Pre-reading
The Ss talk briefly about their travel experiences and lead into the topic. .
Q1. Have you done some traveling?
Q2. Where have you been?
Q3. How did you go there?
Q4. Have you thought of going there by bike?
While-reading:
Step 1: The Ss find the main idea of the text by looking at the title and subtitles.
Q1. What does the text mainly talk about? (A journey (down the Mekong))

Q3. What does part 1 mainly talk about? (No. The dream and the plan.)

(An atlas is a book with good maps that show details of world geography.)
Comprehension activity:
Ss read and understand the words of landforms with the help of pictures.
1: Ss read and write correct words in boxes A & B.
2: Ss read and circle the words of landforms in the text.
3: Ss read and stick the pictures of landforms in the proper places on the map.
* (Ss work in groups of four and one S does this in front of the class.)
Extension activity:
Ss read the map and find countries the Mekong River goes through.

Discussion:
Ss express their opinions on the trip plan or what to do to prepare for their own trip.
Ss work in groups of four and each group chooses either of the two questions.
What do you think of their plan? Why?
If you have a dream trip, what could be done to make it come true? List what could be done.
Prediction;
Ss predict the content of Part 2.
