Last Sunday, over 150 students from Beijing No. 10 Middle School went to plant trees near Miyun Reservoir. Miyun Reservoir is an important water source for Beijing, so protecting its surrounding environment is very important.
Before the activity, the students prepared carefully. They learned how to plant trees correctly from their biology teacher—like how deep to dig the holes and how to water the young trees. They also brought their own tools, such as shovels and buckets, from home. On the day of the activity, they worked in groups of five. Each group planted ten small trees.
After the activity, the students were tired but happy. They learned that planting trees near the reservoir can help prevent soil erosion and keep the water clean. They promised to come back every month to water the trees and check their growth. It was a meaningful experience that taught them the importance of protecting Beijing’s water resources.
