Whether you have a conversation with a friend or talk to someone for business reasons on the phone, there are some ways that can teach you how to be polite.
Mind your greetings. If you know the person you' re calling, you can start with a simple way like“Hello This is ... How are you doing today ” If you don't know the person, introduce yourself before starting a conversation.
Don't speak too loudly or quickly. If you talk too loudly, the person on the other end of the line may feel uncomfortable. If you talk too quickly, it may be difficult to hear you.
Don't make noises while talking on the phone. One of the most impolite things while you' re speaking on the phone is eating or drinking. It's impolite to let the other person listen to these sounds. You can either wait for the telephone conversation to finish, or ask if you may call him or her back after you finish eating.
Say thank you and goodbye at the end of a call. Since you aren't talking face to face, it can often be difficult to know when the conversation will end. By saying“Thanks for calling. Goodbye”, you make it clear that the phone conversation is over.
