Learning objectives
In this lesson, students will be able to:
Master and use new words and expressions related to natural wonders, such as “natural landscape” “waterfall” “explorer” , and understand key sentences about travel-related conversations.
Through listening to conversations, students can improve their listening comprehension ability, especially the ability to extract key information about natural wonders and travel plans.
Have a better understanding of Chinese famous natural landscapes like Jiuzhaigou and the cultural figure Xu Xiake, and be aware of the cultural significance of travelling in Chinese culture.

Li Ming: I took these photos in Jiuzhaigou. It’s a famous natural landscape in Sichuan Province, China. My family and I visited it during the summer vacation.
Danny: I’ve never seen anything so beautiful!
Li Ming: Yes, and this is just a small part of it... Imagine being there! Jiuzhaigou has clear lakes, rich forests, and stunning waterfalls. You get to see many different plants and animals. I really enjoyed my trip! Do you have any plans for your vacation, Danny

Li Ming: I believe you will have a great time. There is a Chinese saying, “Read ten thousand books and travel ten thousand li!” I also hope to see more places, just like Xu Xiake.
Danny: Who is Xu Xiake
Li Ming: He was a Chinese explorer in the Ming Dynasty. He loved exploring new places in China and wrote about his journeys in a book, The Travel Diaries of Xu Xiake.
Danny: Wow! I think I’ll try reading this book. Let’s go on a trip together next year. I’d love to travel around China with you and Jenny!
