Are you afraid of tests What will you do to prepare for a test The following suggestions will be helpful.
Pay attention to what your teacher gives about a coming test. Write down exactly what you will be tested on. Knowing what the test will cover is half done.
Make a review list that includes important points from class and reading materials. Then your studying notes will be in one place. What’s more, rewriting the materials will help you to remember them.
Don’t cram (突击式学习)! Test preparation begins the first day of class, so keep on doing your reading and homework. Then you just need to review for the test—not learn all the materials. Waiting until the night before to try to learn everything will only put more stress on you.
Get a good night’s sleep before the test, but if you can’t, don’t pull an all-nighter. Research shows that getting at least eight hours of sleep produces better test results.
Eat a healthy breakfast to keep your mind sharp (敏锐的). Avoid sugar, as it will weaken your ability to concentrate (全神贯注).根据语篇内容做出判断,正确选A、错误选B、未提及选C。

As teenagers, we often have different ideas from our parents, which can lead to arguments and misunderstandings. But building a good relationship with parents is important for our growth. Here are some useful tips to help you get along better with your parents.
First, communicate with your parents regularly. Many problems between teenagers and parents come from lack of communication. Instead of keeping your feelings to yourself, share your thoughts and experiences with them. For example, you can talk about your school life, hobbies, or even the difficulties you face. When you communicate, listen to their opinions too. They have more life experience and can give you valuable advice.
Second, understand and respect your parents. Your parents work hard to provide for your family and care about you. Sometimes they may be strict, but it’s because they love you and want the best for you. Try to put yourself in their shoes. If you were a parent, how would you feel when your child disobeys you Respecting their rules and decisions will make them feel appreciated.
Third, help your parents with housework. Your parents are busy with work and housework every day. You can do small things to lighten their burden, like cleaning your room, washing the dishes, or taking out the trash. This not only shows your love but also makes them realize that you are growing up.
Finally, spend quality time with your parents. In your free time, you can watch a movie together, go for a walk, or have a meal. Doing activities together helps you create happy memories and get to know each other better.
Remember, building a good relationship takes time and effort. You may not see changes immediately, but if you keep trying, you will surely get along better with your parents.

To: Carla@ From: Eric@

Dear Dr. Carla, I’m having a problem with my classmate, Joan, at school. The other, I wrote an e-mail to another classmate, Beth, in which I said something about Joan that perhaps wasn’t very nice. Unluckily, when Beth was writing back to me, she sent it to Joan@! Now Joan is really angry with me and don’t talk to me. How do I get her to forgive (谅解) me
To: Eric@ ________ com From: Carla@
Subject: Some advice Date: 09/04/2024 8:30 A.M.
Dear Eric, This problem is more common than you might think! E-mail is very useful, but it’s also very dangerous as you don’t know where your message might end up! First of all, you should say sorry right away to Joan and explain that it was a mistake, and that you didn’t mean to hurt her feelings. It may take some time for her to forgive you, but that’s up to her. Then you might want to do something nice for her. Perhaps you can send her some flowers to show that you’re truly sorry. Also, you should remember that old saying: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” And good luck!

Have you ever wondered what you would do if someone nearby suddenly had a heart attack Would you be scared, not knowing what to do, or would you confidently provide help Imagine a scenario (场景) where your quick actions and knowledge of CPR and AED could save a life. Luckily, many junior high schools in Changchun have started classes to teach these life-saving skills, equipping (使有能力) students with the ability to take actions in such situations.
What exactly is CPR It’s a skill that includes pressing and saves breaths to help someone who has stopped breathing or whose heart has stopped beating. That usually happens when someone is having a heart attack, so the blood moves to the heart has stopped.
Knowing how to use an AED can truly be a life-saving skill. AEDs are small tools that pass an electric shock to the heart to bring back its normal beating pattern. The machines are user-friendly with clear instructions so even untrained people can run them.
CPR and AED training can help not only the single person but also the community. Imagine being in a public place when someone suddenly falls down. In situations like these, people who are trained in CPR and AED can step in at once and provide help until professional medical help arrives. Each minute that someone’s heart isn’t beating lowers their chances of living by 10 percent. If more people were trained in these skills, communities would be safer.
Also, CPR and AED training gives confidence to people to act not only in emergencies (紧急情况) but also in everyday life as it develops a sense of preparedness.
Actually, in those scary moments when someone is in need of help, emergency training can indeed make the difference between life and death.

First, put two objects with the same weight into two boxes. Then cover the boxes. Wrap (包裹) one box with a red piece of paper, the other with a white piece of paper. Now hold the boxes with your hand one by one. It is certain that you will think the red one is a little heavier.
Why does it happen A scientist found that different colors have different weight in a man’s mind. So he did many tests and at last he got the result. That is to say, every color has its own weight in our mind. The heaviest color is red, then blue, green, orange, yellow and white.
According to this discovery, scientists say that people accept the color they like, and refuse the color they hate. So your body and mind will be healthy by using the colors you like. Or you’ll be nervous or even get ill. If you stay in a room with red windows, wallpapers and furniture (家具) for two hours, you’ ll feel you have been there for four hours. Have you ever had problems in your life and don’t know how to be happy If so, you will find “Being a Happy Teenager” by Australian writer Andrew Matthews useful.

Success comes from a good attitude. If you learn from problems, you will have success in the future. Some school boys have problems such as being too tall or too short, but Matthews tells us happiness comes from thinking about things in a positive way.
