This spring break, my 12-year-old disabled son rode his first roller coaster. He had so much fun!
The roller coaster was the Slinky Dog Dash at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. Disney World is one of the only mainstream amusement parks that will let my son go on rides. He has cerebral palsy (脑瘫) and is unable to sit independently. Because of his disabilities, most parks won’t let him go on their roller coasters.
The experience at Disney was special for my son, but also special for the rest of my family of five. Splitting up (分开) is something we encounter daily. My son goes to a special school in a town 20 minutes from our home. There are almost no activities he can enjoy at our local parks and recreation program, and he spends a few afternoons a week in physical treatment.
We also divide and conquer when we are out in public. Many buildings have an accessible entrance that is further away, so we split up to avoid dragging everyone around the back. The same goes for hunting for a vacant elevator in a big building or a busy mall.
Accessible seating in theaters often only has room for one companion, so we sit in separate rows or further apart from one another. On occasion, an entire building or part of a building is just completely inaccessible, so we split up or pass on an activity we planned to enjoy because we literally can’t get everyone in the door.
Many people assume that tending to my son’s day-to-day needs is the hardest part of being his caregiver. But finding resources and places that will include him is the real challenge. Disney World is one of the few, if not the only place, where everyone in my family feels equally important. Now that my son has successfully ridden his first roller coaster, I would love for him to go on the same types of rides at an amusement park in the local community, but I know it’s not an option. For now, anyway, I’m holding our recent experience close to my heart.
24. Why was the experience at Disney special for the author’s son
A He was permitted to ride a roller coaster.
B. It was his first trip to an amusement park.
C. He was allowed to go on rides independently.
D. It was his first vacation with his entire family.
25. Which of the following best describes Disney World
A. Romantic. B. Popular. C. Inclusive. D. Secure.
26. Why does the author mention theaters in the fifth paragraph
A. To criticize the limited space of theaters.
B. To stress the importance of theaters to the disabled.
C. To complain about the lack of accessible seating in public.
D. To illustrate accessibility barriers in public that separate her family.
27. What does the author find most difficult when caring for her son
A. Managing her son’s daily needs.
B. Balancing her son and the rest of her family.
C. Finding disability-friendly places and activities.
D. Persuading his son to fit into the local community.
C
When planning my wedding, I was determined not to get caught up in the “perfect day”, but to have a relaxed, informal celebration. My husband and I ended up having a lovely time.
“Pursuit of perfection is a prison,” says Moya Sarner, an NHS psychotherapist. Many of us are driven by the unconscious (下意识的) wish that if we could just have the perfect body, the perfect job and the perfect family, then we would be happy. For that reason, it can be one of the most significant barriers to happiness in life.
The psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott wrote about the importance of the “good enough mother” who meets her baby’s needs timely, but is not perfect. He said perfect is harmful. To meet every desire immediately, to pass the toy straight away whenever it is demanded slows down a baby’s growth, robbing them of the opportunity to feel frustrated (沮丧的) and learn to crawl to get the toy for themselves.
Winnicott believed that while perfection is not a virtue, tolerance of imperfection is. If we cannot develop the capacity to tolerate imperfection in ourselves and in those around us, we can have no self-confidence, no sustainable relationships and no fulfilling career. If we’re always trying to build something called a perfect life, we aren’t really living the one we’re in.
How do I know all this I am a perfectionist in recovery. I’ve started to recognize my intolerance of imperfection — my need for certain things to be exactly as I would like them to be, from the way my husband chops his onions to my terror of being late — and it has made a huge difference to my relationship and my parenting. How can you be a good partner if you expect everyone else to fit your own narrow expectations How can your child grow if they sense that they always need to color precisely inside the lines you’ve drawn out for them
We need to go further than tolerating imperfections. We need to learn to appreciate their humanity and beauty. Imperfections are why people will pay a calligrapher to handwrite invitations when a computer can produce a flawless (完美的) version of the same script for less money and in less time. So for a more delicious life, and ultimately a better one, I choose imperfectionism.
28. How does the author introduce the topic
A. By presenting a successful ceremony. B. By showing her firm determination.
C. By describing her personal experience. D. By introducing her perfect marriage.
29. What can we learn from the example of the “good enough mother”
A. Raising a child brings a mother much joy. B. Pursuing perfection is the duty of mothers.
C. Meeting babies’ demands is very challenging. D. Responding instantly impacts babies’ growth.
30. What is the function of the two questions at the end of Paragraph 5
A. To shift topics. B. To make assumptions. C. To arouse interest. D. To encourage thinking.
31. Which of the following might the author approve of
A. A miss is as good as a mile. B. Haste makes waste.
C. Close enough is good enough. D. Practice makes perfect.
D
Regardless of how famous they are, and despite the star treatment they receive, many celebrities make it a point to give back to charities. Some have even set up their own private foundations. Their widely publicised visits to troubled areas of the world help to raise awareness of issues such as famine and poverty. According to Jane Cooper of Unicef UK, celebrities have a unique ability to reach huge numbers of people, many of whom might not otherwise be engaged in charitable causes. She pointed out that famous faces had played a significant role in raising funds in recent years, and their energies had produced tangible results, such as enabling millions of children in poorer countries to attend school.
But in spite of these successes, there is evidence to suggest that celebrity endorsement (代言) may be overrated. In a survey of members of the public to find out if celebrity involvement would encourage people to donate, researchers found that the impact was not as great as previously thought. When shown a list of well-known organisations and famous people who represent them, over half of respondents were unable to match the celebrity with the cause. What’s more, three quarters claimed that they didn’t respond to celebrity endorsement in any way. The survey also showed that a few names did stand out as being associated with particular charities. But the presence of a celebrity in a campaign, was not a significant factor when it came to a decision to donate time or money. Instead, the majority of people contribute because of personal connections in their lives and families which make a charity important to them.
In another study aimed at young people, most participants cited a compelling (无法抗拒的) mission as their main motivation to give. The second most important drive was if a friend or peer recommended supporting a particular cause. Only two percent of respondents said they were motivated by celebrity endorsement. This seems to contradict the general assumption that teenagers are particularly influenced by famous people. One possible explanation is that there is a general fatigue (疲倦) with celebrity culture. There is also a suspicion that the stars are the ones who benefit most when they offer to do charity work. Some critiques have accused that celebrities might actually take attention away from issues by attracting more attention than the causes they represent.
So taking all these issues into account, is it time for charities to rethink their campaign strategies and look for alternative ways to reach new audiences Whichever point of view you favour, there seems to be opportunities for more research into how charity campaigns might develop relationships with celebrities to maximise their potential. This in turn will open up more engagement, and better targeted campaigns — which can only benefit those who really matter — the people and animals that are in need of assistance.
32 What does the underlined word “tangible” in Paragraph 1 probably mean
A. Controversial. B. Celebrated. C. Definite. D. Temporarily.
33. Which of the following statements is correct according to Paragraph 2
A. Celebrity involvement is key to motivating people to donate.
B. All people are not influenced by celebrities in charity donations.
C. Most people contribute to charities because they are inspired by the family.
D. None of the people believe celebrities make any difference to their donation.
34. The 3rd paragraph is mainly about ________.
A. how young people react to celebrity culture
B. who is to blame for taking attention away from charities
C. what mainly motivates young people to be engaged in charitable giving
D. why young people are rarely influenced by celebrities in charity donations
35. What is the author’s attitude towards celebrity doing charities
A. Objective. B. Positive. C. Negative. D. Unclear.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。
IQ scores like Einstein’s 160 or Madonna’s 140 grab attention, but EQ (Emotional Intelligence), MQ (Moral Intelligence), and BQ (Body Intelligence) are far more critical for success. A high IQ is necessary but not enough. For example, people prefer doing business with those they like and trust, even with less favorable terms. ___36___
Emotional Intelligence
EQ centers on recognizing and regulating emotions — both your own and others’, using them appropriately in situations, and building strong relationships. ___37___ This practice sharpens self-awareness of how thoughts influence feelings. Stress can be a huge killer of emotional intelligence, so you also need to develop healthy coping techniques that can effectively and quickly reduce stress.
Moral Intelligence
MQ builds on EQ, focusing on responsibility, sympathy, and forgiveness. It grows on keeping commitments, staying honest, and treating others with respect. To improve it, replace excuses with responsibility for your actions. ___38___ Show genuine sympathy for others’ struggles, as empathy promotes connection. Equally important is forgiveness — showing tolerance of other people’s shortcomings.
Body Intelligence
BQ reflects how well you understand, value, and care for your body. Though it may seem unrelated to work, it absolutely affects your work because it largely determines your feelings, state of mind, and energy level. ___39___ Choosing energy-giving foods over tiring ones, ensuring sufficient rest, making time for exercise, and even small steps like monitoring weight can dramatically benefit the way you perform at work.
___40___ Someone with these qualities can outperform a highly educated person lacking them. IQ benefits you alone, but EQ, MQ, and BQ uplift those around you, unlocking greater success and professional respect.
A. This can build others’ trust in you.
B. This leads to repeated mistakes in your act.
C. Without it, even daily tasks can feel unmanageable.
D. Developing it means noticing daily signs and acting on them.
E. Formal education matters less than developed EQ, MQ, and BQ.
F. To improve it, start by tracking your inner dialogue through journaling.
G. Thus, investing in EQ, MQ, and BQ matters more than just fixing on IQ.

67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
There’s an image of big cities as soulless places, where everyone appears to be looking out only for themselves. However, my own experiences tell a different story. During some of the most challenging times of my life, when I was struggling to find proper housing, I worked as an artist on the street. For years, I played my flute (长笛) there, and in doing so, I discovered the natural kindness of people. They showed compassion without expecting anything in return, driven purely by human goodwill.
This profound realization took hold when I was 21, living in Sydney. I worked at a local pub, feeling lost and directionless. Amid the chaos of my life, playing the flute was my only constant source of comfort. Looking back, my connection with the flute began when I was 16. Earning a mere $2.35 an hour at the supermarket, I saved for two long years to buy it. Every day after work, playing the flute became my way of processing the day’s emotions.
One day, while working at the pub, someone asked me what I was doing that night. “I’m going to be playing the flute at —” I started to say, but then it struck me: I had forgotten to pick up my flute when I got off the train. Panic set in immediately. In a fit of frustration, I threw the plastic chair I was holding across the room.
I rushed to the train station, hoping someone had handed in my flute. No luck. Still, I left my number, clinging to the slim hope that it would turn up. Convinced that it was gone forever — after all, I hadn’t even written my name on the case — I spent the next week drowning in self-blame, drinking heavily and feeling sorry for myself.
Then, out of the blue, I received a call from CityRail. They had my flute. I hurried to the lost property office at Central Station. And there it was, among all the other lost items.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;

【答案】28. C 29. D 30. D 31. C

A. Objective. B. Positive. C. Negative. D. Unclear.

【答案】
Recently, a survey named “AI in my life” has been conducted in our school. The result is as follows.
The findings highlight AI’s role as both a supportive tool and an emotional outlet in our life. 66% of the participants turn to AI for aid with their homework. Content creation comes second with 54% using it to generate video scripts or writing. 32% rely on AI for emotional interaction, like chatting with Chatbot for comfort, while 27% use it in other aspects.
While AI boosts efficiency and creativity, automated homework solutions could hinder critical thinking and reliance on Chatbots might reduce human connections. To embrace AI wisely, we are supposed to optimize its use for learning and creation, while balancing digital and human interactions.

【答案】One possible version:
As I went to grab it, the guards there asked for my ID. I froze in my tracks, a wave of panic washing over me. I stammered, telling them I didn’t have any ID on me, and that getting it would be a huge hassle. Despair filled my eyes as I pleaded with them, explaining how precious this flute was to me. It wasn’t just an instrument; it was my connection to a better time, a source of comfort in my otherwise chaotic life. But the guards said, “Well, sorry — you’ve got to have ID to get your flute back.” I stared at the flute, so close yet so out of reach, and held back the tears of frustration that threatened to spill.
Desperate and anxious, I said, “What if I play you a tune ” The guards hesitated, but then nodded. I closed my eyes and started playing Greensleeves. As the first notes filled the air, a rush of emotions surged through me. I could feel the guards’ attention on me, and for a moment, the world around us seemed to stand still. When I opened my eyes, I saw that the guards’ expressions had softened. “That’s your flute,” one of them said softly. Without hesitation, I grabbed my flute and walked away, my heart swelling with gratitude. It was a double kindness — first from the person who handed my flute in, and then the guards who broke the rules to let me take it. This experience only reaffirmed my belief in the goodness of people, even in the bustling heart of a big city.
