1. Guess game.
Guess! What is the name of the tree?
Show some pictures and some information and let the students guess the name of the tree.
1) You can always find them in Australia.
2) You can find a picture of it on the Australian national flag.
Show the answer and teach the new word “maple”.
The answer is maple ( 枫树).

Show some pictures and learn some knowledge about the syrup.

Step II Culture Tip
Maple syrup comes from the sap of the mapletree. It is a very interesting process. First, you put a tap in the tree so the sap can come out easily. The fresh sap from the tree is not sweet and it has almost no taste. Next, you boil the sap. This makes the sap thick and sweet. Now you have maple syrup!
