Weather and Mood
37 Well, it affects where we go, what we do, and what we wear. And it also affects how we feel and behave. It is a big part of our lives!
38 For example, if we are feeling ill, we say we are “under the weather”. If we are feeling stressed and busy, we can say that we are “snowed under”. We use “bad” weather (rainy, stormy, etc.) to describe a bad mood, and “good” weather (sunny, warm, etc.) to describe a good mood.
And that is not all. 39 For example, sunlight helps our body to produce vitamin D.This vitamin can improve our mood. But some parts of the world get less sunlight in winter, so people can feel unusually sad then. 40 Scientists are still studying how the weather changes the way people feel and behave.
These days, many of us spend less time outside than in the past. 41 It is very important to go outside once in a while, whatever the weather, rain or shine!

Where does the wind come from What makes the wind move all the time
Scientists tell us that the sun makes it move and wind blow. When the sun shines, it makes the land (陆地) and the water hot. Then the land and water make the air over them hot. The warm air is light (轻的), so it goes up. The cool air moves in to take the place of the warm air. Warm and cool air move from place to place and that makes winds.
When the wind changes speed (改变速度), it often brings a change in the weather. When the air moves slowly, it makes light winds. But when the air moves very fast, it makes big winds. It can also tell us a lot about what the weather will be like. Air over the land is dry and that over the water is wet. Winds from the land or the water bring different kinds of weather. Some winds bring sunny or dry weather and others bring rainy or wet weather.

While reading an art magazine recently, I learned about Su Hanchen. This painter from the Song Dynasty was good at drawing children. One of his best-known paintings is Children at Play in an Autumnal Garden (《秋庭戏婴图》). In the painting, the boy and the girl seem to be completely interested in their new game: spinning dates (推枣磨). Although several centuries had passed, I could almost hear their laughter.
Looking at the two kids, I thought of my own childhood. That was almost thirty years ago, when computers and smart phones hadn’t yet entered people’s lives. We had a lot of fun playing outdoors. Girls loved skipping rubber bands (跳皮筋). Boys were crazy about electric model cars. We would often enjoy ourselves so much that we wouldn’t stop until dark!
How do you usually spend your playtime Would you like more off-screen activities If so, why not ask your parents to teach you some of their childhood games Or, maybe you’d like to try out the game of spinning dates. Look it up on a video website to find out how to make the toy. When you have finished, share it with your friends. Take turns gently pushing the top stick and see who can make it spin (旋转) for the longest time without losing its balance. It’s a simple game, but you’ll have lots of fun! Then, you could even make your own rules for the game—keeping the spirit of creativity alive!

Then the days got shorter. Leaves fell from the trees. My child was a university student, and then an engineer (工程师). My home was much quieter. I started walking more slowly. One day I stopped working. I retired. I had more time. I understood this was my autumn, a beautiful time when the trees changed color and produced delicious fruits.

But Mrs. Darling always says, “Nana loves you very much. George.”
The Darling family is a very happy family. Sometimes Mr. and Mrs. Darling and their children all dance around the sitting room together. What a lovely time they have! But then, Peter Pan arrives.
One morning Mrs. Darling finds some leaves on the bedroom floor. She is surprised because it is a strange place to find leaves. When Wendy sees them, she smiles and says, “Oh! It’s Peter Pan again! He is a naughty boy! He never cleans his feet.” Wendy tells her mother that Peter Pan comes into their bedroom during the night. It is the first time that Mrs. Darling hears about Peter Pan.
