II. Teaching contents
1. New words and phrases: everybody, straight, on, bamboo, along, road, king, remember, that, dangerous, sound, forest, funny, laugh, giraffe, quite, neck, leaf, north-east, bridge, cross, all day long, make beautiful sounds, make people laugh
2. New structures: Go straight on and you’ll find the Panda House.
Walk along the road.
Turn left, and to the west of the Lion’s Area, you’ll find the World of Birds.

IV. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead-in
T: Hello, boys and girls. Do you remember Sunshine zoo?
(1) Look at the picture and tell me what animals are living here. (Pandas.)
What do you know about pandas in Sunshine Zoo? You can use the words and phrases on the screen to help you.
(2) What animals are living next to pandas? (Lions.) What do you know about them?
(3) What animals did the students see next? (Birds.) Where do they live and what are they like?
(4) I like monkeys. Where are they? Say something about them.
(5) What animals are living next to monkeys? (Giraffes.) What do you know about them?
(6) What animals did the students see at last? (Elephants.) What do you know about elephants?
T: The red line on the picture shows us the way to see different animals. Do you think it is possible to drive fast on such a path? No, because it is not straight.

Step 2 Presentation
1. Straight
(1) adj.
Car can go fast on straight roads.
The girl has straight hair.
(2) adv.
“Straight” can also be used as an adverb. Look at the sign. It means go straight on.
(3) Complete the sentences according to the pictures.
She is so tired that she goes straight to bed.
His mom asks him to go straight home after school.
2. Lie
T: What do pandas like to do all day long?
T: Can you think of any other expressions we’ve learned about “lie”?
lie in bed, lie on the sofa
lie on one’s stomach, lie on one’s back
3. Remember
(1) remember to do
T: The boy is lying on his stomach with the remote control in his hand, but his mom tells him to remember to watch TV for no more than an hour.
What do you have to remember to do if it is raining?
(2) remember not to do
T: Read the sentences again and rewrite them.
My mom tells me to remember to watch TV for no more than an hour.
We have to remember to drive slowly on rainy days.
(3) remember doing
T: Complete the conversation.
Pay attention to the difference between “forget to do” and “forget doing”/“remember to do” and “remember doing”.
4. Jump
T: Look at this room. Is it tidy? No, things are all over the floor. Guess what happened, using the phrase “forget to do sth”.
The children forgot to put away their toys.
The children forgot to close the window. The wind blew things everywhere.
The children forgot to close the door of the cage that keeps the monkey in.
T: What does the monkey like doing? Complete the sentences about monkeys.
5. Make sb do sth
T: Monkeys often make people laugh. What else can make us laugh?
What do your parents often make you do?
6. Give directions
(1) Fill in the blanks.
T: You’ve learnt a lot about how to give directions. Read the introduction on page 44 again and fill in the blanks.
(2) Look and learn.
T: Look at the following pictures and learn more phrases about giving directions.
