My grandparents had been married for over half a century. Throughout their lives, they played a special game called “SHMILY”. The rules were simple: one would write the word “SHMILY” in a surprising place for the other to find.
They took turns. “SHMILY” was written in the steam on the bathroom mirror after a hot shower. It was scratched in the frost on a windowpane on a cold morning. Sometimes, my grandmother even rewound (倒转) an entire roll of toilet paper to write “SHMILY” on the last sheet.

Mrs. Thompson was a primary school teacher. As she stood in front of the 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told her students that she loved them all the same.
