Back in my teaching days, while I was preparing to move from one preschool to another, the director of the school I was leaving asked me what I noticed when I went to visit my new program. The answer came to me right away. “The kids were all barefoot,” I said.
The teachers around me looked confused, particularly those who worked with me in the nursing room. After all, we spent a significant amount of each day forcing these kids to keep their shoes on, a rule designed to prevent injury.
When I got to my new school, I realized I had a lot of learning to do. Many of the rules that I had long enforced at other schools became more flexible. Want to run inside and climb on furniture No problem — we have a climbing room full of carpeted tunnels, slides, and ladders, so you can do just that. Want to summit a slide like a mountain Let me spot you from the side. Getting bored with the same old playground toys Let’s head to the woods nearby to enjoy an endless supply of rocks, sticks, and leaves.
To my surprise, injuries didn’t seem to be more frequent. Over time, I came to appreciate this program’s philosophy and learned to trust that kids could be safe while exploring freely. The Norwegians see this philosophy as a long-term investment in community.
I started to think differently about my own role. My job wasn’t only to protect my students from harm; it was also to help them deal with challenging situations. It might seem that many aspects of Norway’s approach to early childhood learning would be difficult to carry out in the United States, given some of the current problems around education. But if we keep an open mind, Norway might just hold lessons for us all.
24.Why did the teachers feel confused at what the author said
A.They knew little about new programs. B.They heard of the sharp differences.
C.They were free to make decisions. D.They were forced to make rules.
25.What did the “Question & Answer” sentences in Paragraph 3 indicate
A.Teachers worked under pressure. B.New rules were set in the program.
C.The school didn’t have strict rules. D.Students’ needs were well satisfied.
26.What did the author think of this program’s philosophy
A.She was supportive of it. B.She was hesitant about it.
C.She was curious about it. D.She was worried about it.
27.What’s the text mainly about
A.Importance of accepting diversities.
B.Philosophy to teach kids to be flexible.
C.Education to offer limitless opportunities.
D.Comparison of different educational systems.

Over six decades, Tanzanian acrobatics (杂技) has developed into a remarkable art form through sustained cultural exchange with China. This practice has become a vital cultural bridge, representing how international cooperation promotes lasting friendship and shared understanding between nations.
The story began in the 1960s, when a Chinese acrobatic group’s performance in Tanzania deeply impressed the local art community and audiences-a key moment that inspired a landmark training program. In 1965, twenty Tanzanian students, including Hamis Adam Nyota, traveled to Wuhan, China, for professional acrobatic training. Though they initially faced challenges adapting to the new environment, the group trained diligently. After four years of devoted practice, they mastered complex skills and returned home in 1969 to establish Africa’s first national acrobatic group. Their perseverance laid the foundation for an lasting artistic tradition that would shape generations.
Through subsequent decades, acrobatics took root in Tanzanian society. Saidi Ramadhani Yusuph, a second-generation acrobat, has made vital contributions to carrying forward this acrobatic heritage. Since starting his teaching career, Yusuph has trained a large number of students, focusing not only on building physical strength and flexibility but also on developing mental discipline and teamwork. What was once seen as mere entertainment has now transformed into a respected profession: it offers health benefits, and performers can earn a stable income through shows at hotels, weddings, and international events.
Now, it is easy to see that the art is getting more and more recognition around the world. One example of this success is the Ramadhani Brothers, who gained praise on the U.S. television show America’s Got Talent. These achievements bring pride to Tanzania while motivating younger artists to pursue excellence.
From Wuhan to Tanzania, this meaningful cultural exchange continues to inspire new generations. Nine-year-old Aisha Juma, a young trainee, talks about what acrobatics means to her: “Through my daily hula hoop (呼啦圈) drills and acrobatic practice, I not only get stronger and sharper in mind, but also keep this tradition going.”

A.A skilled performer of acrobatics. B.A guardian of acrobatic heritage.

30.What can we infer about the impact of acrobatics in Tanzania
A.It has made the local people wealthy.
B.It mainly benefits international performers.

D.It has become a source of opportunity and pride.
31.Why does the author mention nine-year-old Aisha Juma

Many of us believe that our pets make us healthier and happier. While there is some truth to this, the scientific evidence is more complex than it seems.
Research in the field of human-animal interaction has produced mixed results. For example, some studies show that pet owners are less likely to be depressed, while others show the opposite. Experts suggest this inconsistency may occur because people who already feel lonely or depressed might get a pet for comfort, thus affecting the data.
One clearer benefit of dog ownership is increased physical activity, thanks to daily walks. A famous 1998 study found that pet owners who had suffered heart attacks were more likely to survive the following year. A 2019 analysis even showed a dramatic 24% lower risk of death for dog owners. However, when researchers adjusted for other factors, such as the owners’ pre-existing health and activity levels, this benefit nearly disappeared. “You’re more likely to have a dog if you’re already active.” explains developmental psychologist Megan Mueller, highlighting that correlation does not equal causation.
Consequently, scientists are now looking beyond simple ownership. They are focusing on the quality of the relationship between humans and their pets. “Pets are not a medical intervention; they’re a relationship,” says gerontologist Jessica Bibbo. The level of attachment and emotional support seems to be the true key to health benefits.
Controlled experiments support this. A 2025 study found that dog owners had lower stress hormone levels when their pets were present during stressful tasks. In another study, a group of older adults who were given crickets to care for showed improved mental health compared to a control group. This suggests that the act of caring itself, not just the type of animal, can be powerful. The secret to a healthier life, it seems, lies not merely in owning a pet, but in building a strong, supportive bond with it.
32.What does the research in paragraph 2 mainly show us
A.Health benefits of pet ownership. B.Various causes for human loneliness.
C.Strong objection to the previous belief. D.Inconsistent results of human-pet studies.
33.How does the writer illustrate pet ownership increases physical activities
A.By listing examples. B.By presenting findings.
C.By clarifying concepts. D.By giving definitions.
34.What can be inferred from Jessica Bibbo’s statement
A.The value of pets lies in emotional connection.
B.Medical interventions are less effective than pets.
C.Scientists have overestimated the benefits of pets.
D.Pets should not be used in any medical treatment.
35.What’s the main idea of this passage
A.Human beings need animal companionship.
B.Pets serve as the best cure for mental issues.
C.Pet ownership alone guarantees a healthy life.
D.Human-pet bond contributes to owners’ well-being.

Increase your productivity. This is 56 AI tools attract its users. However, despite hopes that the technology will improve the 57 (efficient) of work, not everyone is on board.
According to BBC, 59 percent of men aged 18 to 65 around the world use generative AI at least once a week, compared 58 51 percent of women. The gender gap is even 59 (wide) among younger people; 71 percent of men and 59 percent of women aged 18 to 24 use generative AI weekly. Why are women less open to AI than men
According to AI expert Jodie Cook, this gap reflects the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). “For ages, STEM fields 60 (lead) by males. The current pattern in the use of AI tools appears 61 (mirror) this difference,” Cook told the BBC.
Certain patterns in female thinking might also play 62 role. In a survey of 486 students, 63 (divide) by academic performance, researchers found that high-performing female students were more likely to use ChatGPT only when it had been allowed by their professor. “It’s the idea that I have to do it on my own without 64 (take) shortcuts,” Cook explained.
For some experts, women’s reluctance (不情愿) to use AI is troubling, as it could lead to technology being designed more for men. Others, however, are less alarmed, pointing out that AI may right now act more as a “digital toy”, and women may 65 (simple) be better at avoiding distractions.

Last month, my friend Ollie and I discovered a poster in the park announcing a recycled-sculpture contest called “Trash to Treasure Day”. The grand prize was a gift certificate to a skate shop — an exciting prospect for both of us, since we were in need of new skateboards. The poster stated that all materials would be provided on-site, so we decided to team up.
We brainstormed ideas beforehand. Ollie suggested a robot, while I thought of a tree, but we couldn’t decide right away. That night, I lay awake trying to think of the perfect sculpture idea. When I finally dozed off, I had a wild dream. Ollie and I were working on a sculpture of a fire-breathing dragon. It was so fantastic, we ended up winning first place. But just as the judge was handing us the prize, our dragon came to life and swallowed us up!
After breakfast, when I told Ollie about the dream, he was crazy about the idea of a dragon. Though I felt a bit uneasy about the part where it gobbled us up, I agreed and spent the rest of the day researching.
On contest day, I brought a perfect dragon picture as our guide. The area was filled with recycled materials — cardboard, containers, lids, used toys, and trinkets (小配件) — while each workstation supplied tape, scissors, glue, and markers. A woman in a hat welcomed everyone, encouraging us to work alone or together, with judging and cake at three o’clock.
Ollie and I found a spot but got off to a very slow start. We disagreed on which boxes to use, struggled to attach parts, and couldn’t make our sculpture look anything like my picture. After a very long time of piecing and patching, our sculpture started to look the tiniest bit like a dragon. To make our dragon more lifelike, we racked our brains. Ollie noted that buttoned lids made good eyes, but we still needed a mouth. Then I remembered a big red zipper on a round table — it was just right! I hurried back to grab it. Paragraph 1:
But just as I reached for the zipper, another hand appeared and picked it up.

Paragraph 2:
I was pretty sure Ollie wouldn’t mind a new partner, and luckily I was right.

Dear Chris,
Knowing that you are interested in our school’s “Upcycling” exhibition, I’m delighted to
share my creation—a fashion backpack made from my old jeans.
The process was simple but enjoyable. I cut off the legs, kept the upper section with its
pockets as the main body, sewed the bottom shut, and added two shoulder straps for both style and
practicality.
This rewarding waste-to-treasure experience has made me realize how individual efforts
help with sustainable living. I wonder if you might feel inspired to give upcycling a try It would
be fun!
Yours,
Li Hua

But just as I reached for the zipper, another hand appeared and picked it up. I looked
up and saw a girl in a pink T-shirt clutching the zipper to her chest. “Sorry, I need it for my
monster,” she apologized, eyes wide with worry. “But our dragon still has no mouth.” I murmured
under my breath. Just as I was about to turn away, I felt a pat on my shoulder. “How about we
build together ” beamed the girl, pointing at her workstation. I glanced at her monster. It was
awesome! “Sure! We can make a double-great monster dragon.” I grinned, “but I’m already
working with my friend. Shall we go and ask him ” She nodded and we carried the zipper back to
our table like a trophy.
I was pretty sure Ollie wouldn’t mind a new partner, and luckily I was right. When I
introduced the girl and explained the plan, Ollie’s face lit up. “Amonster-dragon is great!” he
laughed. The girl’s arrival flipped a switch — suddenly the work flowed, quick and light. We
worked perfectly: I zipped the dragon’s red mouth. The girl cut the dragon scales skillfully. Ollie
painted them shining green. Then we three stuck the scales on together. At three o’clock our
double sculpture stood roaring and snapped in the center of the hall. The judge pinned the blue
ribbon on our table with a thumbs-up, “Teamwork makes the dream work.” We high-fived, tasting
sweet victory — and extra cake.
