(M) Hello, everyone. I am Oscar from Australia. It's my first time in China. Last Friday,I had a great time here. It was the Dragon Boat Festival that day. I learnt a lot about the festival.
It is a traditional Chinese festival to remember Qu Yuan who loved his country very much. When the army from another country took up his country, he was so sad that he killed himself by jumping into the Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month,278 BC. People wanted to save him by boat, but it was too late. They were very sad and then threw rice into the river to feed the fish so that they would stay away from Qu's body. From then on, every year on this day, people enjoy making zongzi which is made of rice with meat, eggs and so on. And the dragon boat race is another important part of this festival.
The Dragon Boat Festival is really a wonderful traditional Chinese festival. China is such an amazing country. The more I know about it, the more I love it.
