Are you a happy person most of the time Or do you easily get angry sometimes Everyone has a different temperament (脾气). It is usually believed that both genes (基因) and environment may affect people’s temperaments in different ways. But now, scientists have found that the season of birth also plays a role.
Scientists studied 400 university students. In the study, the students needed to finish a test. The result showed that people born in summer more easily change between sad and happy moods compared with people born in winter. People born in spring and summer are always active.
The study also found that those born in autumn are less likely to have a mood of sadness. So they don’t tend (易于) to cry. Those born in winter aren’t angry easily.
Scientists said that this is probably because the seasons have an influence (影响) on certain chemicals (化学物质) in human bodies. And the chemicals are important for controlling people’s moods even in adults’ life.
In short, when you are born, the chemicals in your body may add or decrease your chance of developing certain moods.

Just around the time when most of the snow has melted, spring comes honking back to my home in Spencerville, Ontario. It comes loudly. Canada geese don’t care if you’re sleeping or if you’re eating breakfast—they honk like crazy!
The sound is a whisper at first: honk, honk, honk, coming from the south. Then I see tiny dots (点) up high. Their calls get louder: honk, honk, honk!
The dots form the letter V, moving quickly toward me in the blue sky. There are many geese flying in that V shape. The one at the front has the hardest job. When he gets tired, he moves back and another one takes a turn being the leader. They are even louder now. honk, honk, honk!
The geese fly right over me. I can see their black heads and long black necks. Their dark brown wings wave to me as they fly through the air. I can’t hear anything else, just honk, honk, honk!
I watch the geese fly down in the field behind my house. Two black legs unfold (张开) from under their white bellies. They stop flapping (拍打) their wings and land (降落) perfectly.
The geese are hungry after their long journey. A farmer’s field is a great place to eat and rest. They eat bits of corn in the mud and swim in large puddles of melted snow, looking for more food. When they find something, they tip (倾斜) forward and put their bead and neck right underwater to get it. The water looks cold to me!
In a few days, the fields are soon filled with noisy Canada geese. They honk to say hello to each other: honk, honk, honk, honk. They honk to warn of danger, like when my big dog Harley splashes through the puddles, ready for a game of chase! Honk. Honk. Honk. They honk because they are happy: honk, honk, honk, honk.
I watch, and I listen. The geese will be leaving in another couple of days to continue on their noisy journey north. Spring is finally here!

Are you a happy person most of the time Or do you easily get angry sometimes Everyone has a different temperament (脾气). It is usually believed that both genes (基因) and environment may affect (影响) people’s temperaments in different ways. But now, scientists have found that the season of birth also plays a role.
Scientists studied 400 university students. In the study, the students needed to finish a questionnaire (问卷). The result showed that people born in summer more easily changed between sad and happy moods (情绪) compared with people born in winter. Those who always felt active were mostly born in spring and summer.
The study also found that those born in autumn less probably had a mood of depression which may easily drive them to cry, while those born in winter were not easier to be angry.
Scientists said that this was probably because the seasons had an influence (影响) on certain chemicals (化学物质) in the human body. The temperature drops, and cold winds blow. But this coldness creates a world full of wonder. Snowflakes (雪花) fall gently from the sky, like tiny white feathers. They cover the ground, houses and trees, making everything look pure and beautiful.
One of the best things about winter is playing in the snow. We can build snowmen. We give them carrot noses and old scarves. Having snowball fights is also really fun. We throw snowballs at each other, laughing and running around.
Winter also has its own charm indoors. We can sit by the warm fireplace and drink hot chocolate. The heat from the fire makes us feel warm. At night, when we look out of the window, the snow-covered streets, lit by streetlights, look like a magical picture.
And let’s not forget about winter holidays. Christmas and New Year come in winter. There are beautiful decorations (装饰物) everywhere, like colourful lights and Christmas trees. It’s a special time for families to get together, share gifts and have a great time.
