Anger isn’t a good feeling. Anger may make us feel uncomfortable, but it’s also normal. Unluckily, many of us have been used to keeping our feelings hidden. Research suggests that this can have long-term bad influence on our health.
Is it better to cry or break things whenever something makes us angry The research points out that when we show our anger in this way, we probably can’t get on well with our friends and our family. The more time we keep being angry, the worse result we’ll get. So how can we deal with our angry feelings in a right way
First, know what makes us angry. Anger is often caused by feelings of fear, disappointment and so on. Second, pay more attention to those everyday things that will make us angry.
One way of dealing with anger is to talk about it. The study has shown that if we name our feelings, we can actually calm ourselves down and feel better.

Romeo’s owners were sleeping on the second floor of their house when the earthquake happened. They managed to get out. But Romeo, who was sleeping on the first floor, was trapped inside. They tried their best to search for Romeo, but failed. After a few hours, they had to leave the village for their own safety.

Emily and Alex were happy when their family moved to a house with a very big garden. They could climb up trees, grow flowers, and even play badminton. They liked to watch the birds flying among the trees in the garden. They even started to put food out to attract more birds.
Everything was fine for a few days until one afternoon there was a strange bumping noise on a window. Emily went outside and found a small bird dead on the grass. Its neck seemed to be broken.
“It must have flown into the window,” Alex said when his sister Emily called him to have a look. “Look here. You can see the mark where it hit the window. There are a couple of tiny feathers stuck on the window.”
“Poor thing!” Emily said.
During the next month, five more birds died in the same way. “Why would they fly to the windows ” they wondered. Finally they found out the truth. When the birds were flying, they couldn’t see into the rooms. All they saw was the reflection (反射) of the garden. At first, the family tried keeping curtains (窗帘) across the windows, but this made the room dark. Then they bought some strong black paper and cut out the shape of a hawk. Manners also mean different things in different countries. Eating food loudly is considered rude in some countries, but in others it’s a sign that people are enjoying their meal. What do you think Are manners important
Many old people think so. They say kind words and actions are good to everyone. When someone has good manners, it shows they care about other people’s feelings and want them to be comfortable. In other words, well-mannered people make the world a happier place. Manners also help keep everyone healthy, which is why people should cover their mouths when they cough and keep dirty feet off seats.
▲ They hold the idea that manners make people act in a way that doesn’t mean how they really feel. If someone says “thank you” or “sorry” when they don’t mean it, they’re not being polite. When you want to ask your teacher a question during class, what do you do Do you simply shout out your question as soon as it enters your mind Or do you raise your hand and wait until the teacher calls your name
If you politely raise your hand first, it’s probably because your teacher has a rule that regulates (规定) what you are allowed to do when you have a question. Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone could simply talk whenever they want during class Instead of a peaceful learning environment, a classroom without rules would be chaotic!
When you learn to drive, you’ll realize how many rules you have to follow. The rules for driving share a common purpose (目的) with many rules you must follow in your daily life to keep you safe. As an ancient Chinese saying goes, “ ▲ ” If you make a list of the rules you follow each day, you will quickly realize how many of them can keep you safe and make your life more enjoyable as a result.

Chinese New Year painting, or nianhua in Chinese, is a kind of traditional painting to be put up on walls and windows during the Spring Festival. Its bright colors and different subjects show the Chinese great expectation for happiness and wealth.

The Chihuahuan Desert in West Texas is larger than any other desert in North America. The winters there are cool and summers are very hot. This area is also home to a mysterious phenomenon (现象) called the Marfa Lights.
The Marfa Lights are bright lights that appear in the night sky all of a sudden and then fly to faraway places and disappear. They are about the size of basketballs and are often described as white, blue, yellow, red, or other colors. The lights sometimes even get close to people’s houses. One woman who lived on a farm told the story of what she experienced one night. She was in bed and suddenly she saw the lights shining through her bedroom window. She watched them change color for a few minutes. Finally, they went away. Pilots who used to train in the desert in the 1940s also reported that they once saw these mysterious lights.
What causes this phenomenon People have different opinions on this. A popular interpretation is the lights might have something to do with headlights from cars on the road nearby. Scientific research also suggests that some of the lights are caused by the refraction (折射) of light between layers (层) of air that have different temperatures. However, not all of them can be explained so easily.
Anyway, people will continue to study the lights to find out where they come from. No matter what these lights really are, they are as mysterious today as when they first appeared. But it is certain that the mystery behind them will be solved one day.

Have you met someone who kept talking and talking, and you couldn’t get them to stop You don’t want to be impolite by telling them to shut up, but you really want to get out of the conversation. Here are some ways to help you.

Interrupt them as soon as you can. Saying things like “I’d like to add something” or “If I could interrupt you for just a minute” will often let others know that they are talking too much.
Lead the conversation. This is especially helpful when dealing with someone you often talk to. Let them know that you heard what they said and guide the conversation in a different direction.
Mention that you don’t have a lot of time to talk. Expressions like “I would love to chat (聊天) but I have to go for a movie right now” and “Today’s not a great day to talk. I have a lot of tasks” will make you easily end the conversation.
