Dear fellow students,
A true low-carbon campus requires more than slogans—it demands action. Yet around us, lights burn in empty classrooms, taps drip endlessly, and disposable packaging floods trash bins. These are not just bad habits; they’re climate crimes we commit daily.
Here are tangible steps we can take: Instead of reaching for plastic bottles, why not carry a reusable flask—it reduces waste while setting a visible example. Imagine the collective impact if every one of us developed the reflex to switch off lights and unplug devices; these micro-actions cumulatively prevent tons of CO emissions. While dietary choices seem personal, opting for even one vegetarian meal weekly creates ripple effects—consider that livestock farming generates more greenhouse gases than all global transportation combined.
Remember, sustainability is a team sport. Your individual effort multiplies when others join. Let’s prove that teens aren’t just the future—we’re the change-makers of today.
Thank you!

Cycling to a Greener Future
Aimed at raising awareness of cycling's carbon-neutral benefits and demonstrating collective impact of individual efforts, our school launched "Cycling to a Greener Future" along the Urban Greenway on the World Cycling Day (June 3), blending environmental advocacy with action.
The 18-km route wove through wetlands and urban forests, with pit stops featuring student-led talks on green mobility. Meanwhile, participants also tracked their CO savings via a real-time app, merging tech with eco-action. The climax of the event was a "zero-emission concert" powered by stationary bikes at the finishing line, proving fun and sustainability coexist.
"At first, it felt like just a ride," reflected Zhang Wei from Class 12. "But crossing the finish line, I finally grasped how small choices steer big change." Teachers also observed immediate ripple effects—from fewer car drop-offs to heated debates in Ecology Club about urban planning reforms. As one organizer put it: "Change starts when wheels meet the road—and minds."

Dear fellow students,
With World Water Day approaching (March 22), we must confront a pressing reality: nearly 2 billion people worldwide suffer from freshwater scarcity while 30% of urban water supplies disappear through leaking pipes. These staggering statistics demand more than passive concern - they require decisive action from each of us.
To combat this crisis, I propose concrete steps we can all take. First, examine your daily habits. For instance, reducing shower time by just two minutes per day could save approximately 5,000 liters annually per person. Beyond individual efforts, let's push for systemic changes by advocating for water-efficient dishwashers in our school cafeteria. Most innovatively, implementing rainwater harvesting systems for campus irrigation would demonstrate that sustainable solutions can be both practical and inspiring.
Together, these actions create ripples that extend far beyond our campus. By embracing water conservation today, we safeguard this precious resource for future generations while building a legacy of environmental stewardship. The time for action is now - before the well of opportunity runs dry.
Yours,
Li Hua

Dear Johnson,
How’s everything going I’m thrilled to share with you my wilderness survival program at a national park last weekend—an experience that pushed me and my classmates both physically and mentally.
Under the guidance of two professional instructors, our 25-member team practiced essential survival skills, from building shelters to purifying water. The most challenging yet rewarding moment came when we were divided into groups and tasked with navigating through dense forest using only a compass. For hours, we battled exhaustion and self-doubt, but witnessing the sunset from our finally-located campsite made every stumble worth it. That night, sharing hand-cooked food over a campfire, I realized how comfort-blind we urban dwellers truly are.
This experience didn’t just teach survival tactics—it revealed our hidden resilience. While I still prefer my warm bed, I now see nature as both a formidable teacher and an inspiring sanctuary. Maybe you’d like to try such an adventure when you visit China

Li Hua
Johnson,

Welcome to My Hometown
Tucked between the misty Tiantai Mountains and the East China Sea, my hometwon, Ninghai, is where ancient wisdom meets coastal vitality.
Our stone-carved villages, like Qiantong with its Ming-era courtyards, murmur tales of scholar-officials, while fishing boats in Xiashan Port bring in dazzling hauls of yellow croakers at dawn. What truly defines us is the living heritage of "Ninghai Pingdiao"—an opera style where performers’ painted faces flicker under lantern light as they sing stories older than Shakespeare’s plays. Don’t leave without trying "Maibing", a pancake stuffed with seaweed and scallions that encapsulates our maritime-meets-mountain flavors.
Now, as our high-speed rail station connects this hidden gem to Shanghai in 90 minutes, I long to see global travelers discover Ninghai’s paradox: a place where tides of modernity never wash away the footprints of e trace them with me.
