Since the start of robots, many people have been afraid that robots would take the place of humans in some fields. Now, some scientists say AI robots really are coming for some jobs. A March 2023 report said that AI could do a quarter of all the work that humans could do. In Europe and America, 300 million people may lose jobs because of AI.
But it’s not all bad news. Scientists have pointed out that there are still jobs that AI can’t do. People who get these kinds of jobs have less risk of losing work.
The first would be jobs that are really creative: you need to come up with new ideas and build something new. For example, in science, people whose job is coming up with new ideas may keep their jobs.
The second is jobs with important interpersonal relationships. Doctors and reporters are some of them. These are jobs where you need a very deep understanding of people. It will be a long time before AI has the ability to build relationships with human beings.
The third is jobs that really need lots of ability to solve problems, like welders (焊工). These are the kinds of jobs where you’re dealing with a new situation all the time. They are probably the hardest of anything to be taken place of.
In short, finding a job that needs adapting (适应) to the changing situations is a good way to avoid losing jobs.

Chinese Traditional Embroidery Goes Global
Embroidery is one of China’s traditional handicrafts with a history of over 2,000 years. In the past, it was mainly used to decorate clothes and home decorations. But now, Chinese traditional embroidery is going global and winning the hearts of people around the world.
One reason for its popularity is the unique design. Chinese embroidery often takes nature as its theme, such as flowers, birds, mountains and rivers. The patterns are vivid and full of Chinese cultural elements. For example, the “peony pattern” symbolizes prosperity and good luck in Chinese culture. Many foreign designers have added this pattern to their fashion works. Last year, a famous Italian fashion brand used Chinese embroidery on its new clothing line. The clothes were sold out soon after they were put on the market.
Another reason is the high quality of Chinese embroidery. It takes a lot of time and skill to make an embroidery work. A skilled craftsperson may spend several months or even years on a single piece. The fine stitches and bright colors make the works look like real paintings. Many foreign art collectors are willing to pay high prices for Chinese embroidery works.
To promote Chinese embroidery globally, some Chinese companies have set up online stores on international shopping platforms. They also hold embroidery exhibitions in foreign countries. Chinese knotting is one of the most famous traditional handicrafts in China, with a history of over 1,000 years. It was originally used to tie and decorate things in ancient times, but now it has become a symbol of good luck and harmony. Chinese knots are usually made of red silk, cotton or nylon threads—red is a lucky color in Chinese culture, representing joy and prosperity.
Chinese knotting has various uses in daily life and festivals. During important festivals like the Spring Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, people hang Chinese knots at home, on doors or on windows to create a festive atmosphere. They are also popular gifts: people give knots to friends and family on birthdays, weddings or other special occasions to express their best wishes. Some even use small Chinese knots as decorations for bags, keychains or clothes.
Making a beautiful Chinese knot requires patience and practice. The process starts with choosing the right thread—thick threads are better for big knots, while thin ones are suitable for small ones. Next, the craftsman uses basic knots like the “cross knot” and “button knot” to form different patterns, such as flowers, butterflies or dragons. Each pattern has a special meaning: for example, a knot shaped like a fish stands for “abundance”, and a knot with two loops represents “double happiness”. Finally, the excess thread is cut off, and the knot is adjusted to make sure it looks neat and balanced.

Drink water.
It is often very dry in autumn and your body loses (丢失) water easily. So it is good to drink 500 ml of water two hours before you exercise, or just do it about 15 minutes after exercising.
Warm up your body.
Before doing sports, you have to do some warm-up activities (热身活动), such as walking or morning exercises, to get your body ready for sports.
Have outdoor activities.
It is cool outside and the air is much better. So outdoor activities like climbing the hills, riding a bike, running and jogging are much fun. These can make you relaxed and help you work well.

I never thought I would be a “runner”. I was the girl who ran slowest in the PE class. A few years ago, I was walking with a group of friends in the 5 km Race for the Cancer Treatment. This race helps to raise money for fighting cancer. As we walked, I noticed a lady.
She was one of the weakest-looking women I’ve ever seen. She must have been close to seventy years old, wearing a T-shirt with the word “Survivor (幸存者) ”. She seemed so weak that it looked like a strong wind could easily turn her over. But, she was running. And she was passing by me and my group of friends. She ran slowly, but actively—it felt like each step helped her move away from cancer. Right at that moment, I made up my mind to join the next Race for the Cancer Treatment. I’d run along with her.
A week later, I found myself in the gym, running on the treadmill (跑步机) . Three minutes after I started, my face was bright red. My heart was beating rapidly. I had to slow down to a walk. I thought of the woman at the race. I kept it up. I was able to go a little longer each time. Three and a half minutes. Four minutes. Five. . .
A year later, I was again at the Race for the Cancer Treatment, but this time, I stood with the runners. When the race started, the other runners passed by me. I ran forward. I wondered if I’d be able to do it. But then, I remembered the brave woman. I ran as fast as I could until I finally crossed that finish line. I just completed my first race! I looked down at my legs, amazed. They had done something I’d never thought possible. I had never felt stronger than at that moment.

C.Doing sports is a good way to treat diseases. D.We can break through the limit by trying hard.
