Two pairs of brown eyes stared eagerly up at me.It was October 2023 and I’d taken my dogs Candy and Tara for a run in woodland near Darwen,Lancashire.I kept an eye on both of them as they played and, when it was time to go,I blew the dog whistle.Candy came bounding up straight away, but Tara was nowhere to be seen.
I called her name, blew the whistle again and kept searching. But she’d completely vanished. There was a scattering of holes in the ground and, knowing that Tara loved rabbit holes,I thought she’d gone down one chasing a bunny!
I called my husband Alistair, who rushed to help me search. Then I called the fire service in case Tara was trapped in one of the holes.I messaged friends too, asking them to post on social media,“These are badger setts(獾穴),” a fireman explained.“They’re protected.I’m afraid we’re not allowed to dig here.”
So instead,we kept searching nearby. When it got to midnight, however,we headed home and my heart sank.We lived five miles away, and I was convinced there was no way Tara could make her way back.
The next day,we returned to where Tara was gone.We left behind a couple of Alistair’s sweatshirts so Tara would recognise our scent. As the days went by,I put my work as a dog groomer on hold to search for Tara.Reports of sightings came to nothing, and Alistair and I did daily shifts outside the badger setts.
Tara loved exploring.“I just couldn’t give up.” Then,on 15 November,23 days after Tara went missing,Candy and I were walking towards the badger setts when she began sniffing(嗅) the ground and spinning around.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
I felt a ray of hope and called out,“Tara ”

I drove straight to our vet(兽医),who said Tara was so weak.

答案:
Ⅰ.
Dear Tom,
I am glad to share with you the featured sports activities during break in our school.Every morning,we have a 20-minute extended break where students participate in various fun exercises. Some play traditional Chinese games like shuttlecock kicking and rope skipping, while others practice tai chi or dance in groups. The playground is always filled with laughter and energy.
My classmates and I find that these activities are refreshing. They not only help us relax after class but also improve our teamwork skills.Everyone enjoys the chance to move around and bond with friends. It’s now the most anticipated part of our day!
Looking forward to hearing about your school life too!
Yours,
Li Hua
加入:participate in→take part in
(1)Every morning,we have a 20-minute extended break where students participate in various fun exercises.(运用where引导的定语从句)
(2)My classmates and I find that these activities are refreshing.(运用that引导的宾语从句)
I felt a ray of hope and called out,“Tara ”Dry leaves crunched under my feet.Candy was digging at a pile of sticks when I heard a soft whine from the badger hole.My heart jumped—a muddy paw stuck out!“Tara!” I yelled.I pulled away sticks and leaves and found Tara shaking, with her dirty golden fur stuck together. She licked my hand weakly.Immediately Alistair ran over with a blanket.“Silly girl,” he said softly, and then wrapped her cold body. Her tail moved a little against my arm.
I drove straight to our vet,who said Tara was so weak.Tara’s eyes looked tired in the vet’s bright lights. Her paws were dry and hurt.“She needs water,” the vet said, putting a needle in her leg.I stroked her messy fur and felt her heart beating fast, like a small bird.Tara made a rough sound and pushed her nose into my hands.I cried—I’d waited for 23 days! The vet said in a comforting voice,“She’ll be okay, but needs rest.” Just then Candy slid in and lied down next to Tara, wagging her tail in the air.
