I was fourteen years old and I just came to the junior high school. It seemed that I would have difficulties finishing high school because I was a troubled teenager. However, one person came into my life quietly and then completely changed everything. The first year in my school, Mr. Brown taught me history. He was quite different from the other teachers I had known. But I had to say that he was sure a great teacher.
One day, Mr. Brown called me aside (到旁边) and asked why I was a B student in his class but a C student in the rest of my classes. I passionately (热情地) told him about my divorced (离婚的) parents, the gangs (尤指滋事的青少年团伙), the fights, the police—all of the evil things I had experienced. It was then that Mr. Brown patiently explained that the only person responsible (有责任的) for my situation was me. And the only person with the ability to change my situation was me, too. He told me that I failed not because I was a failure as a student. He encouraged me to become a better student.
Ten years later, I was preparing to graduate (毕业) from a university. The first person coming to my mind was him. So I tried to reach him and wanted to tell him that I really wished him to come to enjoy this important moment together with me.
I’ll never forget his reply. He said, “Who is this again ”
At that moment, I came to realize that I was just one of hundreds of the students whose lives were changed by him but he had no idea of his influence.
Mr. Brown never came to my graduation (毕业), but his not coming taught me another important lesson. Live-streaming (直播) has become very popular in China. Viewers (people who watch it) can communicate with hosts by sending them messages, buying them gifts, or tipp ng (giving them some money).
However, some children are spending too much money on live-stream platforms (平台). Earlier this year, a 17-year-old boy in Hubei, sent 150,000 yuan to a host. That was his parents’ life money.
To stop things like this from happening again, the National Radio and Television Administration introduced a new rule on Nov 23 to better manage (管理) live-streaming services.
The rule bans children from giving money or sending gifts to live-stream hosts and performers. It also asks people to register (注册) on live-streaming sites with their real names.
Parents welcome this new rule very much. According to China Daily, about one-fifth of live-stream viewers in 2021were children.
“Online shows and live-streaming have become so popular. I always feel worried that my son might become lost in them.” said a mother of a 15-year-old boy in Beijing. “Stricter rule makes me feel safer.”
In addition, there are some other ways to help manage live-streaming services. For example, live-streaming platforms will put a limit (限制) on how much money people can send to the hosts. When viewers reach the limit, they will not be able to send gifts or give money. If the host asks viewers to send gifts or tips, he or she will be added to blacklist (黑名单).

To be able to listen to the radio on the Internet, you’ll need to have a special program called “player” installed (安装) in your computer. Most people use two players—the Real Player and the Windows Media Player. Don’t worry. 60 And you may already have them installed in your computer.

Many cities have cinemas that show films in English, usually with subtitles (字幕). 62 If you need to read the subtitles, at least you’ll be hearing English even if you don’t understand it.

Hello, everyone! Today I’d like to introduce a scientist, Tim Berners-Lee. He was born in London, England in 1955. He studied physics at Oxford University. He made his first computer from an old TV. At the age of 21, Tim started working as an engineer. He worked in England and then in Switzerland. Tim was really interested in two things—computers and how the brain works. When he was 34, Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web (WWW). It has a special language that helps computers talk to each other on the Internet. The Internet has developed quickly after that. Though his inventions have changed our lives, Tim Berners-Lee doesn’t think he did anything special.

I can have 9 hours’ sleep every day. But in the past, I usually slept for less than 7 hours and felt sleepy in class. Besides, I used to exercise only in P.E. class, but now I spend at least an hour exercising every day. Finally, I used to be very busy and even on weekends I had to take math and physics classes. But now in my free time, not only can I enjoy reading, but I can also play sports with my friends. How wonderful!
