A. unlucky(不幸的);B. ordinary(普通的);C. wealthy(富裕的);D. traditional(传统的)。 Most of the families were rich, but some had difficulties affording the tuition... some students had scholarships because their families could hardly pay for basic needs"(大多数家庭很富有,但有些家庭难以支付学费,有些学生因家庭几乎无法支付基本需求而获得奖学金)以及后文描述妈妈有能力资助其他孩子(支付学费、买生日 cupcakes)可知,"我家"属于富裕家庭,故选C。
A. introduced(介绍);B. canceled(取消);C. organized(组织);D. discussed(讨论)。
A. chosen(选择);B. covered(覆盖,支付);C. written(写);D. brought(带来)。根据后文"which made it difficult for some families"(这让一些家庭很困难)可知,奖学金不"支付"这些费用,"covered"在此处指"支付费用",符合语境,故选B。
A. show up(出现);B. give up(放弃);C. take off(起飞,脱下);D. look out(小心)。根据"ask how many kids couldn't go... and then cover their fees"(问多少孩子因费用不能去,然后支付他们的费用)结合常识可知,妈妈需要"出现在"办公室才能做这些事,"show up"(出现)符合语境,故选A。
A. proudly(骄傲地);B. secretly(秘密地);C. quickly(快速地);D. carelessly(粗心地)。
A. birthday(生日);B. exam(考试);C. holiday(假期);D. meeting(会议)。根据"buy cupcakes for the kid"(给孩子买纸杯蛋糕)结合常识可知,这是生日常见场景,且"sending a gift"(送礼物)也与生日匹配,故选A。
A. borrowed(借);B. hidden(藏);C. changed(改变);D. ordered(订购)。
A. pointing out(指出);B. focusing on(专注于);C. making sure(确保);D. looking for(寻找)。
A. painful(痛苦的);B. exciting(兴奋的);C. funny(有趣的);D. boring(无聊的)。"watch others participate in something you couldn't afford"(看着别人参与自己负担不起的事)是令人难受的,"painful"(痛苦的)符合这种负面感受,故选A。
A. anger(愤怒);B. fear(恐惧);C. shame(羞耻);D. joy(快乐)。

Monkeys often help each other to raise their young babies. A new study has found that snub-nosed monkeys ( 金 丝 猴 )actually choose babysitters based on who has the most parenting experience.
This discovery was made by accident by a team of researchers at the Southwest Forestry University in China. While studying black-and-white snub-nosed monkeys during the baby season in Baimaxueshan National Nature Reserve(自然保护区), they noticed that the monkeys often passed around their newborns. They took turns to clean, carry, or even feed them.
This behaviour reminded the researchers of how humans babysit for each other, so they decided to watch the monkeys more closely. They followed the group every day for six months. There were more than 400 moments where a female monkey spent time with a mother and newborn. These moments involved cleaning the baby or gently pulling them closer.
Once the babies had grown up a bit, the mothers were more willing to let other females take care of them. They usually picked babysitters who had more experience with young monkeys. Younger females with less experience would still be allowed to look after the infants, but usually after a more experienced monkey had finished helping.
Chum-Yan Cui, one of the researchers, told New Scientist magazine that this was a good chance for the younger females to learn how to take care of babies, so they would be ready to care for their own babies in the future. She also said that more research needs to be done to find out if mothers choose babysitters based on the social status of monkeys or family relationships.
21.What did the new study mainly discover about snub-nosed monkeys
A.They usually feed their babies alone.
B.They choose babysitters with more experience.
C.They take care of babies in human-like ways.
D.They choose babysitters based on age.
22.How did the researchers learn about the babysitting behavior of the monkeys
A.Through a planned experiment in the lab.
B.By training monkeys to care for babies.
C.By chance during another field study.
D.From notes in an old research report.
23.Which of the following images best matches what the researchers saw during the baby season
A. B.
C. D.
24.What can be inferred about the role of younger female monkeys in the babysitting process
A.They help after experienced females and use the chance to learn.
B.They only help when the mother monkey is not around.
C.They are not allowed to help because they might harm the babies.
D.They usually lead the babysitting while older monkeys rest.
25.What is the purpose of the last paragraph
A.To introduce the background of the research team.
B.To explain the parenting habits of male monkeys.
C.To point out areas for future research and learning.

D.To compare monkeys with other animals.
