Adaptation and innovation (创新) of traditional opera is an important trend in Chinese opera circle in recent years. In order to attract young audience of new generation and keep up with the time, the traditional opera circle makes efforts to create new works. In recent years, traditional opera has come across the change of time and society. It gradually lost the main elderly audience and was not attractive to the young.
In order to find new opportunities, using modern sound, light and digital stage effects, China's traditional Peking Opera, also known as jingju, is appealing to young people in a fashionable and innovative way, as the classic art faces an aging audience.
The centuries old Tianleyuan Theater in Beijing has introduced fashionable performances of Peking Opera. The opera combines instrumental music, vocal performance, mime, dance and acrobatics (杂技).
Tianleyuan has a jingju art experience section and fashionable performances. It has attracted more than 2,000 audience members, mostly young people, according to theater staff.
“Good art should keep pace with the times, so does jingju,” said Zhang Zishang, a 22 year old performer of The Drunken Beauty, one of the classic jingju plays performed in the theater. “I feel today's performance is very special,” Zhang added. She was born into a family of jingju performers and has had 10 years of stage experience. “Innovation is good, but we must also carry on the basic elements of jingju,” another young performer Deng said.
According to Deng, innovation is perhaps the best way for jingju to deal with the problem of an aging audience. It has made successful attempts to combine jingju with local opera forms such as ballet when organizing performances abroad. “Innovation can help traditional arts go further. We are happy to see many young faces, and some of them even come twice to experience the ‘new’ art,” she added.
24.Why is adaptation and innovation of traditional opera important
A.To run after fashion.
B.To attract the young audience.
C.To improve digital stage effect.
D.To change the traditional opera circle.
25.Which of the following can best describe Tianleyuan Theater
A.A destroyer of Peking Opera.
B.An objector of modern opera.
C.A pioneer of innovative opera.
D.A defender of traditional opera.
26.How does Deng feel about the innovation of jingju
A.Favourable. B.Unreliable.
C.Worthless. D.Conservative.
27.Which one can be a suitable title for the text
A.The Traditional Opera Is Dying Out
B.The Future of the Traditional Opera Is Promising
C.The Performers of the Traditional Opera Are Supporting Jingju
D.Traditional Opera Circle Is Innovating to Attract Young Audience
C
You've probably heard the phrase, “Laughter is the best medicine.” Comedy on Referral has taken that idea and run with it, using stand up comedy to help treat people struggling with trauma (精神创伤) and anxiety in partnership with the National Health Service (NHS).
The idea came from comedian Angie Belcher's experiences teaching comedy at the University of Bristol. She found that students often told her how much stronger and more resilient (有适应力的) they were thanks to stand up comedy.
Inspired, she teamed up with the NHS in Bristol to create a six week comedy course for patients struggling with trauma in January. Following the success of this initial course, Comedy on Referral won NHS funding to help men with trauma in London.
Belcher said, “Past traumas are perfect for comedy. Comedy doesn't come from the happy, perfect moments of your life, but from our everyday struggles and major life events. People who've been through big life experiences such as losing a loved one and ill health often can't wait to tell me their stories, mostly because there's always something especially funny about the situation.”
Research has shown that laughter has positive psychological effects, such as decreasing levels of cortisol (the stress hormone) and increasing endorphins (the hormone that reduces the feeling of pain). It can even have physiological benefits, although less research has been done in this area. Current research has linked laughter and humour with increased levels of pain tolerance as well as short term cardiovascular (心血管的) benefits. More research is needed to prove these findings.
Nonetheless, the mental health benefits of regular laughter are widely accepted, and using comedy to treat mental health struggles could be a real breakthrough in the treatment of mental health.
28.Why is the phrase mentioned in Paragraph 1
A.To explain the harm trauma causes.
B.To stress the importance of laughter.
C.To show the effect of stand up comedy.
D.To state the idea behind Comedy on Referral.
29.How was the first six week comedy course for patients
A.Effective. B.Ambiguous.
C.Fruitless. D.Controversial.
30.What may contribute to a comedy according to Belcher
A.Struggling moments.
B.Funny moments.
C.Successful moments.
D.Boring moments.
31.What is the best title for the text
A.Comedy is one thing that can make you struggle
B.Laughter is useful for people's mental health
C.Anxiety can also make you feel better
D.Laughter will cure you of all diseases
D
Ridley Scott's famous war film Napoleon (《拿破仑》) is a series of successful battles looking for a better movie to connect them. Once again, Scott's craftsmanship (技艺) is on show here, but it's in service of a deeply shallow screenplay. A great actor is reduced to a ghostly presence in the middle of the movie, and his partner, the character who needs to give the film a beating heart, comes off as flat and hollow.
One of the problems is that the film script tries to put a lot of life into the running time of a single film. Naturally, it opens during the French Revolution, as Napoleon climbs up the political ladder of France with his war talents above all else.
Another part of the problem is that Kirby, the leading actress never really understands what to play with Josephine, a mysterious celebrity (名人) who becomes too much of a mirror for Napoleon. She couldn't give Napoleon a son, which resulted in their break up.
Was Napoleon the kind of world leader whose own insecurity resulted in killings we have seen in history That's here in a few places, but Scott is uninterested in making any sort of statement about Napoleon or men like him. A very just the facts approach of Napoleon is incredibly disappointing for a filmmaker who usually finds so much depth in the stories he tells. Worst of all, by the time Napoleon gets to Waterloo, we don't know much more about the main character than we did when we came in. That's a problem.
Having said that, the wonderful war scenes in Napoleon may be enough to prove its existence for fans of historical war films. Whether its bloodied bodies breaking through ice or waves of soldiers rushing into battle, Napoleon has some fantastic battle scenes. Maybe the point is that Napoleon Bonaparte was only truly alive when surrounded by so much death.
32.How do you understand the underlined word “hollow” in Paragraph 1
A.Solid. B.Deep.
C.Empty. D.Smooth.
33.What can we infer from Paragraph 2 to 4
A.The film successfully covers Napoleon's whole life.
B.Kirby has a good understanding of how to play Josephine.
C.People couldn't know Napoleon better through this film.
D.There are some outstanding features of Napoleon.
34.What does Paragraph 5 mainly talk about
A.The successful battle scenes in Napoleon.
B.The achievements of Napoleon Bonaparte.
C.The wars Napoleon Bonaparte fighting in.
D.The reason for Napoleon Bonaparte's aliveness.
35.What type of writing is this text
A.A news report.
B.A film review.
C.A historical document.
D.A science fiction.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Adaptations are currently popular in the movie industry. We're all familiar with film adaptations of books. __36__ Book adaptations of films aren't that common, but it's a medium that certainly takes skills to master.
The most well known version of a film being adapted to books is via the novelisation (小说化). Movie novelisations went through a boom period before the internet era. Fans wanted to know more about the fictional worlds and experience the story again in a new way. __37__ Thus, the novelisation was a great solution.
Meanwhile, the screen to page process has also opened up the possibility of sequels (续篇). Perhaps there simply wasn't financial investment to create a follow up to a film. Maybe a sequel idea simply felt more appropriate for a novel. __38__ In recent years for example, the film Heat, released in 1995 has received its own novel. ET: The Book of the Green Planet continued the extra terrestrial's journey after the completion of the film's narrative.
But what are the benefits of reading a novel instead of waiting for the big screen version Well, a novel can take its reader deeper into the mind of the characters that the film had to represent in a more visual way. __39__ Although a film might characterize a fantastic scene or a specific costume choice, it doesn't always tell why those things are important. Novelisations and sequels can take that extra step and shine a light on some of those movie making choices.
Book adaptations of films obviously won't ever replace cinema, and there's no need to choose one or the other. __40__
A.But what about book adaptations of films
B.Besides, descriptions can be more detailed too.
C.For a time, they were everything for cinema lovers.
D.Films being adapted to books has been talked repeatedly.
E.But they couldn't simply google it, or immediately purchase the production on tape.
F.Regardless, some terrific films have been expanded upon thanks to this medium.
G.Actually, these two mediums are considerably interdependent and complementary.

Emily White was born seventeen years ago with many physical issues affecting her tiny body. Some of her organs, bones and muscles were out of shape. Though no one expected her to survive, she did make it. But she had a strange figure that everyone could recognize, even from a distance.
In Emily's hometown, there was a yearly outdoor performance in the school hall at Christmas. Having been performed for so many years, it became one of the most important events for many of the townsfolk. Each year, many people tried out for the show, but most were turned down. Only the best performers could be included.
Emily had a most beautiful singing voice. Last year, she asked Mrs Owens, her music teacher, if she could join in the performance. Mrs Owens took a look at her body and said, “Child, you just don't fit. Everyone would stare at you, and that would make you uncomfortable. It would make them uncomfortable too.”
Without singing a single note, Mrs Owens sent Emily back through the door of the choral room (合唱室). Hurt and upset, Emily decided never to try out again. But things changed as the following school year, Mrs Owens retired and a new music teacher arrived—Mr Butler.
He had heard about Emily and suggested that she give it a try again. Emily didn't want to be rejected again, so she hesitated about it. But finally her love for singing and strong desire to join the performance outweighed her hesitation. She tried out again and learnt the result would be posted the next day on the door of the choral room.
Emily couldn't sleep that night, having turned in bed back and forth a thousand times as she was worried that she would be rejected again and would never fit in.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。

Finally, the day of the performance came.

Nowadays, when we see a movie, we may find the movie is familiar or we have seen the plot before. The movies we watch are always adapted from novels, such as Pride and Prejudice; the story has been put on the screen many times. The main plot is the same, but the expressing ways of the characters are different. If the director shoots the version that the audience think is failed, he will fail. As for me, I like to watch movies, compared to reading novels, because it saves time. I have to study every day, so I don't have much time to read a long story. What's more, the movie has voice and the characters are lively. So I get into the story very soon and I won't feel bored. Sometimes, reading a novel makes me sleepy. So watching movies is a good way to know the novels.

A.The versions of the movies.
B.The plots in Pride and Prejudice.
C.The differences between the movies and novels.

解析:考查词性转换。international是形容词,应修饰名词。visible的名词形式为visibility,表示“知名度”,为不可数名词。故填visibility。
63.答案:to find
解析:考查非谓语动词。be amazed to do sth是固定搭配,意为“对做某事感到惊讶”。此处表示游客惊讶地发现这两位伟大的作家之间的联系。故填to find。
64.答案:Recalling
解析:考查非谓语动词。句中已有谓语动词said,设空处作非谓语;recall与其逻辑主语Edmondson之间是主动关系,应用现在分词作状语;且位于句首,单词首字母应大写。故填Recalling。
65.答案:and
解析:考查连词。to hear the Chinese language和(to) see how Tang's play was being performed是并列关系,此处应用and连接两个不定式短语。故填and。

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
The next day, Emily hurried to school and anxiously glanced at the list of the result. Finally, the day of the performance came.
The next day, Emily hurried to school and anxiously glanced at the list of the result. To her great surprise, she was not rejected this time. Her name stood proudly at the top of the list. It was she, Emily White, who was chosen to be the lead singer! Emily couldn't believe her eyes. Just then, she felt a gentle pat on the shoulder. Mr Butler said to her with determined eyes, “Emily, I chose you to lead because of your extraordinary voice. Just believe in yourself.” Greatly moved and encouraged, Emily practiced really hard.
Finally, the day of the performance came. Standing in the front, Emily felt her throat tight and palms sweating. When the curtain rose, the eyes of the whole audience fell upon her. “Emily White!” Someone whispered. With Mr Butler's encouraging words in mind, she began to sing her heart out—her voice travelled in the hall like a nightingale's song. Everyone was shocked by her great talent and offered big rounds of applause. She was shining on stage—she knew now she was known to everyone not for her appearance, but for her voice as an angel's.

18.What is the speaker talking about
A.The versions of the movies.
B.The plots in Pride and Prejudice.
C.The differences between the movies and novels.
19.Where do movies originate
A.Dramas.
B.Novels.
C.Lives.
20.What is important to directors
A.The audience's opinion.
B.The characters' performance.
C.The novels' writers.

篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了Ridley Scott (雷利·史考特)的电影《拿破仑》存在的一些问题。
32.How do you understand the underlined word “hollow” in Paragraph 1

A.The film successfully covers Napoleon's whole life.

C.People couldn't know Napoleon better through this film.
D.There are some outstanding features of Napoleon.
解析:推理判断题。根据第四段中的“Worst of all ... That's a problem.”可知,人们看完电影后,对拿破仑的了解没有增加多少,由此可推知,人们不能通过这部电影更好地了解拿破仑。故选C。
