1、No way!
No way!
Can I hand in my homework tomorrow?
No way!
They could think of no way to turn the situation round.
2.I don’t think sixteen -year-olds should be allowed to drive.
Eighteen-year-olds should know what they can do and what they can’t do.
Mr. Green has a 16-year-old daughter.
My son is sixteen years old.
①allow sb. to do sth. The teacher allowed him to go into the classroom.
②allow doing sth. We don’t allowed smoking in public.
③be allowed to do sth. Passengers are not allowed to smoke.
3.I’m worried about your safety.
Remember that safety must come first.
safe adj.
We all wished him a safe journey.
There was a small safe hidden behind that picture on the wall.
4.Sixteen-year-olds should be allowed to get their ears pierced.16岁的青少年应该被允许扎耳洞。(P49)
get their ears pierced意为“打耳洞”,是“get sth.+done(过去分词)”结构,表示“使某事被……;让别人做某事”,此时get 是使役动词。相当于have sth. done。
I’ll just get the dishes washed and then I’ll come. I am going to get/have my hair cut. My watch is broken. I’m going to have it repaired.
get sb.to do sth.=have sb. do sth.让某人做某事get sb./sth. doing sth.
I can’t get him to change his idea.
