In this lesson, students can talk about many interesting topics about their daily life, such as what subjects they like and why they like them, their daily schedules and so on. Such topics are related to their daily life, so it is easy to arouse the Ss’ learning interests.
According to the New English-course Standard, reading skills are very important to students. So they should try their best to improve their reading skills. And this lesson is a reading lesson, students can make their reading skills improved by studying this lesson. Therefore this lesson is in the important position of the teaching material. Analysis of the studentsThe students have learned English for years. Maybe some students can understand some words and some sentences easily. Some students find English is more and more difficult now and they are trying to give it up.
As students, they are curious, active, and fond of games, competitions, and various activities. They enjoy learning through cooperation in a relaxing atmosphere.

(1) Ask Ss to skim this passage and check the answers of the guessing game: What subjects does Yu Mei like and dislike?
