Step 1. Leading in (Waming-up)
The teacher will introduce himself briefly and show the students two pictures of him.
E.g.
T: Hello, everyone. I’m Daniel from Hunan. To let you know more about me, I will show you two pictures of me.
T:What is the difference between these two picutres?
I was thin 9 years ago. But I was fat 4 years ago. And now I am heavy. Do you know what makes the difference?
Ss: Maybe, it’s because you don’t have very good living habits.
Step 2. Fast Reading (Focus on the topic)
Jane is also asked by a magazine about her habits. Can you read the report and answer the following two questions.
What good habits does she have?
What bad habits does she have?
Step 3. One Minute’s Competition (expression preparation)
Students will be divided into several groups. Each group will be given just one minute to write down the good habits and bad habits they can think of.
Each group is supposed to write down the phrases on a big piece of paper given by the teacher.
The teacher will find the winner according to the number of the words or phrases they have written down.
Step 4. Conjunctive Words Learning (To combine the words and sentences logically)
1. Students will be asked to find out the conjunctive adverbs or conjunctions in the report.
2. Play a game. Students will listen to two pieces of music. They will try to fill in the blanks of the lyrics.
Step 5. Passage Structure Learning
Students will be asked to summarize the main structure of the report on the text book.
Heading—Body—Ending
Step 6. Have a try
Since there is no ending for the report on the textbook, students are supposed to write an ending of it with no more than 3 sentences by working in groups.
Step 7 Write and Improve
Students will be given a topic and asked to write a similar repot by working in groups. The reports will be presented on the stage. Other groups will give comments and improve the reports.
Step 8 Enjoy a Adapted Song Little Writing
It’s a song adapted from a very popular song Little Apples. In this song the teacher will summarize the steps of English writing.
