Text 1
W: I really want to go to the beach this weekend. The weatherman said it’s going to be warm.
M: Good. I hope it doesn’t cool off. You know that the weather in California is really changeable. One minute it’s hot, and then the next minute it’s cold.
Text 2
W: The weather forecast said that we would have another wonderful day tomorrow. Shall we go climbing Mount Tai
M: Good idea, but we’d better leave very early, or else we’ll get caught in traffic.
Text 3
M: I was going to buy a magazine but I changed my mind.
W: So what did you choose A storybook
M: I got a dictionary.
Text 4
W: There are 50 students in my Intro to History class! I’ve never been in a class with that many people. Last year, most of my classes had 20 students at most.
M: Yeah, my English class has 40 people, I think.
Text 5
W: What a beautiful day today! How about going for a walk in the park
M: I really want to go out, but I can’t.
W: Are you busy with anything now
M: No, but I got injured when I was playing football yesterday. My right foot still hurts when I walk.
Text 6
M: Hello, this is Peace Restaurant. May I help you
W: Yes. I’d like a table at 6:00 this evening.
M: Just a minute. I’m sorry, madam. There aren’t any tables left for 6:00 pm, but we can give you a private dining room at 7:00 pm.
W: That sounds good.
M: For how many people
W: Five couples.
M: All right. May I have your name, madam
W: Shelly.
M: All right! We’ve reserved a private dining room for you at 7:00 pm. Thanks for calling.
W: Thank you very much.
Text 7
W: Jeff, why did you come here We’ve agreed to meet at the restaurant at 8:00 pm, right
M: No, it is scheduled at 7:00 pm. I knew you would be mistaken, so I’m here to take you to dinner.
W: Sorry, I have my hands full now and forget the time.
M: That’s okay. Actually, it’s not fair to arrange so much work for you. Your boss is making life difficult for you.
W: I’m almost done with the work. There are some sports and literary magazines on the table. You can kill time by reading them while waiting for me. Besides, you can also watch movies on computer as long as you turn down the sound.
M: Okay. I just want to read the articles about table tennis.
Text 8
W: Jacob, your flowers aren’t growing very well.
M: Yeah. That’s why I called you here, Amy. I just started to learn to grow flowers recently and I don’t know what’s wrong with them. They are becoming less and less energetic.
W: Let me see… There’s too much water in the flowerpot. How often do you water them
M: I’m afraid they lack water in the hot sun, so I water them at noon every day.
W: Oh, that’s it. Jacob, listen, every two days or three days is enough. Flowers don’t need to be watered too often and too much watering can be damaging, which can cause the flowers to even die.
M: Oh, I never realize it. Luckily, the flowers look good.
W: Besides, it is also not advisable to water flowers at noon, especially in summer, as it can make their leaves turn yellow, just like yours. Well, I think I have to tell you more tips on how to grow flowers.
M: Yes. It’s much more convenient than learning from books.
Text 9
W: Hello, Ben! How was your weekend
M: Great, thanks! I visited York with Helen and the kids. York is a really beautiful historic city and there are lots of old buildings. And my friend booked us a really nice hotel.
W: Oh What did you do while you were there
M: Well, we visited the old castle on Saturday. I love history and the kids enjoyed exploring all the different rooms. And we visited the museum on Sunday. It’s so interesting. You can see what the town looked like in the past.
W: What did you do on Saturday evening
M: I wanted to go to a football match, but there were no tickets. So we went to see a movie instead. The kids liked it, but I didn’t. It was boring, to be honest.
W: What did you do for food
M: Helen likes trying new food different from Italian food. So we planned to go to a Thai restaurant. Helen enjoyed it, but the kids didn’t like the food, so we walked to a Chinese restaurant, further along the street.
Text 10
M: Hello, everyone. My name is Sam Thomas. I’m from WSP, short for Worldwide Students Project. It is a service organization which was set up to improve international understanding. Now we’ve got volunteers from 30 different countries working around the world. If you’re interested in joining us, I’d like to tell you about some of the projects. There are three kinds of projects to choose from: short-term projects, lasting 2 or 3 weeks, medium-term projects lasting between 1 and 6 months and long-term projects, which can be up to a year. The first project I’d like to tell you about is in Japan. It’s a village improvement project. You’d be working with local people. So, you need knowledge of Japanese for that. It is for 3 weeks. The next one is a children’s holiday centre in Poland. The work includes painting rooms, gardening and things like that. It’s a medium-term one lasting 6 weeks. The final project is for the medical students here. There is a placement in a centre for disabled children in India. You’d be providing medical care there. You’ll work for 6 months there. So you can get plenty of experience and do something for the disabled children.

根据第一段中“The Chinese pancake, or jianbing, is one of the most common breakfast foods in northern China, usually filled with materials like vegetables, eggs and spicy paste. On the video-sharing platform Douyin, French chef Corentin Delcroix’s video of his own type of jianbing has been viewed about 250,000 times. But just how does his differ It is packed with cheese, ham, pickles (泡菜) and black truffle mayonnaise (黑松露蛋黄酱)—materials typically found in French pancakes…”和第二段中“…Delcroix decided to share his favourite Chinese and French dishes on social media. And many of his videos show him preparing dishes that combine elements of both cuisines.”
根据“It is through the viewers that I get to learn how to create truly local dishes. The suggestions are faster and more direct than those from the market…”(通过观众,我学会了如何制作真正的当地菜肴。
根据最后一段中“‘I always feel that there might be cultural barriers when Chinese chefs introduce their local cuisines to foreigners. It might be much easier for a foreigner to explain,’ he adds. ‘I want to be that bridge.’”
根据第二段中“…Delcroix decided to share his favourite Chinese and French dishes on social media. And many of his videos show him preparing dishes that combine elements of both cuisines.”可知,德尔克鲁瓦创新地将中法两国美食元素结合,并做成菜肴在社交媒体上分享,说明他是一个富有创造力的人;根据第四段中“Despite having learned so much about Chinese cuisine over the years, Delcroix is still hungry for more knowledge.”和第五段中“Looking ahead, he wants to do more to spread Chinese cuisine to people overseas.” 故选A项。
C
根据第二段内容可知,这种晶体预计将为地球提供能源,它由科学界以前未知的材料构成,是透明的,大约有一根头发丝那么宽,它形成于大约12亿年前火山活跃的月球区域;由第三段中的“One of the primary ingredients found in this crystal is helium-3 (氦-3), which scientists believe may provide a stable fuel source for nuclear fusion reactors. The element is incredibly rare on the Earth, but it seems to be fairly common on the moon.”
根据第三段中“China’s next moon mission is expected to be carried out by Chang’e 6 in 2024, which will attempt to collect the first samples from the far side of the moon, which never faces the Earth.”
根据第四段中“Although it is too early for scientists to have made financial estimates on such a fuel source, it will undoubtedly be extremely costly.”以及第五段“Helium-3 produces significantly less radiation and nuclear waste than other elements. The current nuclear fusion process has raised serious safety concerns, and as a result, scientists have been searching for a way to create nuclear power from nuclear fusion. During the fusion process, radioactive waste is not produced, potentially making a more secure and more efficient fuel source.”
第一段“A lunar crystal (晶体) was found in lunar basalt particles (玄武岩颗粒) collected from the moon in 2020 when the Chinese moon mission landed in Oceanus Procellarum, returning with more than 1.7 kg of lunar samples delivered safely to the Earth.”
根据文章第一段“Glass Health is a San Francisco-based company co-founded by Dereck Paul and Graham Ramsey. It began by offering an electronic system for keeping medical notes and is now among several companies hoping to use artificial intelligence chatbots(聊天机器人) to make a difference in medicine. These firms believe that their programs could significantly reduce the paperwork pressure physicians face daily, and improve the patient-doctor relationship.”
根据文章第二段“‘I think it’s very exciting, but anything that involves decision-making about a patient’s health should be treated with extreme care,’ says Pearse Keane, a professor of artificial medical intelligence at University College London in the United Kingdom.” 故选A。
根据文章第三段“Paul says he is well aware of the problems and that doctors who use his company’s AI system need to check it.”以及第四段“Paul and his co-workers have created a program called ‘Glass AI’ based on ChatGPT. A doctor tells the Glass AI chatbot about a patient, and it can suggest a list of possible diagnoses(诊断) and a treatment plan. Rather than working from the raw ChatGPT information base, the Glass AI system uses a virtual medical textbook written by human doctors as its main source of facts—something Paul says makes the system safer and more reliable.”
根据文章最后一段“Last December, his company had around 500 users. But after they introduced their chatbot, the numbers jumped. ‘We finished January with 2,000 monthly active users, and in February we had 4,800,’ Paul says. Thousands more signed up in March, as overworked doctors lined up to give AI a try.” 故选A。

根据下文“It’s useful to get the team from everyday surroundings into somewhere unexpected. This not only can improve creativity, but also help build a closer relationship within the team. You could hold team meetings at a cafe, at the company lawn, or even at museums or amusement parks.” 故选A项。
40.C 上文“Bring humour to teamwork through fun cartoons, little jokes and even a series of fun video clips.”提出用幽默来促进团队合作,但下文“Too much humour can take the focus away from the real work.”

One possible version:
Dear Mike,
Thank you for your trust. As for me, I will definitely recommend Sichuan hot pot to you.
Hot pot enjoys the greatest popularity in China. Families and friends often gather around a big hot pot, eating and chatting cheerfully. The steaming pot is usually filled with chilli peppers with bright red oil on the top.
Because everyone is free to choose their favourite food, hot pot has become a representative of Chinese values of openness, equality and sharing. That is why I strongly recommend it to you.
Have a try and I am sure you will love it.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
One possible version:
My mother was so happy that she could teach me singing at home with this piano. She hugged me tightly and told me the piano was a gift from heaven, giving me a chance to pursue my dream of singing. Though we did not have money for lessons, my mother said she would teach me all she could remember from her own music lessons as a girl. Every evening after supper, we would sit together at the piano as my mother showed me simple scales and melodies. I practised the songs we had always sung together, this time with the piano accompaniment. Making music with my mother quickly became the highlight of my days, filling our small home with joy and hope.
The next term, I became the lead singer of the school chorus, which was one step closer to my dream of becoming a singer and inspiring people with my voice. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to perform in front of others and to share my love of music. My mother’s unwavering support and encouragement gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams despite any obstacles that might come my way. As I stood on stage, singing my heart out, I knew that my mother was there with me in spirit, cheering me on every step of the way. It was a moment I would never forget, and it inspired me to work even harder towards my goal of becoming a professional singer.

The Chinese pancake, or jianbing, is one of the most common breakfast foods in northern China, usually filled with materials like vegetables, eggs and spicy paste. On the video-sharing platform Douyin, French chef Corentin Delcroix’s video of his own type of jianbing has been viewed about 250,000 times. But just how does his differ It is packed with cheese, ham, pickles (泡菜) and black truffle mayonnaise (黑松露蛋黄酱)—materials typically found in French pancakes, which Delcroix says aren’t all that different to Chinese pancakes.
Delcroix’s addiction to Chinese cuisine started in 2002 when he was studying in Beijing. “The first Chinese dish I learned to cook was scrambled eggs with tomatoes. But my favourites are cooked wheat-based foods such as jiaozi and xiaolongbao,” says Delcroix. After learning how to prepare some of the popular local dishes, Delcroix decided to share his favourite Chinese and French dishes on social media. And many of his videos show him preparing dishes that combine elements of both cuisines.
But this effort is not just about self-improvement—Delcroix says he has also managed to learn more about Chinese cuisines through the comments that he receives from his viewers. “It is through the viewers that I get to learn how to create truly local dishes. The suggestions are faster and more direct than those from the market,” Delcroix says.
Delcroix is presently a chef, a successful businessman and a food blogger who has millions of followers on Chinese social media platforms. Despite having learned so much about Chinese cuisine over the years, Delcroix is still hungry for more knowledge.
Looking ahead, he wants to do more to spread Chinese cuisine to people overseas. “I always feel that there might be cultural barriers when Chinese chefs introduce their local cuisines to foreigners. It might be much easier for a foreigner to explain,” he adds. “I want to be that bridge.”

A lunar crystal (晶体) was found in lunar basalt particles (玄武岩颗粒) collected from the moon in 2020 when the Chinese moon mission landed in Oceanus Procellarum, returning with more than 1.7 kg of lunar samples delivered safely to the Earth.
The crystal found on the near side of the moon is giving scientists hope of providing limitless power for the world forever. It is made of material previously unknown to the scientific community and contains a key ingredient for the nuclear fusion (核聚变) process, a form of power generation that uses the same forces that fuel the sun and other stars. It is transparent and roughly the width of a single human hair, and it formed in a region of the moon where volcanoes were active around 1.2 billion years ago.
One of the primary ingredients found in this crystal is helium-3 (氦-3), which scientists believe may provide a stable fuel source for nuclear fusion reactors. The element is incredibly rare on the Earth, but it seems to be fairly common on the moon. China’s next moon mission is expected to be carried out by Chang’e 6 in 2024, which will attempt to collect the first samples from the far side of the moon, which never faces the Earth.
Although it is too early for scientists to have made financial estimates on such a fuel source, it will undoubtedly be extremely costly. There is, of course, the matter of bringing the crystals back from the moon, especially in large amounts that are needed to fuel fusion reactors.
Helium-3 produces significantly less radiation and nuclear waste than other elements. The current nuclear fusion process has raised serious safety concerns, and as a result, scientists have been searching for a way to create nuclear power from nuclear fusion. During the fusion process, radioactive waste is not produced, potentially making a more secure and more efficient fuel source.
Around 25 tons of helium-3 could power the US for a year. Multiple private companies and countries with space agencies have signaled their intentions to mine the moon for helium-3, and this latest discovery could kick-start the race.
( )28.What can we learn about the crystal
A.It is 1.7 centimetres wide.
B.It is expected to power the Earth.
C.It is commonly found on the Earth.
D.It is made of previously familiar material.
( )29.What will Chang’e 6 try to do in the next moon mission
A.Collect up nuclear waste.
B.Find out the elements of helium-3.
C.Set up lunar nuclear fusion reactors.
D.Take back the samples of lunar crystals.
( )30.What is helium-3 as fuel expected to be like
A.It is low in cost. B.It is clean and safe.
C.It absorbs radiation. D.It produces no waste.
( )31.What is the best title for the text
A.A struggling race to make crystals
B.An undoubted discovery powering the US
C.An efficient way to collect crystals from the moon
D.A rare moon crystal discovered by Chinese scientists

Glass Health is a San Francisco-based company co-founded by Dereck Paul and Graham Ramsey. It began by offering an electronic system for keeping medical notes and is now among several companies hoping to use artificial intelligence chatbots (聊天机器人) to make a difference in medicine. These firms believe that their programs could significantly reduce the paperwork pressure physicians face daily, and improve the patient-doctor relationship. “We need these folks not in burnt-out states, trying to complete documentation,” Paul says.
Some independent researchers have expressed their fears of the rush to include the latest AI technology in medicine. “I think it’s very exciting, but anything that involves decision-making about a patient’s health should be treated with extreme care,” says Pearse Keane, a professor of artificial medical intelligence at University College London in the United Kingdom.
Paul says he is well aware of the problems and that doctors who use his company’s AI system need to check it. “You have to supervise (监督) it in the way you supervise medical students, which means that you can’t be lazy about it,” he says.
His company is now working to reduce the risk of errors. He believes the underlying technology can be turned into a powerful engine for medicine. Paul and his co-workers have created a program called “Glass AI” based on ChatGPT. A doctor tells the Glass AI chatbot about a patient, and it can suggest a list of possible diagnoses (诊断) and a treatment plan. Rather than working from the raw ChatGPT information base, the Glass AI system uses a virtual medical textbook written by human doctors as its main source of facts—something Paul says makes the system safer and more reliable.
Last December, his company had around 500 users. But after they introduced their chatbot, the numbers jumped. “We finished January with 2,000 monthly active users, and in February we had 4,800,” Paul says. Thousands more signed up in March, as overworked doctors lined up to give AI a try.
( )32.What could Glass Health’s present program do
A.Boost patients’ mental health.
B.Update hospitals’ medical records.
C.Help reduce errors in doctors’ treatment.
D.Relieve doctors’ pressure of handling paperwork.
( )33.What is Professor Pearse Keane’s attitude to the latest AI technology in medicine
A.Objective. B.Supportive.
C.Worried. D.Opposed.
( )34.How does Paul’s company ensure Glass AI’s reliability
A.By operating the system based on doctors’ advice.
B.By employing medical students to use the system.
C.By training chatbots to select correct raw ChatGPT information.
D.By drawing on human wisdom as the basis for medical practices.
( )35.What can be inferred from the last paragraph
A.Glass Health has vast market potential.
B.Doctors will be free from paperwork soon.
C.Glass Health has an unstable number of users.
D.Doctors need a balance between life and work.

It was the last day of school, and the long year spent in fourth grade had finally come to an end. It had rained heavily all day, and by the afternoon it became chilly. The sun had dipped below the horizon (地平线) as I got home soaked (湿透) and cold. I rushed into my room and slipped into some dry clothes. Once I had changed, I joined my mother in the kitchen. She had already lit the fire to prepare supper.
The wood soon caught fire, and the warmth spread around the room. I tried to get closer to the fire as my body was shivering with the intense cold. My mother gently rubbed my back and said, “I am proud of you, my little hero,” as I told her how my schoolwork had improved. I remember her bright smile and the joy in her eyes.
My mother started humming the lyrics to one of my favourite songs, Heal the World by Michael Jackson. I immediately began to sing with my mother. We would always sing songs like this together. My mother knew how much I loved singing. She always felt sorry that she couldn’t afford to pay for music classes for me.
Life was not easy for us during that period. I was living with my mother after she separated from my dad, which happened the year before when I was in third grade. Sometimes the nights were tedious (单调乏味的) and tiresome as we did not have a television and the batteries in our old radio would often run out. However, I enjoyed the 20 songs that my mother and I sang together. As she hummed the tune and I sang along, I dreamed of a world where performing on stage would be the pillar (支柱) of my life. The turning point of my childhood came after the end of fourth grade. Our neighbour moved away and left his old piano to us.
Paragraph 1:
My mother was so happy that she could teach me singing at home with this piano.

Paragraph 2:
The next term, I became the lead singer of the school chorus, which was one step closer to my dream of becoming a singer and inspiring people with my voice.
