Daddy didn’t know how to express love. He was always busy working every day and blamed me for the mistakes I had made after he came home.
Once I broke my leg and it was Mom who held me in her arms all the way to the hospital. Later Dad pulled up right in front of the gate of the hospital. They asked him to move the car, saying the space was especially saved for the cars that carried patients. He shouted, “What do you think is this A tour bus ”
At my birthday parties, Dad always seemed to be out of place. He just kept himself busy blowing up balloons, setting the table and welcoming the guests. It was Mom who carried the cake with candles on it for me to blow out.
When I started to learn to ride a bike, I begged Dad to teach me, but he said I had to learn by myself. When my bike fell over and Mom ran to pick me up, he even stopped her. I was angry and decided to try harder. I practiced so hard that finally I could show him that I succeeded. He just smiled.
When I went to college, Mom did all the writing. Dad just sent money and told me that how great his garden looked because nobody played football in it.
Whenever I called home, he always said, “Wait, Tim. I’ll get your mother. ” However, Mom told me that Dad always asked her what I had said on the phone. When I got married, Mom cried. He just blew his nose loudly and left the room.
Dad just didn’t know how to express his love, but now I know he loves me deeply.

Rules are everywhere and very important to us. Rules are also important in sports. So a teacher named Lisa interviewed one of her students, Edward. She wanted to know students’ opinions about rules.
(L= Lisa E= Edward) L: Hello, Edward. What are you doing E: I am writing a report about rules. Our P. E. teacher told us that rules are important in sports. L: What do you think of the rules in sports E: I think rules can tell players what they can do and cannot do. If a player breaks a rule, he will be punished and the competition will be interrupted (打断). So every member must follow the rules. L: Could you please tell me what your P. E. teacher said E: Sure. Firstly, he took the basketball rules as an example. Players score points by putting the ball into another team’s basket. Their shooting (投篮) can be worth (值……) one, two, or three points. Players must move the ball and they can pass it to a teammate. L: And I have heard that players may not keep the ball or run with it. Is it right E: Quite right! Because this would not allow other players to get the ball. L: Oh, I know. Anything else E: Then the teacher also talked about football rules. The game lasts for 90 minutes and is divided into the first half and the second half. In each half of the game, the chief referees (首席裁判) should make sure that the rest time is enough. And they can also decide the time spent in changing players. L: Thanks for your explanation.

44 When kids break rules, parents will give them some punishments, which aren’t included in rules. In fact, when you tell your kids about a new rule, you should talk with them about the price they should pay for breaking the rule — what the punishment will be.
45 For example, if you find your son smoking, you may limit his social activities for two weeks. 46 A study shows that the most popular punishment is to limit kids’ TV time.
It’s understandable that you’ll be angry when rules are broken. 47 Sharing your feelings of anger, disappointment or sadness with your kids can have a better effect on them. Try to do that. When your kids know what they have done has made you sad, they will feel guilty. When they know their actions influence you greatly, they will obey rules better.
48 If your rules or ways of punishment make them unhappy or under a lot of pressure, are they helpful
A.Kids will not obey the rules.
B.Rules are made to help your kids behave better.
C.You felt angry when your kids broke the rules.
D.Many parents like setting family rules for their kids.

G.You should punish your kids only in ways you have discussed before the rule is broken.
Dear Principal,
I think the students in our school should wear uniforms. Many schools have already had them. Uniforms would help our families save money since we would need to buy only one or two uniforms for the whole year. Uniforms could also give us more pride in our school. And best of all, if we all wore uniforms, students wouldn’t tease each other about their clothes.
I know some students think uniforms are ugly and uncomfortable. But maybe we can pick uniform that everyone likes. I think this is a wonderful idea for our school.
Sincerely,
Justin Jones

“Keep your eyes on your own paper” is one of the rules that Mrs. Archer has taught us. It is a simple rule, but it’s not a rule everybody chooses to follow.
This morning, I had an experience with a “rule breaker” during an English exam. I felt somebody was watching me a little too closely. I turned my head quickly and saw James, who sat right behind me. My eyes caught his and he said in a low voice, “I hope you studied for this test!” I gave him a smile, not sure whether he was joking or not, and returned to my test. This time I leaned a little more closely towards my paper. “I can’t see!” James said.
“What am I going to do ” I thought to myself. Cheating went against my beliefs. I curled my arm around my answers.
“He’s your friend and what are friends for ”
“You know it’s wrong.”
I tapped(轻敲) the top of my desk, hoping for an easy way out of this matter. No easy answer came. I just knew I had to do what I felt was right, even if it made James mad. So I guarded my paper so that he couldn’t see my answers.
When the exam ended, I stood there for a moment, searching for the right words to say to James. “Sorry, James, but you know me well enough to understand how I feel about cheating.” I said slowly and softly. “But maybe I could help you study before the next test.” “OK, Brian,” he smiled. “It might not be easy, but I’ll give it a try.”
I felt happy that my friendship with James hadn’t been destroyed. Mrs. Archer would be proud.
67.Who was the “rule breaker”
A.Mrs. Archer. B.James. C.Brian. D.A boy on the left.
68.Which three actions had the same purpose

70.What does the underlined word “destroyed” in the last paragraph mean in Chinese
A.保护 B.破坏 C.维持 D.珍惜
71.Why did the writer think Mrs. Archer would be proud
A.Because he and James helped each other in the exam.
B.Because both he and James did very well in the exam.
C.Because he didn’t let James copy his answers in the exam.
D.Because he followed the rule and kept friendship with James.
When you want to ask your teacher a question during class, what do you do Do you simply shout out your question as soon as it enters your mind Or do you raise your hand and wait until the teacher calls your name
If you politely raise your hand first, it’s probably because your teacher has a rule that regulates (规定) what you are allowed to do when you have a question. Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone can simply talk whenever they want during class Instead of a peaceful learning environment, a classroom without rules would be chaotic (混乱的)!
When you learn to drive, you’ll realize how many rules you have to follow. The rules for driving share a common purpose (目的) with many rules you must follow in your daily life to keep you safe. As an ancient Chinese saying goes, “No rules, no standards.” If you make a list of the rules you follow each day, you will quickly realize how many of them can keep you safe and make your life more enjoyable as a result.
Although sometimes you feel like a rule is unjust (不公平的), don’t break it. Instead, decide what you can do to change the rule. Working within the rules to change the rules is what you need to do.
72.How does the writer start the passage
A.By giving examples. B.By describing a situation.
C.By asking some questions. D.By providing some materials.
73.To keep order in the classroom, what can teachers do according to Paragraph 2
A.Change some unjust rules. B.Set some rules in advance( 提前).

Lee loved tennis. He had a few old balls and an old racquet(球拍) that his grandfather gave him. They belonged to the old man when he was a world-famous tennis player a long time ago. Lee was happy when he was practicing his shots against a wall at his house. He hoped that he would also become a famous player one day.
However, Lee’s family was very poor. There was not enough money to pay for tennis lessons, the white clothes or a new racquet. Lee tried playing with other players who played on the courts(球场) in his town, but they just made fun of his old racquet and clothes. When I was 19 years old, I was at a dance club. As we were walking to my car one cold night, a man walked up to us. Behind him was a woman carrying a small child. The child had a jacket on but it wasn’t buttoned up(扣上). The man began to tell us he wanted to borrow some money for the night to get his wife and kid into a hotel. He had a job but no place to live in and was waiting for the first paycheck. He said he could get our mailing address and mail the money back.
The guy I was with reached into his pocket to give this man a $20 bill. As the man was reaching his hand out to take the money, I put my hand on my new friend’s hand and said, “Can I talk to you for a minute ”
I told him that every day people asked my mother for money on her way to work. She said they made more money than she did, simply begging for money. These people were cheating those with soft hearts. And if they were truly worried about their child, they would have at least buttoned his jacket or covered him with his blanket.
My new friend looked at me with disappointment and said, “Michelle, I know there are people out there that take advantage of(利用)others. I also know there are people out there that are one paycheck away from being homeless. If I give $20 to 10 people and only one of them really needs it and uses it for the right thing, it is worth it.”

Why do middle schools need rules The answer is simple. To keep order of course! Because without rules or regulations, there would be chaos (混乱). Now let me share some rules with you.
First of all, respect and care for all the people. In that way, you’ll be treated the same way. Next, you must attend school on time and remain seated during the class. If you are late once, there is a warning for you. If you are late for several times, you will get punished.
Before entering the classroom, throw away all food and drinks unless you feel like making your new sweater or shorts dirty. Upon entering the classroom, take off your hat. Also bring appropriate materials and supplies. The school cannot always provide them, so it is nice to have your own. Then listen to and follow all directions that your teachers give you, so you won’t mess up on a homework task or group project. If you have a question, raise your hand and wait for permission (允许) to speak, so as not to disturb (干扰) the learning environment. Last but not least, do your very best in the school.
87.How is the passage started
A.By giving a question. B.By giving some facts.
C.By listing some numbers. D.By telling a story.

D.To discuss how to change school rules.
89.Where can we read the passage
A.In a diary. B.In a travel magazine.
C.In a storybook. D.In a school notice board.
When you want to ask your teacher a question during class, what do you do Do you simply shout out your question as soon as it enters your mind Or do you raise your hand and wait until the teacher calls your name
If you politely raise your hand first, it’s probably because your teacher requires what you are allowed to do when you have a question. Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone can talk whenever they want during class Instead of a peaceful learning environment, a class without rules would be chaotic (乱的)!
When you learn to drive, you will realize how many rules you have to follow. The rules for driving share a common purpose (目的) with many rules you must follow in your daily life to keep your safe. As an ancient Chinese saying goes, “No rules, no standards.” If you make a list of the rules you follow each day, you will quickly realize how many of them can keep you safe and make your life more enjoyable as a result.
Although sometimes you feel like a rule is unfair, don’t break it. Instead, decide what you can do to change the rule. Working within the rules to change the rules is what you need to do.
