①He said he would go to the north for the holiday.
②She promised that she would call me the next day.
When I was young, I'd listen to the radio, waiting for my favourite songs.
(1)基本表达方式:would+do
He hoped that they would meet again some day.
1)was/were going to do,表示准备、计划做。
She said she was going to buy a new bike.
2)was/were about to do,表示即将发生的动作,一般不与表示将来的时间状语连用。
The bus was about to start.
3)was/were to do,表示过去曾计划或安排要做。
The press conference was to be held the next week.
4)was/were doing仅限于某些表示位移的动词,如:come, go, arrive, leave等来表示按计划或安排将要发生的事。
I didn't know when they were coming again.
They told me school began on September 1st.
was/were going to do结构、was/were about to do结构和was/were to do结构三者的区别: was/were going to do 侧重说话人的意图或打算或根据现有的迹象或情况判断将要发生的动作;was/were about to do 表示说话的瞬间就会发生的动作,一般不与表示将来的时间状语连用;was/were to do 侧重受别人指示或安排要做的事。 He promised me he was going to write the article well. I felt something terrible was about to happen. Mr Smith said he was to take up the position.

A:Hey, Bob, have you heard about the new nature park that opened up on the outskirts of our city
B:Oh, yeah, I've been hearing a lot about it. It's supposed to have some amazing hiking trails and scenic viewpoints.
A:Exactly! I was thinking we could explore it this weekend. Would you be interested
B:Definitely! I've been looking for a new place to hike. Do you know if they have any guided tours
A:I checked their website, and they do offer guided tours on Saturdays. They say it's the best way to learn about the local flora and fauna.
B:Sounds perfect. Let's sign up for that. Do we need to bring anything special
A:Just some comfortable walking shoes, a water bottle, and maybe a camera to capture the views. Oh, and don't forget to wear sunscreen!
B:Great, I'll make sure to pack everything. What time does the tour start
A:It starts at 9 am, so we should plan to leave by 8 to get there early.
B:Sounds like a plan. I'm really excited to explore this new place. Thanks for suggesting it, Alice!
A:No problem, Bob. I'm sure it'll be a fun adventure!
1.What do they need to bring for the guided tour
A.Comfortable clothes.
B.Walking shoes, a water bottle, and a camera.
C.A picnic basket.
2.What time does the guided tour start
A.8 am. B.9 am.
C.10 am.
根据“Just some comfortable walking shoes, a water bottle, and maybe a camera to capture the views.” B。“It starts at 9 am, so we should plan to leave by 8 to get there early.”
A:Hey, Bob, are you ready for our adventure today
B:Yes, I've been packing my bag since morning. I'm really excited to explore this new place.
A:Great! I heard it's a hidden gem, not many people have been there.
B:That sounds even more exciting. What should we expect to see
A:Well, according to the map, there's a beautiful lake surrounded by dense forests. And maybe some wildlife too.
B:Wow, that sounds amazing.

Keeping Hope Alive in the Storm
One day, my parents took my younger brother, Kaleb and me to visit my aunt's family, who lived on a beautiful lake. We planned to have a family dinner together.
While parents made dinner, my cousin Jerel showed us around. Seeing the yellow rubber boat near the bank, I excitedly urged for a boat ride. Jerel agreed. He grew up on this lake. Though he was 16, it didn't seem to bother him that I was 12 and Kaleb was 7.
We couldn't wait to jump into the rubber boat, took up the paddles (桨) and set out. Our destination was the small rocky island in the middle of the lake. We laughed and chatted as we paddled along. The sky was blue with piles of white clouds. It was a bit cold, but our life jackets kept us warm.
After half an hour, we reached the island. We jumped off and tied the boat to a huge rock. We started to explore the desert island. We were having so much fun that we didn't notice the weather had changed. Dark clouds gathered and the wind picked up. Then thunder rolled across the sky. Jerel looked worried and nudged me, “A storm is on the way. We need to rush back!”
Jerel led us back to the shore. The calm water had turned into a mess. The boat bounced up and down in the waves. Jerel yelled, “Jump into the boat! Hurry!” We held onto the side of the boat and managed to climb into it. Surprisingly, we found our boat stuck firmly in the rocks. What's worse, there was a big hole at the bottom. Maybe it was torn open by the sharp rock.
Suddenly, the rain poured down upon us, beating against our faces and pounding our life jackets. Kaleb was terrified and started crying. We decided to seek shelter from the rain. Before we headed back, Jerel shouted, “Wait! Let's get the boat out onto the shore! It will help us build a shelter.”
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
“No problem. Let's get started!” I said. Now under the shelter we could do nothing but wait.
“No problem. Let's get started!” I said. With Jerel pushing hard at the end and I dragging with full strength at the front, we managed to get the boat out of the rocks and settled it onto the shore. We turned the boat over, leaving one end onto a huge rock and the other fixed onto the ground. Seeing the rain still pouring through the hole, Jerel took off his life jacket and covered it. Then we hurriedly crawled under the boat, feeling safe and relieved.
Now under the shelter we could do nothing but wait. It was getting darker. Hungry and frightened, Kaleb started crying again. Seeing the endless rain, I felt upset too. Jerel hugged us tightly and said, “Keep hope alive. We will make it.” His voice was calm but his words really did the trick. Kaleb stopped crying. Jerel told stories to cheer us up. Then time didn't seem hard to pass. We waited patiently until our parents came to our rescue. This unforgettable experience throws a new light on the significance of hope—overcoming fear and bringing power.
In 2004, Pen Hadow became the first person to trek to the North Pole alone, without being resupplied on the way. That meant swimming through cold waters, and risking meeting polar bears. Just eight months later, he made a similar trip to the South Pole. Now he is back in the Arctic again, preparing for a more ambitious expedition. This time, however, more significance is attached. Pen and two colleagues will set out on a three month, 1,000 kilometers trek to the North Pole, taking detailed measurements of the thickness and density of the ice. Nobody has ever done this before, and he knows the results will be of great significance to the scientific community. This will be the truest picture so far of what global warming is doing to the ice that covers the polar region.
Pen and his wife, Mary, live in the country with their two children. “It's much harder to be away from them this time,” he admits. “They were one and five when I last went, and I made a mistake in the way I said goodbye. I thought it would be a good idea to say to my son, ‘You're the man of the house now, look after your mum and your sister.’” He__absolutely__took__it_
_to__heart,__asking his mum how she was all the time, but the stress eventually became too much. While it was well intentioned, it was an unfair thing to do.
He is spending these last days before departure preparing his things. With him will be Ann Daniels, one of the world's leading polar explorers, and the photographer, Martin Hartley. They will be supported by a crew of six, flying in supplies. Being part of a team is actually more stressful to someone like him. Besides, something else is on his mind too. “I'm going to be 47 on Thursday. I've done far less training.” Why “Organizational things always seem more urgent. So I'm almost fearful of what I'm going to ask of myself.”
Pen believes his mission reconnects exploration with the search for knowledge that drove previous generations into the unknown. “Making it to the North Pole was a personal ambition and of limited value to anyone beyond the polar adventuring community. This time, scientists will profit from the data, and we're creating a platform to expose as many people as possible to what's happening in the Arctic Ocean. This is important work, and nobody can do it but us,” he says. “Our skills, which are otherwise not that necessary, have become really relevant. Suddenly, we're socially useful again.”

①He said he would go to the north for the holiday.
②She promised that she would call me the next day.

(1)基本表达方式:would+do

1)was/were going to do,表示准备、计划做。

2)was/were about to do,表示即将发生的动作,一般不与表示将来的时间状语连用。
The bus was about to start.
3)was/were to do,表示过去曾计划或安排要做。
The press conference was to be held the next week.
4)was/were doing仅限于某些表示位移的动词,如:come, go, arrive, leave等来表示按计划或安排将要发生的事。

They told me school began on September 1st.
was/were going to do结构、was/were about to do结构和was/were to do结构三者的区别:

——Listening and Speaking——

I thought it would be a good idea to say to my son, ‘You're the man of the house now, look after your mum and your sister.’” He absolutely took it to heart, asking his mum how she was all the time, but the stress eventually became too much.
