What: The text is an expository writing, introducing the developments of advertisements. In this lesson, the fundamental purpose of advertising industry is explained at the very beginning and then comes a process of change the advertisements have gone through over the years along with social, economic and technological developments, including classic ads, modern ads, improved modern ads, further improved modern ads and public ads. In the process, the characteristics of a certain type of advertisement are firstly elaborated, and then the shortcomings of it are pointed out and therefore another type of advertisement is born. Driven by the development of society, technology and people’s visual standard, the advertisers are constantly pushing advertising forward to adapt to the world, which is just like playing a game. How: This text is organized clearly in two parts with the first paragraph as Part 1 introducing the purpose and main idea of the passage, and the rest paragraphs as Part 2 explaining one type of advertisement in each paragraph. It uses the techniques of making comparison and contrast, giving examples, analyzing cause and effect, etc. Based on the structure, the title and the language features, students can identify the text type, which will help them to analyze the text better. Why: The text aims to build students’ knowledge of advertising which is also a kind of media. By understanding the development of advertisements, students will be aware of the functions of advertising. Besides, they will set up a proper attitude towards advertising in their daily life. Hopefully, by the end of this period, students will be able to introduce one of their favorite advertisements to others based on what they have learnt.
学情分析
教学对象为高中二年级物化地学生,该班学生课堂表现较为积极,对英语学习有一定的兴趣,并对新鲜事物充满好奇心,同时也拥有了一定的实际生活经验和背景知识。但学生们英语基础较弱,词汇量和语法知识有所欠缺。虽了解一些常见的阅读策略,但在运用方面不够熟练。
教学目标

教学反思
通过本节课的学习,学生练习了阅读策略如快读、细读,获得了关于广告业的发展、特征、以及缺点,在输出阶段,学生基于阅读阶段获得的信息并运用之前的知识介绍了自己喜欢的广告类型,是一个很好的输出训练。但是因为文章较长,长难句较多,学生在寻找段落主旨句时有些许困难;并且学生在输出表达阶段有所拘谨,或因其不准确的发音所致,平时课堂应多注意学生的发音,多帮助学生纠音,多给学生锻炼的机会,鼓励学生积极用英语表达自己。
