A [2024·浙江省金华市高一期末]
I am an anxious traveller. I arrive at airports and train stations extra early. I double-check all of my documents, and feel butterflies in my stomach until I’ve arrived where I’m going. Non-anxious people laugh at me for being nervous. I used to feel bad about it, seeing it as unreasonable and weak. Not anymore now, I’ve learned to respect my anxiety.
Recently, I was driving along a country road at the start of a long trip that would mainly be on a large highway. I began feeling that something could go wrong. What if I run out of petrol I worried, even though I still had plenty. So when I saw a petrol station just before the entrance to the highway, I decided to fill up. Just in case. And that’s when I discovered that one of my front tyres was badly deflated (漏气). If I’d taken no notice of my anxiety, the tyre would have blown on the highway. My planning ahead, even though it wasn’t necessary, saved me from a possible disaster.
A growing number of psychologists are getting the message out that anxiety and other negative feelings have a role to play in our lives. Psychologist Dennis Tiwary thinks our culture goes to extremes in demonizing (妖魔化) difficult emotions. She knows what it’s like to be trapped by anxiety. “I remember a period at work when there was a lot going on,” she says. Worries kept waking her up at 4 am and it kept her from falling back to much-needed sleep.
Instead of trying to stop this unpleasant feeling, however, Dennis Tiwary leaned into it. “If you sit with the anxiety, you have an opportunity to learn from it,” she says. “I usually write down two or three things I could do to solve it.” The next day, she always felt calmer.
But how do we manage anxiety before it takes control of us According to Dennis Tiwary, solutions include meditation (冥想), exercise, volunteering and close contact with nature.
( )1.Why did the author share his experience of driving on a country road
A.To show that anxiety could benefit us.
B.To argue that being nervous is unreasonable.
C.To warn us of the possible danger of driving on highway.
D.To inform us of the importance of making full preparations.
( )2.What do the underlined words “leaned into it” mean in Paragraph 4
A.Paid no attention to it.
B.Shared it with others.
C.Depended on it.
D.Faced it positively.
( )3.What is the function of the last paragraph
A.To provide an example.
B.To offer solutions.
C.To support an argument.
D.To give background information.
( )4.What is a suitable title for the text
A.The upside of anxiety
B.Learn to cope with anxiety
C.My struggle with negative feelings
D.Misunderstandings about difficult emotions
B [2024·湖南省邵阳市高一期末]
Travel allows us to experience the world. But as we travel, we are also leaving our footprints on every place we visit. This is why culturally immersive (沉浸的) travel is so important. Because the wrong kind of travel badly influences the world. One of the reasons we started this blog was to help others travel better and feel comfortable getting off the beaten path, communicating with locals and taking you“beyond the traditional bucket list (愿望清单)”, if you will.
People who only get 2 weeks off per year are often just looking for an easy destination with a beach to relax on. This isn’t travel. This is a vacation. But “immersive travel” or “cultural travel” is an entirely new type of trip. It is about experiencing and protecting the various traditions around the world. It’s about being open to new experiences and willing to step into another’s shoes. Cultural travel is jumping in with both feet and leaving your idea about what your trip should be behind you. It’s eating local dishes and sleeping in guesthouses. It’s building genuine connections with locals. It’s learning about the history of a country and leaving your trip with a greater understanding of the place you came to see and the people who live there.
Often times in today’s age, travellers will visit a country just to snap (拍照) some photos of the famous sights to post on the Internet or to drink the night away, or even just to relax on a tropical beach. But that kind of vacation can be harmful to the very communities you’re travelling to.
Beyond supporting the local communities and the protection of local customs and traditions, you’ll also experience some personal benefits through cultural travel. There’s simply no way to travel this way with a closed mind. You’ll get to know different cultures and understand them a lot better. You’ll also become less judgemental (评头论足的) of others the more you travel.
( )5.What’s the author’s purpose in writing the first paragraph
A.To recommend people not to travel.
B.To describe the importance of cultural travel.
C.To stress the harmful influence of travel.
D.To express his unique feelings about cultural travel.
( )6.According to the author, today’s travellers tend to .
A.build close connections with the locals during the travel
B.choose a tourist attraction for adventure and exploration
C.show more interest in the history of a travel destination
D.post the photos taken in the journey on social media
( )7.What can be inferred about the culturally immersive travel
A.It is only concentrated on local people’s lifestyle.
B.Its travellers should be open-minded and understanding.
C.It is a specific way to make comments on other cultures.
D.Its major focus is protecting local traditions and customs.
( )8.Where is the text probably taken from
A.A travel brochure.
B.A newspaper.
C.A blog post.
D.A historic magazine.

extra early. I double-check all of my documents, and feel butterflies
in my stomach until I've arrived where I'm going. Non-anxious
people laugh at me for being nervous. I used to feel bad about it,
seeing it as unreasonable and weak. Not anymore now, I've
learned to respect my anxiety.

Recently, I was driving along a country road at the start of a
long trip that would mainly be on a large highway. I began feeling
that something could go wrong. What if I run out of petrol I
worried, even though I still had plenty. So when I saw a petrol
station just before the entrance to the highway, I decided to fill up.
Just in case. And that's when I discovered that one of my front
tyres was badly deflated (漏气). If I'd taken no notice of my anxiety,
the tyre would have blown on the highway. My planning ahead,
even though it wasn't necessary, saved me from a possible disaster.

A growing number of psychologists are getting the message
out that anxiety and other negative feelings have a role to play in
our lives. Psychologist Dennis Tiwary thinks our culture goes to
extremes in demonizing (妖魔化) difficult emotions. She knows what
it's like to be trapped by anxiety. “I remember a period at work
when there was a lot going on,” she says. Worries kept waking
her up at 4 am and it kept her from falling back to much-needed
sleep.

Instead of trying to stop this unpleasant feeling, however,
Dennis Tiwary leaned into it. “If you sit with the anxiety, you have
an opportunity to learn from it,” she says. “I usually write down
two or three things I could do to solve it.” The next day, she
always felt calmer.
But how do we manage anxiety before it takes control of us
According to Dennis Tiwary, solutions include meditation (冥想),
exercise, volunteering and close contact with nature.

Travel allows us to experience the world. But as we travel, we
are also leaving our footprints on every place we visit. This is why
culturally immersive (沉浸的) travel is so important. Because the
wrong kind of travel badly influences the world. One of the
reasons we started this blog was to help others travel better and
feel comfortable getting off the beaten path, communicating with
locals and taking you“beyond the traditional bucket list
(愿望清单)”, if you will.

People who only get 2 weeks off per year are often just
looking for an easy destination with a beach to relax on. This isn't
travel. This is a vacation. But “immersive travel” or “cultural
travel” is an entirely new type of trip. It is about experiencing and
protecting the various traditions around the world. It's about being
open to new experiences and willing to step into another's shoes.
Cultural travel is jumping in with both feet and leaving your idea
about what your trip should be behind you. It's eating local dishes
and sleeping in guesthouses. It's building genuine connections with

locals. It's learning about the history of a country and leaving your
trip with a greater understanding of the place you came to see
and the people who live there.
Often times in today's age, travellers will visit a country just to
snap (拍照) some photos of the famous sights to post on the
Internet or to drink the night away, or even just to relax on a
tropical beach. But that kind of vacation can be harmful to the
very communities you're travelling to.

Beyond supporting the local communities and the protection of
local customs and traditions, you'll also experience some personal
benefits through cultural travel. There's simply no way to travel this
way with a closed mind. You'll get to know different cultures and
understand them a lot better. You'll also become less judgemental
(评头论足的) of others the more you travel.
