Dear Mr. Lincoln,
I would like to get the job of Study Abroad Advisor at University of Oxford.
First of all, I have some personal experience in this field. When I was twenty, I set out to join a six-month study abroad programme and it changed my life. I can speak German very well besides English and French. And I love to encourage others to travel and learn about other cultures.
What’s more, I work hard and I have spent the past two years working in a small company helping high school students to study abroad, so I think that I can do this job well. At my last job, I came up with some useful ideas for the team. That made us win the first prize. For another, I also helped find host families for students in my free time.
All in all, I’m looking forward to working with you and improving myself in the future. Please consider me for the job.
Yours sincerely,
Joe Smith

I had to remember the customers (顾客) orders. It wasn’t very challenging, but that was all my work. And I didn’t get paid on holidays. So, in the end I got bored and gave up the job.
A few days later, I got another job as a shop assistant in a bookshop. I really enjoyed that because I like books and I like talking to people about them. After a few months, I was raised to the shop manager (经理). That was great. I got on-the-job training about management, and I was happy because I was starting a new journey—well, I thought I was. After two years, the bookstore closed because there wasn’t enough business (生意).

The world is developing fast because of technology and its uses in our lives. This means that the jobs we have now are changing, and that there will be new jobs in the future. What’s more, you won’t be in the same job your whole working life—you’ll be more likely that you will change jobs every few years—especially when you’re early in your job.
There are ways to be prepared for future jobs by building different job skills. It’s a good idea to start developing these skills early, so you will be ready to jump into these future jobs as they appear.
Understanding Digital (数字的) Information
Everything is becoming more digital, which means understanding digital information will be important to succeed in the future jobs. You need to know how to understand and use digital technologies—both software, and hardware—as well as knowing how to read and understand online information.
If you can understand and use digital information, you will be able to learn it quickly and use it to solve problems and make decisions.
Being Creative (独创的)
No technology can match the creativity of the human mind, and many future jobs will need people to come up with new ideas and put these ideas into real use. This means it is very important to think creatively about problems. If you can imagine ways to solve problems and make new products, you are more likely to be successful in the future jobs.
16.What are the changes in jobs because of the development of technology
17.How can people be prepared for future jobs according to the passage
18.What is the possible result of not adapting to the changes in future jobs
19.Which skill do you want to develop for the future job Why (Give at least two reasons)

Known as the birthplace of kites, Weifang in Shandong Province has a long history of 2000 years of making kites. At first, they were often used for measuring distances (测量距离) and communicating. During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), kites started to be popular among local people as a way to have fun. In 2006, the Weifang kite-making was included in the national-level intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产) lists.
Yang Hongwei, 59, was born into a kite-making family. Yang often saw kites with bright colors and different shapes in her grandfather’s workshop. “Every time I see these beautiful kites, my sadness and down feelings go away,” said Yang. Yang started to learn the skill from her grandfather at the age of 16. After practicing the skill for 10 years, she started her own shop in 1992.
On Yang’s kites, people can see not only common styles like butterflies and swallows, but also some prints telling Chinese traditional stories, legends and history. For example, she once made a kite showing a phoenix head (凤头) lined with paintings of 50 famous women in Chinese history on each side. Though the idea was cool, the process was not easy. Yang said that each woman had different characters in appearance, clothing and the makeup style. In order to create the women’s images, she spent much effort and time checking historical records.
In her spare time, she also travels to different countries, including Germany, Australia, the US and New Zealand to tell people about Chinese stories seen on kites and the traditional ways of making kites. “I’m an inheritor (传承人) of the culture. It’s also one of my important jobs to spread the heritage around the world and onto the next generation (一代人).” she said.

In many Chinese cities, primary and middle schools have made class breaks longer from 10 to 15 minutes since the fall term started. The governments want students and teachers to do more outdoor activities.
Before, Chinese schools usually had 10-minute breaks. But it was not enough time for students, especially those in tall buildings, to go outside and play. Sometimes, schools didn’t let students leave the classroom during breaks because they were worried about safety.
Now, local education departments (部门) are trying to make school schedules better. They want students to have at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.
In Beijing, primary schools’ morning and afternoon times haven’t changed. Middle schools end five minutes later.
In Wuxi, Jiangsu, schools have 15-minute breaks and one PE class every day. Students must do at least 100 minutes of exercise at school daily. The education officer said this helps students play outside and talk to each other. They want to give break time back to students.
A Qingdao primary school has many outdoor games like jump rope and hula hoop, and indoor puzzles during 15-minute breaks. In May, a fitness test showed that 40 percent of Qingdao students got “excellent” or “good” fitness grades, 10 percent more than before.

The ________ role of water in our body
Water is one of the most important things we need to stay alive, even though we don’t call it a nutrient. Did you know that water makes up more than half of our body weight In fact, 50–70% of an adult’s body is water! Without drinking water regularly, humans can only survive for a few days.
If we don’t drink enough water, our kidneys (肾脏) can’t work properly. When this happens, we might get headaches, feel tired and have trouble concentrating.
How much water should we drink Most healthy people should drink about 6–8 glasses of fluid every day. This can be anywhere from 0.5 to 3 litres. The good news is that we don’t have to drink just plain water—drinks like tea, coffee and fruit juice also count! These drinks can even give us extra nutrients that are good for our bodies.
Remember: Just like you charge your phone battery when it’s low, you need to keep “recharging” your body with water throughout the day to stay healthy!

Physical activity is important and we often plan to do it. However, we don’t often think about making time to exercise as a family. When we find time for family games or movie nights, we often forget family sport. Family exercise may seem silly, but there are many benefits (益处).
85 By spending family time on physical activity together, you encourage your children to exercise and build lifelong habits. When children see physical activity as an enjoyable thing to do together, they may keep family exercise as a family-time tradition as they grow up.
86 Children get more life skills at home than they do anywhere else. Teamwork is taught and encouraged in sport. By exercising together, you’re encouraging teamwork and working together to achieve a common goal, which helps teach children the importance of goal setting as a team.
87 Parents are great encouragers in education and sport. You can give your children encouragement when doing family sport.
It may be all well and good to think about exercising together as a family, but it may be difficult to get started. Here is some advice for you.
☆ 88 Take turns on who gets to choose the physical activity. Maybe you enjoy traditional exercise while your child wants to dance. On your exercising day, encourage your child to follow along. Then allow your child to choose the next family physical activity.
☆ 89 Staying safe is always something important to think about for not only children but parents as well. Choose the activity with your child’s abilities in mind. If some of your family members are not good at running, try to slow down or have them ride a bike along.
Family exercise can be both fun and a good chance for bonding (纽带). Remember to always choose the activity as a family and stay safe.
