My sister and I are very different. When people meet us both, they are always surprised to learn that we are sisters. This is because we don’t look like each other, we have different personalities (性格), and our life styles are different.
Do you resemble your brother or sister My sister and I don’t resemble each other at all. I am tall, but she is very short. I have short dark brown hair and green eyes. She has long blonde hair and blue eyes. I am strong, but she is not. I have big hands and feet; her feet and hands are very small.
When we were kids, she was thin, but I was heavy. Now we’re both heavy.
We also have opposite personalities. She is always stressed out. I am calmer and more outgoing. She is very worried about what other people think and say about her, but I really don’t care. When she has a problem, she just worries about it, but when I have a problem, I try to fix (解决) it. She easily gets angry, especially with our mother. But I am more patient.

(A) Good relationships are very important in our lives. They make us feel happy. So, how to keep good relationships (关系) with your classmates. Here are some suggestions (建议).
First, communication (交流) is the key. We need to talk to others openly and honestly (诚实地). When we talk to our friends, we should listen carefully to what they say. Don’t just think about what we want to say next. For example, if your friend is telling you about a problem, give them your full attention (注意).
Second, respect is necessary. Everyone has different ideas and feelings. We should respect others’ opinions (观点) even if we don’t agree with them. If your classmate likes a different sport from you, don’t laugh at them. Instead, try to understand why they like it.
Third, the secret is to be helpful. When our friends are in trouble, we should try our best to help them. If a friend forgets their lunch, we can share ours with them. Small kind things we do can really change a relationship.
Finally, forgiveness (原谅) is important. No one is perfect. (B) 我们都会犯错误。If someone does something wrong to us, we should try to forgive them. Holding grudges (怨恨) will only make the relationship worse.

AI让中国教育大变样
Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing education in China, from primary schools to universities. In December, the Ministry of Education released a plan to make AI education common in primary and secondary schools by 2030. This plan hopes to teach students problem-solving and digital skills and to make them more creative.
AI is already being used in many classrooms. In February, 184 primary and secondary schools were chosen as AI education bases. Understanding the latest technology has become important in the nation’s education system.
In a primary school in Chongqing, fifth grade students used programming and voice recognition technology to make smart lamps, humidifiers (加湿器) and fans. At Yangzhou High School in Jiangsu, a teacher used the example of telling cherry blossoms from peach blossoms to teach students about machine learning. Changchun Experimental School in Jilin ▲ with robotics, drone operation and 3D printing. An AI club is also available (可获得的) for students interested in the technology. Jia Kaichao from the school said the club helps students turn their ideas into reality.
Students also use AI tools in class. Luo Jing from Changchun Experimental School said photo translation apps and voice dictionary pens are very useful. Students at the school often use photo translation apps or voice dictionary pens in their English classes. They can quickly answer homework questions and help with writing essays. AI is clearly making a big difference in Chinese education.
“These tools provide quick and convenient answers. For example, when facing difficult homework questions, we can simply take a picture and get the answer quickly. If we struggle with ideas for writing essays, these AI tools can help make some creative thoughts,” said Luo Jing.

When you think of a creative person, you might picture someone painting a picture or writing a poem—but you don’t need to be an artist or poet to be creative. Singing in the shower, inventing a new after-school snack, or even doodling (乱画) in your notebook are all creative acts. And joining in these activities brings many benefits: studies show they can improve your focus, help you relax, and reduce anxiety. What’s more, creativity also has positive effects on your physical health.
For your mood (情绪), creativity is like a magic pill. Painting, drawing, or just looking at artworks can lower your cortisol (皮质醇)—the stress hormone (荷尔蒙) that makes you feel anxious. So next time you’re nervous before an exam, try doodling something fun or looking at art online. It will help you calm down.
When it comes to your heart, creativity can be a great helper. It can lower your blood pressure, making it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body. This is especially good for people with heart problems, and even simple creative activities work.
Your brain is another big winner when you get creative. Creativity sharpens your focus and mental flexibility (灵活性), letting you think in different ways and come up with new ideas—useful for tricky math problems or essay brainstorming. It keeps the brain young and stops older adults’ cognitive decline (认知下降).
Last but not least, your nervous system (神经系统) benefits too. Creativity can better its pain-managing ability. If you suffer from chronic (慢性的) pain, studies show that creative activities like writing music or even singing your favorite tunes can help reduce discomfort.
Creativity is for everyone. Try it—you’ll help your body and mind. Give it a try, and you might find a new passion that makes you feel great!
16.What are creative acts
17.When you’re nervous before an exam, what can you do
18.Why is creativity good for people with heart problems
19.What would you like to do to develop your creativity And why (Please give at least two reasons and at least 30 words.)
In a heartwarming story, Mr. Sun from Fushun, Liaoning Province, made a video using AI technology to make his grandma happy. With the technology, he changed his face into his father’s in the video and said, “Mom, it’s Jihai, your son. I’m doing well in Beijing.” The video wasn’t very clear, but the grandma believed it was really her son.
In fact, Sun made the video to help himself say goodbye to his dad as well as start a new page in his life. Sun wants to be strong like his dad and take care of his family. Now, Sun is taking care of his grandma like his dad would have.

In my daily life, I find that rules are here and there. They help me live and study better. And they play an important role in keeping me healthy, too.
Let’s talk about eating first. There are rules for what and when I should eat. Eating healthy food is really important. I eat more vegetables and fruits with every meal. After all, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Hamburgers and ice-cream taste great, but I can’t have them too often. They are junk food. Also, I always have my meals on time. Eating breakfast is very important. It gives me energy in the morning. If I don’t eat breakfast, I’ll feel hungry and can’t focus on my studies.
Exercise also has its rules. I need to exercise regularly (有规律地). It’s good to exercise three or four times a week. I usually run, swim, use an exercise app or play ball games. When I run, I start slowly and then go fast. I also warm up before exercising. This helps me not to get hurt. And I never exercise too much because maybe it is bad for my body.
Following these rules about eating and exercising, I stay healthy. I have more energy and can do better in school. In short, rules help me take good care of myself. I always follow them to be healthy and happy.

“Four great inventions” in ancient China are important symbols of the country. Now China has “new four great inventions”: high-speed trains, mobile payment, bike sharing and online shopping. They are changing people’s lives in China and maybe all over the world.
High-speed trains
By the end of 2016, China had the world’s largest high-speed railway network. More than 2,500 high-speed trains are running across China each day. Lin Jinlong, an overseas student from Cambodia, shared his experience of travelling by Chinese high-speed train from Beijing to Tianjin. The two cities are over 100 km away, but the trip took only about an hour. “That was amazing!” Lin said.
Mobile payment
Mobile payment has become a part of Chinese people’s everyday life. It makes their lives much more convenient. “My wallet is no longer in use. I can buy and eat anything with my smart phone,” said Lin, “Even vegetable sellers are using mobile payment.”
Online shopping
You are out if you have never shopped online. Now you can buy almost everything from websites, and get what you’ve bought within days. China’s online shopping makes many foreigners feel both excited and surprised.
Bike sharing
Bike sharing allows users to pick a bike anywhere in the city and leave it anywhere at the end of their journey. It’s really convenient, cheap and green. Mobile, a bike sharing company, has even brought the service to some other countries.
30.When did China have the world’s largest high-speed railway network
31.Where can you buy almost everything if you shop online

People say that robots will do human jobs with the development of AI. A report shows that AI can do 25% of the work of humans. Thankfully, it is not all bad news. There are still things AI cannot do. These jobs need human’s feelings and new ideas.
Martin Ford, a writer of AI topics, says AI cannot perform as well as humans in three kinds of jobs.
First, the really creative jobs. Humans can come up with new ideas and build something new. However, AI mostly uses the knowledge it learned before.
Second, the communicating (交流的) jobs, such as nurses, business leaders and reporters. “These people need to understand others deeply. I think it’ll be a long time before AI has this kind of ability,” says Ford.
Third, the jobs that need lots of dexterity (灵活性) and problem-solving abilities. AI often works under the direction of humans. It’s hard for AI to solve problems all by itself.
In short, AI was made by humans and it can help humans live a better life. If you are worried about your future jobs, you can try to look for ones that need your high emotional quotient (EQ) (情商) and creative thinking. Those are where humans are different from AI.
34.How much human work can AI do according to the report
35.List two communicating jobs mentioned (提及) in this text.
36.What can we do if we are worried about our future jobs
37.Do you think AI is bad for humans Why
Playgrounds offer kids fresh air and exercise. However, each year, more than 200,000 kids go to hospital because they are hurt in one way or another when playing in the playgrounds. So what can we do to improve the situation
We should make sure the playground is safe for the children. It should be soft and thick enough, so when the children fall, they won’t hurt too much. Things like water, rocks or broken glass might cause danger to the kids. Cleaners should check the playground from time to time and clear away these dangerous things. In fact, children also need to help keep the playground clean and safe. That means each time after playing, they should pick up the rubbish (垃圾) they’ve produced. If someone finds there is something wrong with the facilities (设施), he or she should report to the keeper of the playground, so people will come to fix it.
Teaching kids how to play safely is also very important. If they know the rules of the playground, they won’t get hurt easily. For example, they should never push when others are on seesaws or swings. If someone is going to jump off some equipment, he or she should first look down to make sure no other kids are in the way. Of course, maybe it is also helpful to wear the right clothes. Clothes with strings (绳) can get caught on equipment which may hurt the kid badly.
In short, our kids can both enjoy themselves and be safe if we are working together to improve the situation.

Young Inventor Creates Plastic from Fish Scales
Lucy Hughes, a 24-year-old English inventor, has used fish skin and scales (鳞) to create a new kind of plastic that will break down in about six weeks. Her invention won the 2019 James Dyson Award, which was created by the famous English inventor James Dyson to encourage students to try to use their creativity to solve problems in the real world.
Lucy Hughes studied how to design products at the University of Sussex in England. As a designer, she knew a lot about how wasteful many products are. Plastic bags, for example, are often used once for a short time and then thrown away. She decided to challenge herself to make something out of waste instead.
The University of Sussex isn’t far from the coast. Ms. Hughes devoted some time to studying the fishing business and the waste from fish that were thrown away. After some tests, she found out that the fish skin and scales seemed like the most likely parts for her product. She tried more than 100 different experiments before getting things just right. Ms. Hughes called her finished product “MarinaTex”. It solves two problems: the single-use plastic and fish waste.
MarinaTex is clear and feels like plastic, but it’s stronger than normal plastic that is of the same thickness. It is also cheap to make since it’s made from fish waste. The process of making MarinaTex also doesn’t use much energy. Most importantly, MarinaTex doesn’t take hundreds of years to break down. On its own, it breaks down in four to six weeks.
For winning the contest, Ms. Hughes will earn 30,000. Her school will get 5,000. She is looking forward to moving ahead with her idea. She hopes the award money will help her with the process of getting MarinaTex into use as quickly as possible. She thinks that one of the best uses for MarinaTex will be in some kinds of food packaging.
48.What did Lucy Hughes create
49.How many experiments did Lucy Hughes try
50.How will Lucy Hughes possibly spend the award money
51.Would you like to use products made from MarinaTex Why (List at least 2 reasons)
In Brazil, there is a special fishing team. It is made up of human fishers and dolphins! They work together to catch fish.
Mauricio Cantor from Oregon State University, USA, studied this partnership. As he told Science News Explores, they started to work together more than a century ago.
“The dolphins are really good at finding fish in the water and driving them to the coast.” Cantor said. “The fishermen are really good at catching the fish with their nets (网).” Once the fish are caught in the nets, dolphins can move in and get some for themselves.
Cantor’s study described how fishermen and dolphins give signals (信号) to each other during fishing. When dolphins find fish, they drive them to the coast. Then they arch (拱起) their backs in front of the fishermen to tell them to cast (撒) nets. Fishermen will then cast the nets right away, or they may lose the best chance. “Fishermen need to be well-trained to understand the signals from dolphins.” said Cantor.
The study found that fishermen are 17 times more likely to catch fish by working with dolphins. At the same time, cooperative (合作的) dolphins have 13 percent higher survival rates (生存率) than other dolphins.
Human-animal partnerships have been unusual. But they give us an idea of how we can get along well with nature.

Students from Nizhuhe Village prepare to take a sightseeing elevator (电梯) on their way to school in Puli Township, Xuanwei City, southwest China’s Yunnan Province, Feb.23,2025. Feb.23 is the day for students of Guanzhaiwan Primary School in Puli Township to report for the new term. Children from Nizhuhe Village packed their bags and set off for school. What sets them apart from other students is their mode of transportation.
Nizhuhe Village is a small village lying in a deep valley carved by the Nizhu River meandering (蜿蜒) from south to north. In the past, the villagers’ shortest route from the valley floor to the mountaintop was a dangerous cliffside path, a journey that took nearly six hours for a round trip. Children and their parents living here had to make this hard journey at least once every ten days.
In 2022, ▲ came to this challenging journey. A local scenic area along the Nizhu River was officially completed and began operations. A 268-meter-high sightseeing elevator and a cable car (缆车) system were put into use, offering free use to the villagers of Nizhuhe and nearby areas. This provided the children with a direct way to the mountaintop.
Nowadays, thanks to the sightseeing buses, elevators and cable cars of the scenic spot, the children’s journey to school is shortened to just half an hour.

I go to check my mailbox—my real one. Then I go to the store. I get shocked as I find that I’ve forgotten my shopping card. My wife will surely get angry when I get home.
Is my plan to ________ bad for my family life Will this terrible challenge ruin (毁坏) so many happy years with a wonderful woman
A If I keep troubling her, she’ll end up leaving me. B I’ll stop having meals at home and end up homeless. Children will laugh at me, and the seller at the local shop will tell other buyers, “ C He was a travel writer. He was on TV. D And then one day he got this strange idea and it was the beginning of his bad luck.”
What if I take just a peek Come on! No one will know. It’s 2 p.m. , Thursday. Important messages are probably waiting for me in my mailbox. I should handle them.
I feel sorry. But I turn on my tablet. Hundreds of e-mails and messages pour in. I deal with three important messages, but to be honest, nothing can’t wait for a few days. Later, after school, a parent asks me how my plan is going.
“Excellent,” I answer quickly. “The first few days are difficult, but then I get into it.”
In fact, I’m sorry that I tell a lie to the parent. It’s hard not to use a cellphone, but I can’t give up so early. I have to keep my promise that I will not use my phone for seven days. It is my plan, and I must finish it.

Which do you prefer, AI’s help or your parents’
I think AI’s help is better than my parents’ for several reasons. When I make mistakes, AI won’t get angry like my parents do. Sometimes, AI is even smarter than my parents and can solve problems they can’t. For example, I once had a physics question, AI broke it down into simple steps. This helped me understand better. It also gave real-life examples, which made learning easier. When I got bad grades, my parents would criticize (批评) me, but AI wouldn’t. All in all, I will choose AI to help me with my homework, and my parents can take a break!
Cui Shenghang, 14, Guangxi
When I have trouble with my homework, I like asking my parents instead of AI. Sometimes, it is hard to explain a problem in just a few words. Many students need to describe the problem a lot so AI can understand. Also, parents may share their own stories when helping with homework. I enjoy listening to these stories. It is fun to learn more about my parents. At the same time, their stories help me think more creatively. Parents also use kind words when teaching. This makes children feel better and more confident. If parents don’t know the answers, they can use AI first and then explain it to their children.
Shao Xinyan, 13, Hubei

68.According to Cui, what is the advantage (优点) of AI’s help when he makes mistakes

Inventions are amazing! They can help solve real problems. Long ago, people got tired from walking—so the wheel (轮子) was invented! Now, cars and bikes make travel easy.
New ideas start from thinking. Isaac Newton saw an apple fall and thought, “Why does it drop ” That led to the understanding of gravity (地球引力)! The microwave oven (微波炉) was invented by accident when Percy Spencer noticed his chocolate melted (融化) near a special machine. Oh no-but delicious!
Curiosity is key! Thomas Edison failed 1,000 times before inventing the light bulb (电灯泡). But he never gave up! He wondered, “How can I make light without fire ” and kept trying. So, next time you see a problem, think carefully and stay curious, and maybe you will invent something great!

The “Yangko BOT” performance was really amazing in the Spring Festival Gala of the Year of the Snake. It mixed traditional Chinese yangko dance with modern robot technology.
In the show, 16 human-like robots, wearing traditional clothes, danced with 16 human dancers. These robots could not only turn their hands and arms easily and copy human leg-kicking actions, but also spin handkerchiefs (转手帕) skillfully.
The robots on the Spring Festival Gala stage were Unitree H1, a product of a company called Unitree Robotics. These robots used AI-controlled full-body movement technology, so they could move safely on the stage and their strong joints (关节) also helped them balance perfectly during fast steps. With 360-degree panoramic depth perception (全景深度感知) technology, they could know every movement around them clearly. What’s more, through high-level AI algorithms (算法), they could “understand” music well and change their actions according to the music in real time.
Unitree Robotics said they named this kind of robot “Fuxi”. It had the same pronunciation as the mythical ancestor of the Chinese nation, and it stood for the nice blessings that technology brought.
The “Yangko BOT” performance not only surprised people all over the world, but also showed the great possibility of AI and robotics in performing arts, letting us see the future of entertainment driven by technology.

In 12 seconds in the year 1903, two young Americans changed the world forever. That was the length of the first successful flight of Orville Wright and Wilbur Wright’s plane.
Wilbur was born in 1867 and Orville in 1871. The Wright brothers developed a strong interest in flight from early childhood. They taught themselves maths and engineering. They started their flying experiments with big kites and gliders (滑翔机) and finally decided to make their own plane. The two brothers worked very hard to make a small engine and a propeller (螺旋桨) for their plane.
Their first plane weighed 340 kilograms. Its wings were 12 metres wide. On 17th December, 1903, Orville sat in the plane and made the first successful flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. His flight lasted for only 12 seconds and only covered 37 metres, but this was the first time when human beings successfully sent something heavier than the air into the sky with powered flight. Wilbur also flew the plane on the same day. In the last flight of the day, Wilbur flew for 59 seconds and covered a distance of 260 metres.
The Wright brothers improved their plane, and by 1909, it could fly for 32 kilometres. The Wright brothers are surely among the most important inventors of the 20th century.
