Welcome to Musée Rodin
The Musée Rodin, a hidden jewel in Paris, is actually the former residence of famed 19th-century sculptor Auguste Rodin. Here you can enjoy Rodin’s emotive sculptures, including The Walking Man, The Kiss and The Thinker, among many more. In addition to the sculptures, the museum houses 8,000 of the artist’s drawings in its collection— some of those are on display. Visitors will also get to view pieces from Rodin’s personal art collection, including paintings by Van Gogh.
Another big favorite for visitors, as much of a highlight as the art, is the beautiful on-site gardens. To travelers, the gardens create a peaceful atmosphere not found at other top Parisian museums.
Transport
The Musée Rodin is just a short walk from the Varenne stop and Saint-Francois-Xavier stop, both of which lie on Metro Line 13.
Opening times
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Admission charges
Admission to the museum (including the gardens and permanent and temporary exhibits) costs 13 euros (around $14) per adult and is free for kids who are 17 and younger; audio guides cost an extra 6 euros (about $6). The museum is free to visit on the first Sunday of the month from October to March.

It’s 4:30 in the morning. Behind a forest, the sun begins to lighten the sky with bright and warm tones. The national bird of Honduras, scarlet macaws(红金刚鹦鹉), which have colorful feathers, groom (理毛) each other as they wait for Anayda Pantin Lopez who has devoted the last 12 years to protecting them.
Pantin and her husband, Santiago Lacuth Montoya, live in a small village called Mabita, where most of its villagers protect these birds and the rest of the wildlife surrounding them. Twice a day, Pantin prepares food for 40 to 60 scarlet macaws that come to her village for feedings. She also cares for several other birds at a rescue center, or chicks that fall down from their nests, until they can fly freely.
Years ago, Lacuth supported the family by selling macaw eggs and chicks as pets— not realizing it would have a detrimental impact on the bird population. At that time, the hunting and sale of wild species was legal and thousands of scarlet macaws disappeared.
However, when Lacuth learned the number of scarlet macaws was sharply decreasing, he decided to become a guardian of them. He tried to convince other hunters to follow in his footsteps. Eventually, other Mabita residents joined Lacuth and Pantin’s efforts. “For many years the scarlet macaws helped me provide for my family. Now it was my turn to help them.” Lacuth said.
“The Mabita project is very impressive because of the commitment of Pantin and Lacuth and the entire community,” says LoraKim Joyner, founder of One Earth Conservation. In 2014, additional funds came from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, and England’s Darwin Foundation stepped in to support the conservation and community engagement efforts.
Since the project began, the scarlet macaw population has grown from 500 to more than 800. “Now we have seen that the number of these birds has increased,” said Pantin. “But that does not change our goal, which is to continue caring for them so that our children and grandchildren can have the opportunity to enjoy everything that nature gives us.”

It was one of those days when there was way too much to do. I had fallen behind in most of my household chores.
After breakfast, I sat down at the computer to write an article. My youngest daughter, Julia, walked toward me. “But, Mommy, I thought we were going to do something fun today,” she said. “Since it’s our day off from school.” “I know it’s your day off, but it’s not Mommy’s day off,” I explained.
“Can you play a game with me?” she begged. “Like candy land? Or beauty shop?” I sighed. I really didn’t have time to play. I desperately needed to get some work done. But then I had an idea. “Can we play beauty shop while I work?” So I got my article done, and my toenails(脚趾甲) painted at the same time. My oldest, Austin, volunteered to fix lunch so I could keep working. Shortly after lunch, we went to the grocery store and I got what I needed. Back at home, the kids decided to play “grocery store”. For the remainder of the afternoon, I cleaned house, folded laundry, and started dinner. The kids continued with their game until my husband, Eric, walked through the door.
He saw me and smiled, “So how was the kids’ big day off today?” I began to explain that we hadn’t done anything special. But my two middle kids, Jordan and Lea interrupted me. They told their dad, “We had such a special day today, Dad! It was a blast!” I looked at my children’s faces. They were lit up with excitement.
I nodded, realizing how right they were. Happiness is far more about our attitude than our circumstances. I hugged my kids and thanked them for reminding me to look for happiness in the little things. Julia smiled and said, “And the little things that make you the happiest are us, right, Mommy?” Wow, my kids sure are smart.

My name is Ben. I am 13, and I live in Chantilly, Va. Just yesterday, June 24, I was at home watching my sister, who is mentally handicapped(智力障碍的). My father was at work while my mother and younger sister were at my mother’s office.
I had noticed the clouds growing darker and the ones to the east were turning green. At first I thought nothing of it, but then on TV, the weather reporter was announcing a big thunderstorm warning, one that usually brings hail(冰雹) and heavy rain.
After seeing that, I called my mother and told her about it. She told me I should not be worried because it was just a thunderstorm so we hung up. Then I looked outside and noticed it was almost pitch black at 4:30. I took a flashlight(手电筒) because I was sure the power was going to go out any second. Then no sooner had I gotten back from getting the flashlight than the weather reporter announced a Tornado Warning! I had never been in an actual tornado before, but I had seen some funnel clouds before in Montana.
Suddenly I realised I had no time to lose and I had to try to get my sister down the stairs to the basement in a matter of minutes. I surprisingly got her down there with no trouble at all and I raced back up the stairs to get the cordless phone. When I got back downstairs my dad called and told me to get downstairs immediately. I told him I was already down there! He said OK and we talked for a few seconds and then we hung up. Then through the basement windows, the only thing I could see was when lightning struck.
I do not recall hearing of any deaths, or too many injuries so I guess everyone got a good head start to run to their basements. Either they or we are all lucky.

First Aid in Fires
It is important to know what to do when you are in dangerous situations such as a fire.
When you are caught in a fire, don’t panic. Firstly, you should call 119 and report it to firemen at once. If you are in thick smoke, keep close to the ground and use a wet towel to cover your nose and mouth. Secondly, don’t take a lift or jump from a high building. You can fasten ropes to something that’s fixed and then slide down the building. Thirdly, don’t be unwilling to leave your money or other things behind. You should try to get away from the fire as quickly as you can. After all, life is more important. Once you get out of the fire, don’t go back into it again.

“No. Stop laughing. I just want to sing.” Dylan woke up sweating. He had that terrible dream again. When he was in the 8th grade, he entered his school’s talent show. The second he started to sing, the kids started laughing at him. No matter what others thought of him, singing was always something that made him feel like life wasn’t as unfair as it really was.
He finally got out of bed and let out a sigh, got washed up, dressed in a dark blue shirt and dark blue jeans, and headed downstairs to have breakfast. “Morning, honey,” his mom smiled. “Morning, Mom,” Dylan smiled back. He loved his mom. She was one of the few people who cared about him even though she had had cancer. “Good luck, Dylan, you’ll do great,” his mom told him. “Sure,” he simply replied. That’s what she thinks, he thought.
Dylan was in science class and the teacher was giving a lesson about cancer. When the teacher talked about cancer,Dylan felt his stomach drop.Even though his mom was in remission(缓解), every day he worried if the cancer would come back. If he lost her, he didn’t know what he would do. He felt that he was going to come apart. Dylan asked the teacher for a leave and then walked slowly to the bathroom.
When he finally stopped crying,he started to sing one of his favorite songs:Simon by Lifehouse. It was a song about feeling alone and having a friend who helped you. Dylan didn’t have any friends and wasn’t sure if he ever would, but he had his mom and that was enough. As he sang it, he started to forget about what happened in science class. Singing always made him feel alive. Then he saw a tall boy standing there. “I’m Ty. Nice to meet you,” the boy said with a smile.“Dylan,” he whispered.

Ty said, “Dylan. I think you’ve got a good voice and I play the guitar in a band called Shooting Star. Would you like to join the band to show your talent? We are looking forward someone like you to sing for us. Our band just has four members and no one can sing well like you.” Dylan hesitated for a minute and replied, “If it is so, I am willing to have a try.” In the following days, Dylan spared no effort to practice singing, which made himself and his mother feel pleased.
After practicing with the band for several months, Dylan decided to take part in the talent show again. Because he had prepared for the talent show for several months, he knew he could handle this. He was not fearful anymore. His band members also encouraged him and agreed to play the guitar for him while he was singing. This gave him much courage, so he was more confident. When the day came, he and his band members came to the stage. His voice was much more beautiful with the guitar. The performance was a huge success, leaving everyone under the stage surprised at his excellent performance.
