二、典型词句解析
1. What makes a day special 什么让一天变得特别？
make sth special“使……变得特别”。make sth/sb +adj.“使某物/某人变得……”。
例：- Can you make the room (clean)
- Sure.
- What made the girl 什么事让那个女孩难过？
- The sad news. 那令人难过的消息。
Don't (make) the floor dirty with your shoes. 别用你的鞋把地板弄脏了。
The wastewater plant makes dirty water __ _ (clean) again.
2. How was Peter’s weekend 彼得的周末过得怎么样？
How+be +sth 意为“某事/某物……”。
例：-How was your school 你们的学校旅行怎么样？
-It was great. 很棒。
How your day 你今天过得怎么样？
How the weather today 今天天气如何？
3. Special screens remove large pieces of waste from the water.特殊滤网将大颗粒废弃物从水中去除。
remove...from... "从…移除/去/走"
例：Please the books from the table.请把书从桌上移开。
He removed the vase the edge of the shelf. 他将花瓶从架子边缘移开。
We need to remove the old furniture the room before painting.刷漆前，我们需要把旧家具搬出房间。
4. These things are usually too small to see.. 这些东西通常太小而无法看见。
too ……to……“太……而不能……”,常可转化为“so …that…” “enough…to…”结构。
例：He is young to go to school.=He is so that he can’t go to school.
= He isn’t enough to go to school.
The man is too slow (finish) the difficult work in such a short time.这人太慢了，不能在那么短时间内完成这项困难的工作。
He felt surprised say a word. 他感到太惊讶了，一句话也说不出话来。
5. It takes a few more steps after that before the water becomes clean again. 在那之后，还需要几步，水才能再次变得干净。

数词+more+名词复数=another +数词+名词复数
例：I need five more .= I need five desks.我还需要五张桌子。
6. I used to think it was easy to get clean water.. 我曾经以为得到洁净的水是很容易。
used to do sth意为“过去常常做某事，曾经做某事” ，但现在不再做了。
注：to 为不定时符号，后接动词原形。
例：I used to (play) football after school. 过去我常常在放学后踢足球。。
. He used to (smoke), but he quit a few years ago.他以前抽烟，但几年前戒了。
I to play football every weekend. 我以前每个周末都踢足球。
拓展：
（1）be used to doing sth 习惯于做某事。to 为介词，后接名词、代词或doing。
例：I am used to (get) up early in the morning. 我习惯早上早起。
They are used to (live) in a big city. 他们习惯住在大城市里。
（2）be used to do sth 被用来做某事。
例：Wood can be used (make) paper. 木头可以用来造纸。
This knife is to cut bread. 这把刀被用来切面包。
（3）be used for sth 被用来做某事。
例：Knives are used cutting things. 刀是用来割东西的。。
7. The plant turned dirty water into clean water. 这个工厂把污水转变成为干净水。
turn …into… 意为“把…转变成为…”，
例：We turned the old house a library. 我们把旧房子变成了图书馆.
Water (turn) into ice when frozen. 水一冻就自己变冰。
The artist turned waste art. 艺术家将废料变成艺术品。
8. The work seemed easy, but it took time to get it right. 这项工作看起来简单,但做好它需要花费时间。
（1）seem +adj. 意为“看起来…”
例：You seem ，what happened to you？ 你好像挺难过，发生什么了？.
seem +名词短语
例：He (seem) a nice man. 他看来是个好人。
seem like+名词短语
例：It seems a good idea. 这主意好像不错。
seem to do sth
例：They seem (know) what they're doing. 看来，他们知道自己在干什么。
The answer seems (be) correct. 答案看起来是正确的。
（2）take 意为“花费” ；take time to do something 花费时间做某事
It takes/took sb. +一段时间+to do sth 做某事花费某人…时间
例：It takes me 20 minutes (finish) the work. 完成这项工作花费我20分钟的时间。
We take time to (prepare) the sports meeting. 我们花费时间准备运动会。
（3）get sth right意为“使…正确；把…弄好/对”
例：I need (get) the answer right. 我需要把答案弄对。
Can you help me (get) this sentence right 你能帮我把这个句子弄好吗？
9. The farmer taught us how to cut branches and leaves from tomato plants. 那位农民教我们如何给马铃薯剪枝叶。
teach sb. to do sth 教某人做某事；teach sb. how to do sth 教某人如何做某事。
例：I teach Lily (do) her homework every day. 我每天教莉莉做作业。
The guide taught us (make) a model plane. 导游教我们如何制作飞机模型。
10. It made me think of the saying,“Every grain comes from hard work.”这让我想起一句谚语：粒粒皆辛苦。
think of 想出，想到；想起，记得；认为
