Something that l learnt from both my parents was the importance of having respect (尊重) for other people. I remember one day when we were travelling on a bus and 1 sat down while other people were standing. My mother shouted at me “Get up immediately! You have young legs and you don’t need to sit down.” At the time I felt embarrassed about being told off 2 , but now I understand. I think children nowadays have lost that respect and it really makes me angry if I see children sitting down while 3 people are standing.
One area in which we had a lot of rules was table 4 . For example, we weren’t allowed to start our meal 5 the oldest person had started. We had to say “thank you” when our food was 6 , and eat everything on our plates before we could leave the table. We couldn’t make any noise when eating. Worse than that, we were only 7 to have sweets at the weekend, as a special treat if we had been good.
Although my upbringing (养育) was perhaps a bit 8 compared with modern children, I’m very thankful to my parents for giving me a clear 9 in life. Even though I was sometimes punished, I think it has made me a better person. In my view, children need clear rules, but more than that they need to learn how to get on with 10 people, and realize they are not the center of the world.

请认真阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

①We can see circles, squares and triangles everywhere in our daily life. Have you thought about their meanings in films Much like colors, different shapes can show different features of characters in the scenes.
②Circles represent (代表) things that are soft and natural. The round shape reminds us of things that appear in nature, like the sun, raindrops and so on. We can also connect circles with beautiful eyes, babies’ round faces. . . All these things make us feel happy and warm. This is why so many cartoon characters’ bodies—heroes, good people—are round in shape, because circles represent goodness, happiness and friendliness.
③Squares show things that are unnatural or man-made, or things that are boring or old-fashioned. In Up, Carl has a square face and wears square glasses, while Russell, an 8-year-old boy with a round face, always wears round medals. These shapes show the characters’ personalities. Carl is stubborn (执拗的) and lonely, while Russell is lovely and full of energy.
④The angriest shape is the triangle. Every kid who draws a monster with sharp teeth draws a row of triangles, don’t they That’s because the shape represents fear, distrust and doubt in some way. Look at the bad guys in cartoons—they are all drawn with plenty of points and triangles (稳固的), like Shengongbao in Ne Zha. And triangles are stable (稳固的) and don’t easily fall down. In films, this feature makes bad people difficult to deal with.

Have you ever dreamed of travelling all the way over the rainbow Well, it’s easier than you think. All you need to do is to book a plane ticket to Rainbow Mountain in Peru (秘鲁).
Rainbow Mountain is a beautiful natural wonder. It lies in the Andes in Cusco (库斯科的安第斯山脉). As its name suggests, the mountain has different colours.
But why is it in yellow, green, red and purple The reason is the ice that covered the area centuries ago. When it started to melt (融化), the water mixed with the minerals (矿物质) in the ground and turned the earth into many colours.
If you plan your trip to the mountain, try to go during warmer months when there is less rain or snow. Rain or snow makes the climbing more difficult and the colours will look less beautiful. The best time is from March to November, when there are blue skies and pleasant weather. At the same time, visit it in the morning or evening, either right after sunrise or right before sunset. Very sunny days may make you not take nice photos.
To get to Rainbow Mountain, you should first travel to Cusco—a province in the south of Peru. Then you can take a drive to Qesoyuno. From there you can start the journey on foot. It takes about a two-or-three-hour walk to the top. This is really the best way, but the trip is very difficult. Because the mountain sits at a very high altitude (海拔) about 5,200 meters above the sea level, so bring enough water and take your time.

Having a hobby is a great way for you to feel happy and meet new people. In fact, there are lots of hobbies that are good for you.
Hobbies are simply anything you do that’s for fun. You aren’t getting paid to do it; it’s something you like to do with your free time. For a lot of people these days it seems like their only leisure activities are watching television and staying on the Internet. That’s a pity, because hobbies — from rock climbing to collecting something — can have real benefits.
Hobbies often provide something that you might not get in your everyday life. They allow you to do something that’s just for you, and they can help you forget your daily problems and give you a lot of pleasure. If you can find like-minded people in your area, going outside can also be a great way to meet new people and experience new adventures.
If you are adding a new thing into your life, you have to take time and focus away from something else. The good news is that most of us have a lot of time we are not using well, either because we are spending a lot of time online or watching TV or just wasting time we could be spending on our hobbies.
Of course everyone is different and your personality does play a role in what sorts of hobbies you’ll like. Maybe you really like hanging out with friends, so you need to take a class or have an interest that you can do with a group. If you travel a lot, something that you can do anywhere is helpful; if you’re a homebody you might love to be surrounded by a cool collection.
The truth is that you may not hit the perfect activity for you right out of the gate, but you can have a lot of fun trying out new things and exploring what’s out there. Do some web searches, visit the library; don’t be afraid to try new things, and soon you’ll have a hobby that provides you with a lot of fun and stress relief, too.

A.Watching television. B.Staying on the Internet.
C.Rock climbing. D.Going out a lot.

A.why hobbies are important
B.what hobbies actually are
C.hobbies help you forget problems
D.hobbies help you experience new adventures
23.If you like staying at home, as a hobby you had better ______.
A.spend a lot of time online
B.watch a lot of TV
C.take a class or join in a group
D.collect something you like
24.The meaning of the underlined word “hit” in the last paragraph is similar to ______.
A.pick up B.run into C.find out D.turn to

71.例文:
Dear Kate,
I’m glad to receive your email. Now I want to tell you something about the Chinese table manners.
In China, we must wait until everyone is at the table. And when the dinner starts, the host doesn’t eat every dish first. He waits for the guests and elders to dig in. We don’t tap bowls with the chopsticks, which is considered impolite. We shouldn’t reach across the table to get something to eat, because in that case, we may break or knock something over. Besides, we usually toast good health or success of the host and thank him for his treat.
Hope to see you in China and everything goes well.
Yours,
Li Hui
