【答案】18.B 19.A 20.A
With the development of science and technology, people have more spare time. But how do we spend the free time I prefer to go outdoors and spend my free time in some different places with some different people.
The first reason for outdoor activities is that I have spent too much time indoors. Most of the time I sit in the classroom, listening to the teachers and doing my exercises. The indoor activities are too limited. Fresh air, sunlight and enough physical exercises are needed for a healthy body. So when I am free. I should go out. The second reason is that I want to have more experiences in my life. When you go out, far away from your daily life, you will meet a lot of people who are quite different from you. It will give you a lot of exciting experiences.
However, outdoor activities will take a lot of money and energy. So if you have not prepared enough, having some amusement indoors is also a good choice, which may be cheaper and easier to carry out. Reading some books and enjoying music are also very good.

When John graduated from high school, he got a job delivering pizzas. But soon he realized that it wasn’t what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. So he took a night class at a local tech school to see if welding (焊接), which joins two metals together with heat, was a skill that “was going to stick”.
It did. John wanted to learn everything about welding and decided he’d make welding his career. But one night class wouldn’t be enough. John went to Hobart Welding School in Ohio for real, technical training. Besides welding courses, John also took classes in subjects like metallurgy — the study of metal — and reading blueprints. He became more certain that he would stick to the job.
For the past 18 years, John has been a welder. He now works for the EEW Group. The company has a big project to carry out. It’s in the process of opening a factory that will produce monopiles for offshore wind turbines (涡轮机). Wind turbines produce eco-friendly electricity.
A typical day for John includes a number of tasks and skills. One minute, he’s driving a forklift. The next, he’s reading blueprints, or cutting materials. “There are a lot to deal with,” he told Time for Kids. “It’s not just welding.”
John’s favorite part of being a welder is “making an honest living”. He also takes pride in helping the environment. “I’m glad to stick to what I really want to do,” he says. “I am working for a company that is helping the country to go green, and it’s satisfying to be a part of the process.”
24.What did John use to be
A.A deliveryman. B.A welder. C.A driver. D.A cook.
25.What is the main idea of Paragraph 2
A.What John decided to do. B.How John improved himself.
C.When John learned welding. D.Why John accepted training.
26.What is John’s daily life like
A.Easy and satisfying. B.Tiring but educational.
C.Busy but meaningful. D.Interesting and relaxing.
27.Which can describe John’s experience?
A.Pride goes before a fall. B.One is never too young to learn.
C.Action speaks louder than words. D.One should set goals and work for it.
【答案】24.A 25.B 26.C 27.D
根据第一段“When John graduated from high school, he got a job delivering pizzas.(约翰高中毕业后,找到了一份送披萨的工作。)”
根据第二段“It did. He became more certain that he would stick to the job.(结果证明,焊接确实是他愿意坚持的技能。约翰想要学习焊接的所有知识,并决定将焊接作为自己的职业。但仅仅一门夜校课程是不够的。约翰去了俄亥俄州的Hobart焊接学校接受真正的技术培训。除了焊接课程外,约翰还学习了金属学(研究金属的学科)和阅读蓝图等课程。他更加确信自己会坚持这份工作。)”可知,第二段主要讲的是John如何通过系统培训提升自身技能以实现职业目标。故选B。
26.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“A typical day for John includes a number of tasks and skills. One minute, he’s driving a forklift. The next, he’s reading blueprints, or cutting materials.(约翰典型的一天包括许多任务和技能。一会儿他开着叉车,一会儿他又在阅读蓝图或切割材料。)”和最后一段“He also takes pride in helping the environment. “I’m glad to stick to what I really want to do,” he says. “I am working for a company that is helping the country to go green, and it’s satisfying to be a part of the process.”(他也为帮助环境而感到自豪。“我很高兴坚持我真正想做的事情,”他说。“我在一家帮助国家走向绿色的公司工作,能参与这一过程让我感到满意。”)”可知,John的一天非常忙碌,需要处理多项任务和技能,但同时,他也为能帮助环保和从事自己喜欢的工作而感到满足,因此他的生活虽然忙碌但有意义。故选C。

C
In today’s world of fast-paced games and short videos, people are spending less and less time on things. For example, research has shown that the average visitor spends just 15 seconds on a website before moving on to other things. But the Internet is a huge and busy place, with millions of sites to choose from. You might expect people to slow down a bit more when they’re in museums full of great works of art. But you’d be wrong.
Several studies have shown that the amount of time for people to spend looking at a piece of art is ten seconds. Many people may spend more time, but not much more — the average is about 28 seconds. At the Tate Modern Museum in London, it’s even worse. People there spend an average of just eight seconds on each artwork. And in that short period of time, the visitors are also managing to do another important thing — take selfies !
In recent years museums have been working to change this behavior. Today, over 170 museums around the world are celebrating “Slow Art Day”. They are asking their visitors to spend at least 5-10 minutes looking at just one work of art. Slow Art supporters believe that when visitors spend more time looking at and studying the work of art, they admire it more. Studying a work of art for more time can also help people get a better understanding of the artist’s ideas and what the artist went through to create the work.
Most of the museums taking part in Slow Art Day are choosing just a few works for their visitors to see. Some of the museums are offering chances for visitors to talk about the artworks and share their ideas.
28.Generally speaking, people spend ______ on each piece of art in a museum.
A.8 seconds B.28 seconds C.15 seconds D.10 seconds
29.What do the underlined words “this behavior” refer to
A.Admiring each artwork thoroughly. B.Taking selfies in museums busily.
C.Celebrating “Slow Art Day” widely. D.Looking at each artwork hurriedly.
30.Why is “Slow Art Day” created
A.To make people spend more time on each artwork
B.To stop visitors from taking selfies inside
C.To attract more people to visit the museums
D.To give visitors an opportunity to relax themselves
31.Which of the following can be the best title of this passage
A.Museums: Slow down to Admire more! B.Museums on the Rocks: Please Advise!
C.Slow Art Day: a Fruit of Museums! D.Museums: an Escape from the Fast-paced Life!
【答案】28.D 29.D 30.A 31.A
根据第二段中“Several studies have shown that the amount of time for people to spend looking at a piece of art is ten seconds. Many people may spend more time, but not much more — the average is about 28 seconds.(几项研究表明,人们花在观看一件艺术品上的时间是10秒钟。许多人可能会花更多的时间,但不会更多——平均约为28秒)”可知,研究表明人们看一件艺术品的平均时间是10秒,虽然后文提到某些博物馆的平均时间更短或更长,但题干问的是generally speaking,因此以研究数据为准。故选D。
29.词句猜测题。根据第二段“Several studies have shown that the amount of time for people to spend looking at a piece of art is ten seconds. Many people may spend more time, but not much more — the average is about 28 seconds. At the Tate Modern Museum in London, it’s even worse. People there spend an average of just eight seconds on each artwork. And in that short period of time, the visitors are also managing to do another important thing — take selfies !(一些研究表明,人们花在欣赏一件艺术品上的时间是十秒钟。
根据第三段中“Today, over 170 museums around the world are celebrating “Slow Art Day”. They are asking their visitors to spend at least 5-10 minutes looking at just one work of art. (今天,全世界170多家博物馆正在庆祝“慢艺术日”。他们要求参观者至少花5-10分钟的时间来欣赏一件艺术品)”,结合第二段提到的人们现在平均花费28秒欣赏艺术作品可知,“慢艺术日”要求参观者至少花5-10分钟的时间来欣赏一件艺术品,由此可推知,设立“慢艺术日”是为了让人们花更多的时间在每一件艺术品上。故选A。
通读全文,尤其是第二段中“Several studies have shown that the amount of time for people to spend looking at a piece of art is ten seconds. Many people may spend more time, but not much more — the average is about 28 seconds. ( 一些研究表明,人们花在欣赏一件艺术品上的时间是十秒钟。许多人可能会花费更多的时间,但不会多很多——平均时间约为28秒)”和第三段中“In recent years museums have been working to change this behavior. Today, over 170 museums around the world are celebrating “Slow Art Day”. They are asking their visitors to spend at least 5-10 minutes looking at just one work of art.(近年来,博物馆一直在努力改变这种行为。今天,全世界170多家博物馆正在庆祝“慢艺术日”。他们要求参观者至少花5-10分钟的时间来欣赏一件艺术品)”可知,如今人们花在欣赏一件艺术品上的时间很短,所以博物馆正在努力改变这种行为。全世界170多家博物馆正在庆祝“慢艺术日”,他们要求参观者至少花5-10分钟的时间来欣赏一件艺术品。由此可知,A项“博物馆:慢下来欣赏更多!”适合做文章标题。故选B。
D
What a day! That morning, I was worried that no one would talk to me. But I was wrong. I didn’t feel awkward or frightened at all on the first day of senior high school. I miss my friends from junior high school, but I believe I will make new friends here and there’s a lot to explore at senior high school. I feel much more confident than I felt that morning.
My name is Adam and I’m a freshman at senior high school. Going from junior high school to senior high school is a really big challenge. The first week was a little confusing.
First, I had to think very carefully about which courses I wanted to take. The school adviser helped me choose the suitable ones from maths, English, chemistry, world history, Chinese and so on. I know that Chinese is a very difficult language, but I hope to be fluent when I graduate. My adviser recommended that I should sign up for advanced literature because I like English and I’m good at it.
I had to choose extra-curricular activities, too. I tried to join the school football team, but the coach told me that I didn’t play well enough. Obviously, I was unhappy, but I won’t quit. I’ll find a way to improve on my own so that I can make the team next year. I joined a volunteer club instead. Every Wednesday, we work at a soup kitchen and hand out food to homeless people in the community.
I know I’ll have to study harder as a senior high school student and get used to being responsible for a lot more. I’m a bit worried about keeping up with the other students in my advanced courses, and it’ll be quite difficult to get used to all the homework. Still, I’m happy to be here. Studying hard isn’t always fun, but I’ll be well prepared for university or whatever else comes in the future.
32.How did the author feel after the first morning of senior high school

34.What can we learn from paragraph 4
A.The coach advised Adam to join a volunteer club.
B.Adam decided to make the team the next year.
C.Adam handed out food to the students in the school.
D.The coach helped Adam practice playing football.
35.Which of the following words can describe Adam

由第三段中“My adviser recommended that I should sign up for advanced literature because I like English and I’m good at it. (我的顾问建议我报名参加高级文学课程,因为我喜欢英语,而且我很擅长)”可知,学校顾问建议作者选高级文学这门课程。故选B项。
34.细节理解题。由第四段中“I tried to join the school football team, but the coach told me that I didn’t play well enough. Obviously, I was unhappy, but I won’t quit. I’ll find a way to improve on my own so that I can make the team next year. (我试图加入学校足球队,但教练告诉我我踢得不够好。显然,我很不开心,但我不会放弃。我会找到一种方法来提高自己,这样我明年就可以进入球队了)”可知,虽然作者加入足球队失败了,但他下定决心明年加入球队。故选B项。
35.推理判断题。由全文和最后一段中“Still, I’m happy to be here. Studying hard isn’t always fun, but I’ll be well prepared for university or whatever else comes in the future. (不过,我很高兴能来这里。努力学习并不总是很有趣,但我会为大学或未来的任何事情做好准备)”可知,第一天适应良好,未被足球队录取后主动寻找其他活动(志愿者俱乐部),对学业挑战保持信心,可得出Adam对于高中生活持积极态度。故选C项。

My great-grandfather my grandfather and my father are farmers, and so are all my family. My father has a fixed idea that I would become a farmer too. Although I respect him and am indeed skilled at doing some farm work, I don’t agree that I should automatically follow in my father’s footsteps.
When I was a teenager, my father happened to take me to an airport which belonged to one of his friends. It was the first time I had seen an aeroplane in real life. Knowing that I had never been on board, my father’s friend Tom offered me an opportunity to fly with him in his small aeroplane. I quickly accepted his offer! When we took off, I felt nervous but thrilled. Being up in the clouds and looking at the view below was unlike anything I had ever felt. I was just enjoying it. I assumed being a pilot would be the most awesome thing in the whole world. From that day a thought crept into my mind that I wanted to become a pilot, but I doubted whether my father would support me. After all, it was a totally different path from what he had planned for me. Therefore, I put the thought to the back of my mind, because I knew he would still insist on holding onto his previous idea.
Anyway, besides helping my father on the farm, I would frequently visit Tom’s airport. Gradually, I got familiar with every button and switch on the aircraft and I learned a lot about planes, such as how to fill the plane with fuel, how to check the engines and so on. But what I had learned just left me wanting more, so I decided to go to college to become a professional pilot.

This time I would not hide my desire any more. Determined to follow my heart, I explained to my father how I felt. I told him that I wanted to go to a college to learn to fly instead of being a farmer. After saying this, I waited nervously for his reaction. To my surprise, he approved my request, and he told me he was moved by my perseverance. With his support and my efforts, I was admitted into my ideal college.
At the graduation ceremony, with my father present, I, as “Best Pilot”, had to deliver a speech. In my speech, I shared with the audience my story about how a teenager realized his dream. Faced with difficulties, I took a path that led me do something that needed passion, training and practice. I also owed my success to my father’s support. Without his understanding, I couldn’t have pursued my dream. At the end of my speech, I spotted my father’s watery eyes, and said, “Dad, I made it!” His face lit up with pride.
