Oh, no! How silly I was to practice basketball inside! Mom's favorite __1__ was in a thousand pieces. What could I do
At that time, my dog Toby came in and jumped around me happily. This gave me a(n)__2__. “Mom, Toby broke your cup,” I told a lie when Mom walked in.
“Toby, you bad boy,” she said __3__. “Go outside. No treats for you.” Hearing this, I felt a little sick.
Toby went outside to his doghouse, looking sad. Since I couldn't play inside, I had to __4__ more basketball skills in the living room. Suddenly it began to rain heavily. Through the window, I could see the rain fall down Toby's nose. “Is he __5__?” I wondered.
That sick feeling grew. “What have I done?” I asked myself. “How could I make Toby in trouble because of my __6__?” I knew what to do next.
“Sorry, Mom! I have something to tell you,” I quietly __7__ with my head down. “To win the final match this Saturday, I played basketball inside and broke your cup.” “So it was __8__ to punish Toby,” Mom touched my head.
“Thank you for being __9__, my boy. But as a punishment, you can't watch the basketball matches on TV this month.”
I wanted to say it was not fair, but it was. I made a mistake. I had to __10__ the punishment. I opened the door and Toby ran back in. He jumped up and gave me a big lick(舔). Then I felt fine.

故选A。
其他选项“pass on(传递)”和“show off(炫耀)”都不符合语境。故选C。
这与前文“I told a lie”直接对应。故选A。
故选A。
故选A。
“change(改变)”或“forget(忘记)”都不符合故事传达的“承担责任”的主题。故选C。

He led me to my desk and told me to __6__ one book. “Read just twenty pages. If you still feel bored after that, just put it down and choose another one,” he said.
I started with The Emperor's New Clothes. After I read twenty __7__ as my uncle suggested, I was rolling(打滚) on the floor laughing. What a stupid emperor! Next, I read more books. As time went on, I was able to __8__ understand the stories. So I started reading longer and more serious books. I fell in love with Journey to the West. My mom said I should spend more time playing outside.
But I didn't want to __9__ the book.
