(1) 细节理解题:答案几乎都在原文中,重点关注“who/what/when/where/why/how”引导的句子,避免主观推测。

Study is an important experience for everyone. After twenty years, I can still remember my first
day at school. I was only 6 years old at that time. It was a very big room. I sat at the desk near the window, but I couldn’t see anything because the window was too high. There was a big map of the world on the wall and an old blackboard. I don’t think I was worried or afraid because I wanted to be a teacher at that time. There was another little boy next to me. He sat there and kept silent at first. Then he began to cry, because he didn’t want to stay there.
More and more students came in, but the boy didn’t stop crying. “Mom, I want to go home,” he cried again and again. Later, the teacher came in. She went to the little boy, and said something to him. I couldn’t hear what she said. Soon the boy stopped crying and began to smile. I thought the teacher was a superwoman and I admired her very much. I wanted to be a teacher like her.
Even to this day, I still don’t know what the teacher said to the little boy.

In the past, many students practiced English with their pen friends-they sent letters to people around the world. However, we now send emails to others and chat with people who live quite faraway on the Internet.
Here’s some advice on how to succeed in your online language exchanges(交流).
How to start a conversation when speaking English online When you speak to somebody online, start by asking “Yes or No” questions. Use questions such as “Do you like… ” or “Can you… ” or “Have you ever… ”
Remember your goal. You are trying to learn about the other person. Think about things you enjoy and share your own experiences to find that you have similar interests. If you only ask questions, you will sound like a policeman or a policewoman!
How to keep a conversation going Listen carefully. In that way, you can get to know somebody well. When you know him or her well, you will have more to talk about. Then ask follow-up questions. After you “listen”, use what you “hear” to learn more about that person. Use “open ended(开放性)” questions, such as “What do you think of… ” or “What was the most interesting experience… ”
Besides, remember some basic rules for online language exchanges:
Be patient. Do not try to find a good friend right away.
Be careful. Don’t give any personal information on the Internet, especially your address, telephone number, and even your real name. It’s very dangerous.
6.How many pieces of advice does the writer give us
7.Who did many students practice English with in the past
8.How can we find that we have similar interests
9.Is giving personal information online safe according to the writer

The customs and traditions are different in different countries. So is Father’s Day. The dates and ways of the celebrations of Father’s Day are not the same everywhere.
Father’s Day is celebrated to thank fathers and express gratitude(感激) for their love. In Canada, it is celebrated on the third Sunday in June. You can see many people are in yellow and the streets are decorated in yellow because Father's Day is also the King's birthday.

The Double Ninth Festival, also named the Chongyang Festival, falls on the ninth day of the ninth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. On this day, people would like to drink chrysanthemum (菊花) wine. The Chinese word for wine is Jiu, a similar pronunciation of the Chinese word for “long”, which means “forever”. Another special food for this festival is chrysanthemum cakes. The Chinese word for cake is Gao, a similar pronunciation of the Chinese word “high”, showing great progress at work and in daily life.
It is hard to say when these customs began. But there are many stories about the festival. As was recorded in a historical book of the sixth century, there lived a man named Huan Jing. He was learning the magic arts from Fei Changfang. One day, the two people were climbing a mountain. Fei Changfang suddenly stopped and looked very upset. He told Huan Jing, “On the ninth day of the ninth lunar month,
a disaster will come to your hometown. You must go home at once. Remember to make a red bag for each of your family members. Then you must all tie your bags to your arms, leave home quickly and climb to the top of a mountain. Most importantly, you must all drink some chrysanthemum wine. Only by doing so can your family members be safe.”
On hearing this, Huan Jing rushed home and asked his family to do as his teacher said. The whole family climbed a nearby mountain and did not return until the evening. When they got back home, they found all their animals dead, including chickens, sheep, dogs and even the ox.
Since then, climbing a mountain and drinking chrysanthemum wine became the traditional activities of the Double Ninth Festival.

My 100 Days Without a Mobile Phone
When was the last time you left home without your mobile phone Can you imagine yourself living a month, or even a year without checking your mobile phone from time to time
As a busy modern person with lots of social connections, plans and responsibilities, I just cannot afford to not be in touch with the rest of the world. Staying connected to other people is a big part of my life. However, sometimes it can be bothersome (恼人的).
One day I discovered I was terribly tired out. I tried turning notifications (通知) off. But the fear of missing out something important made me check the phone more often than before. So, I simply stopped using my phone.
Well, to tell the truth, it was not simple at all. For the first couple of days, I had a big fear that all
of my friends would soon forget about me. When I had a free moment, I had no idea what to get myself distracted (分心的) with, and the worries mixed with boredom kept bothering me.
However, after three weeks without a mobile phone, I started noticing changes—changes which I liked, and which drove me to not just continue the experiment, but in fact to reorganize some of my habits.
First of all, I noticed that I became much more focused (专注的). Before, while doing something, I would often find myself wondering what was going on online. After a month of staying away from my mobile phone, I found that the urge (冲动) was already not that strong and that my ability to focus improved.
I discovered that the world is a beautiful place. Before, I would look at it through my camera mostly: take a photo, post it, get some likes. Now, I saw beautiful people walking around and I sensed the seasons change. I could understand the actual beauty of the world, and I did not need anyone else to prove the value of this beauty through likes or shares.
Now, as 100 days have passed, I can say that the experiment was worth it. I am planning to stay away from my phone for as long as possible.

An old saying goes, “Laughter is the best medicine.” It’s true that laughter is really good for our health. So, the next time you’re feeling stressed, try to laugh a lot, develop a sense of humor and watch funny films.
The Comic Relief charity, an organization that helps people in need, uses laughter to raise money. Every two years in spring, many English people put on a red nose, make a fool of themselves and do “silly” things to make themselves and others laugh. Examples of silly things you can do are:
Invite friends round to your house to watch funny films. They have to pay to watch the films and for food and drinks. Those with the most comfortable chairs pay more.
Hold a talent show at school and ask your friends and teachers to sing, dance or tell jokes. Sell tickets for the show to the rest of the school.
Have a red nose party at your house. All your friends come dressed in red, including red nose, and you serve red food and drinks. If they don’t wear red, they have to pay a fine(罚款).
Get the students in your school to make funny sculptures using all kinds of things. Sell tickets to your Red Nose Day exhibition and part of the money goes to Comic Relief.
The organization has helped people for more than 20 years. And how much have they collected since the first Red Nose Day Over 600 million! The idea of Red Nose Day has traveled to other countries, too. In New Zealand, for example, people have made big red noses which they put on the front of cars and even buildings.
36.What is the Comic Relief charity
37.Who should pay more when invited to watch funny films
38.When will people have to pay a fine

I live in a large neighborhood. I have lived here since I was born. I have a lot of friends here. Mr. Wang is one of them. He is 85 years old. I enjoy visiting Mr. Wang because he tells me exciting stories about Hong Kong in the past. He also shows me old photos. Yesterday, I visited Mr. Wang after school. I asked him how long he had lived here. This is what he told me:
“I have lived in the neighborhood since 1993.Before I moved here, I lived in a small village called Pak Mong on Lantau Island. There were many people living in the village when I was young. These years, there are only a few families left. Most families moved to the city for work. I left the village in 1993, when my son moved to the city.
Pak Mong is an old village. There are watchtowers (瞭望塔) around the village. In the old days, soldiers used to stand in the watchtowers and keep guard (站岗). Here is a photo of my school. I went to that school a very long time ago. The school has been closed since 1985.
I enjoy going to the Kowloon Walled City Park, because it makes me think of my old village. I have visited the park three times since 2004.Would you and your family members like to go to the park with me next weekend ”

Royal family face changes
Dating back to 600 BC, the imperial family of Japan is the world’s oldest continuous monarchy. But for the first time in history, the family, as Reuters put it, “enters uncharted waters”.
The news came on May 17 that Princess Mako, 25, the eldest grandchild of current emperor Akihito, is to be engaged to her college boyfriend Kei Komuro. He is a “commoner”, which is another way of describing someone who isn’t part of the royal family.
This is a big decision. Under Imperial Household Law, which has been in place since 1947,
women of the royal family have to give up their royal status if they marry a commoner, and their children will not be royal either.
To add to this, two days later, Japan’s government approved the request of 83-year-old Emperor Akihito to abdicate. It is the first time in nearly 200 years that an emperor has given up his throne instead of letting nature take its course. The emperor’s oldest son, Prince Naruhito, 57, will take over once his father steps down in 2019.
With Princess Mako leaving and Emperor Akihito stepping down, the ever-shrinking imperial family is facing a serious shortage of heirs, given that the Imperial Household Law only allows males to succeed to the throne.
To solve this problem, there has long been a suggestion that the law be changed, with many arguing it no longer suits modern times. And a recent poll by Kyodo News found that 60 percent of Japanese people believe that the children of royal women should be allowed to ascend the throne, while 80 percent are in favor of a female emperor.
But changing the law isn’t easy. Japanese conservatives seem to attach great significance to the males-only succession rule.
“This is all rooted in the concept of the unbroken male bloodline. The notion of what makes Japan special is that it has an imperial line that has been passed down through a male lineage,” Ken Ruoff of Portland State University in the US, an expert on the Japanese monarchy, told the BBC.
It is understandable that some people are afraid of change, just like how sailing in “uncharted waters” can be scary. But this doesn’t mean that it’s not a wise thing to do. As US writer Charles F. Glassman once wrote: “The danger of venturing into uncharted waters is not nearly as dangerous as staying on shore, waiting for your boat to come in.”
46.Which country is the oldest continuous monarchy in the world
47.What is a “commoner”
48.What will happen if a royal member marries a commoner
49.Why isn’t it easy to change the law

50.How many Japanese support a female emperor
