Ⅲ. 学情分析
Language and Knowledge Foundation 高二学生已具备一定的英语听说读写基础 ,在高一下学期必修三 Unit 2 Morals and Virtues 单元的学习中,熟知话题“道德与美德 ”和其典型代表人物—林巧稚和白求恩,并积累了一定关于人物品质方面的词汇,在本课时对主要人物屠呦呦品质的挖掘方面,可以对已学知识进行内化和输出;对于语篇学习,而且是熟悉的人物,学生更加容易接受,更感兴趣,不过由于词汇的限制,比如 artemisinin, malaria, wormwood, extract, committed 等等,学生未能深入了解屠呦呦及其团队发现青蒿素的整个过程,容易看不懂内容;对于“卓有成就人物 ”的认知也只处在初级阶段,不能形成全面的认知,仍需要进一步感受认知冲突,形成正确价值观;对于中国传统医学也有一定的积累,不过相关的英语词汇还有所欠缺,需要加强学习。 Ability Foundation 高二学生通过之前的英语学习,已经具备一定的寻读的技巧快速找到阅读文本中的相关细节信息,具备一定的结合上下文语境理解词义的能力。但对理解语篇特点以及组织结构方面的能力较为欠缺,并且在客观分析人物性格特征、梳理事件的过程的能力方面较弱。
Ⅳ. 教学理念及理论指导
《普通高中英语课程标准(2017 年版 2020 年修订)》(教育部,2020;以下简称《课标》) 提出英语教育应以德育为魂、能力为重、基础为先、创新为上,英语课程应该以学生为中心,以学习活动为载体,通过发展学生学科核心素养,培养具有中国情怀、国际视野和跨文化沟通能力的社会主义建设者和接班人,培养新时代人类命运共同体的建设者和推动者。 本课教学设计以《课标》为指引,以单元大观念为背景,以“英语学习活动观 ”为指导,践行教、学、评一体化,并采用发现式教学与情景式体验教学,以及深度阅读和语篇分析的阅读策略。
Ⅴ. 教学目标
At the end of the lesson, Ss are expected to: 1. get to know the structure and characteristics of a news report; (Language ability) 2. get detailed information about the process of finding artemisinin and improve the abilities of analyzing and gathering information;(Learning ability) 3. analyze the external reasons and the internal reasons of Tu Youyou’s achievement and have a general idea of a person of value, and reflect on life value and think about career planning;(Thinking ability) 4. raise pride in China’s growing increasingly powerful and our super-excellent traditional Chinese medicine.(Cultural awareness)

Ⅵ. 教学重难点
Key Point To obtain key information and infer the hidden message by analyzing the passage in depth from different angles. Difficult Point To analyze the external reasons and the internal reasons of Tu Youyou’s achievement (to read between the lines) and to summarize the internal reasons (about Tu Youyou’s personalities) (to read beyond the lines).

Applying and practicing(Show the quote of Albert Einstein) Activities. T shows Ss the quote of Albert Einstein: Try to become not a man of success, but try rather to become a man of value.
