3D printing is becoming more and more popular. We are now able to create things we need very quickly and easily using 3D printers. But can you imagine printing food
Some scientists are trying to revolutionize the dining experience by doing this. They hope that having a 3D printer in the kitchen will be as common as the microwave oven or blender.
Scientists say that it'll be quite easy: You simply have to select a recipe and put the raw food “inks” into the printer. You can also modify the instructions to make the food exactly how you want it. This means that it would be very quick and easy to create tasty and nutritious meals.
Using 3D printers to create your meals would also be saving the environment. There would be less need for traditional growing, transporting and packaging processes as food production would be a lot more efficient.
Printing food could also help people who suffer from dysphagia (a swallowing disorder). They could program the printer to print softer versions of their favorite foods so that they would not have trouble swallowing them.
However, some people think that a future of 3D food printing would be a disaster. It could take away many jobs, including those from growing, transporting and packaging food. Imagine a world where there is no need for farming or growing crops and the same tastes can be printed from raw “food ink”. Likewise, traditional cafes and restaurants might lose business. Also, there are concerns about the nutritional value of printed food: Is it really possible to get the nutrients we need from food based inks and gels (凝胶)
What's more, cooking and eating together with family and friends has long been a traditional and enjoyable activity. It is hard to imagine a world where the pleasure of cooking is dead and meals can be created at the touch of a button.
24.Which of the following best describes 3D food printing
A.Quick and popular.
B.Easy and efficient.
C.Nutritious and tasty.
D.Soft and convenient.
25.Why do some think that 3D food printing would be a disaster
A.Traditional food would disappear.
B.Many people could lose their jobs.
C.It would affect the people's health.
D.We could all eat the same food.
26.What can we infer from the passage
A.3D food printing will replace traditional cooking.
B.3D printing food can treat dysphagia.
C.3D food printing would hurt our tradition of food culture.
D.3D food printing would be a failure.
27.Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A.3D Food “Printing”: Coming to the Kitchen
B.Can 3D Printing Create Everything
C.3D Printing Food Will Be in Fashion!
D.The Disadvantage of 3D Food Printing

Engineers at the University of Arizona and a scientist at the American space agency NASA have developed a lightweight sailplane that can fly above Mars for several days at a time. The plane is equipped with flight, temperature and gas sensors, as well as cameras. It is designed to gather data about the Red Planet's atmosphere.
There are currently eight active spacecraft orbiting Mars and three rover vehicles also exploring the surface. But these research vehicles are limited in their ability to collect data on the area just above the Mars surface, because they depend on energy from the sun and need batteries to operate.
The researchers say the sailplane they developed is lightweight and low cost. It will be able to use a method called dynamic soaring. This method permits a plane to gain energy by repeatedly crossing boundaries between air masses of different strength levels. This kind of wind activity is known to be common on Mars.
NASA has experimented with a small helicopter on Mars, the Ingenuity. So far, tests of Ingenuity have been successful. But the experimental helicopter is only able to fly for a few minutes at a time and can only reach heights of about 12 meters. “Its technology has been very limited by energy,” says the study's lead author, Adrien Bouskela. Sailplanes, on the other hand, can fly over the Martian skies for days, allowing them to reach far beyond Ingenuity and visit new places.
The team has carried out tests of the sailplane by attaching it to a balloon floating in the sky. More tests are planned for this summer when researchers are expected to send the plane up to about 4,500 meters above sea level, where Earth's atmosphere is thinner and flight conditions are similar to those of Mars. “We can use Earth as a laboratory to study flight to Mars,” said Sergei Shakrayev, a professor at the University of Arizona.
28.Why do people create the lightweight sailplane
A.To detect the resources on Mars.
B.To explore the atmosphere on Mars.
C.To collect the data of the outer space.
D.To record changes in the solar system.
29.What is the advantage of the sailplane compared with other research vehicles
A.It is easier to operate.
B.It can be powered by wind.
C.It provides more accurate data.
D.It weighs less and moves faster.
30.According to the passage, which of the following statements is NOT mentioned
A.The development of the sailplane cost less.
B.Sailplanes can work longer than other research vehicles.
C.The Ingenuity can reach heights of more than 12 meters.
D.To collect data, some research vehicles are being used to explore the Mars.
31.What can you infer from the last paragraph
A.Researchers will do more tests in the laboratory.
B.Researchers will apply the sailplane to other fields.
C.Earth's atmosphere is thinner than that on the Mars.
D.Researchers will test the sailplane at high altitudes.
D
At first, they sounded distant, as if they were around a phone in a prison. But as we chatted, they slowly started to sound more like themselves. They told me personal stories I'd never heard. I learned about the first time my dad got drunk. Mum talked about getting in trouble for staying out late. They gave me life advice and told me things about their childhoods, as well as my own. It was amazing. For a moment I forgot I wasn't really talking to my parents at all, but to their digital copies.
This Mum and Dad live inside an app on my phone as voice assistants created by the company HereAfter AI. The company's goal is to let the living communicate with the dead. Technology like this, which lets you “talk” to people who have died, has been a mainstay of science fiction for decades. But now it's becoming a reality, thanks to advances in AI and voice technology. I wanted to test out what it might be like.
My real, flesh and blood parents are still alive and well; their virtual versions (虚拟版) were made just to help me understand the technology. But their digital copies offer a glimpse at a world where it's possible to have conversations with loved ones long after they're gone. From what I could know over a dozen conversations with my virtual parents, this really will make it easier to keep the people we loved close. It's not hard to see the attraction. People might turn to digital copies for comfort, or to mark special occasions like anniversaries.
But for some, this tech may be alarming or frightening. When I talked to friends about this article, some of them just went away. There's a common, deeply held belief that we shouldn't mess with death.
But I'm only human, and that worry ends up being washed away by the even scarier possibility of losing the people I love. If technology might help me hang onto them, is it so wrong to try
32.Why did the writer chat with his virtual parents
A.To remember his late parents.
B.To learn more about his parents.
C.To see how the technology works.
D.To find ways to improve the technology.
33.What can we learn about the technology mentioned
A.It allows users to live on an app.
B.It leads users to lose their friends.
C.It is invented by a science fiction writer.
D.It offers a link between the dead and the living.
34.What is the writer's attitude towards the technology
A.Supportive. B.Unclear.
C.Objective. D.Doubtful.
35.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text
A.You can talk to your parents
B.Parents appear on your phone
C.AI means never having to say goodbye
D.A breakthrough in AI may benefit you

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My name is Padmanabhan and I am an average kid. My father is a great scientist who is known all over the world and is interested in making new things. However, I usually get around 50 points out of 100 in my exams.
One time, my scores were 45, 54, 65, 29, and 48, as low as usual. My class topper Benjamin made fun of me like he usually did, “Here comes the son of the greatest scientist in the world. I wonder why he did not inherit (继承) his father's brain!” The whole class laughed for the joke going on for years.
Then I found myself waiting for my birthday and my father called me to choose my present.
“What do you want for the gift?” he asked.
“I just want to beat Benjamin!” I said to him.
“You have to study for that,” my father said.
After two months, my father told me his new invention was complete. “I created the microsensor (微型传感器)!” he said. He gave it to me as my birthday gift.
“What does it do?” I asked.
“What you need to do is a little thing. You put on the power glasses, insert (插入) the sensor in it and allow it a few moments to start. Then the sensor is connected to your brain. You just think, ‘OK, micro.’ Then you ask a question. It will answer it perfectly in your brain. It's good for your study when you meet problems you can't solve.”
A week later, my teacher said that whoever gets the highest grade in the exam will be given a tour to the Disneyland. Wow! All I wanted to do in my life was to visit the Disneyland.
So on the day of the exam, even though I did not study, I had confidence in the sensor. It was already connected to the glasses.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
I asked my father whether I could use it. So, with one last look on the glasses, I slowly kept it in my bag.

[精彩范文]
Dear Tom,
I completely understand how captivating short videos can be and I'm here for you. It's important to remember that while they can be entertaining, they shouldn't take over our lives.
To help you find a healthier balance, I suggest setting a daily limit for video watching, perhaps an hour or two, and using an app to monitor your screen time. Additionally, try to replace some of that time with other activities you love, like playing a musical instrument, going for walks, or even starting a new hobby. It's all about moderation and finding what makes you happy outside of the screen.
You're capable of managing this, and I believe in you.
Yours,
Li Hua
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
I asked my father whether I could use it. So, with one last look on the glasses, I slowly kept it in my bag.

I asked my father whether I could use it. “No! I will never allow you to do that! You have to use your brain! First, to be a great man, you need to be honest!” my father yelled. But I have to win. So, I stole the glasses and ran off. On the exam day, I started to write the paper. I could easily win. But suddenly, my father's words rang in my ears. I couldn't do this. I should not be greedy.
So, with one last look on the glasses, I slowly kept it in my bag. The exam results came the same day. I got 46.5. As usual, Benjamin was the topper. He got the chance to visit the Disneyland. Then I met my father in his room. “I could not beat him. I am sorry. I should not have done it,” I said. “Even though you took it, you did not use it. You are a really good boy. You are honest. For that, I am taking you to the Disneyland,” my father said. And that was the happiest day of my life.

Dear Tom,
I completely understand how captivating short videos can be and I'm here for you.
Yours,
Li Hua
You just think, ‘OK, micro.' Then you ask a question.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
I asked my father whether I could use it. ﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍
So, with one last look on the glasses, I slowly kept it in my bag. ﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍
