第四部分 写作(共两节,满分 40分)
第一节 (满分15分)
The Gift of Growth
As I looked back, my high school years showered me with countless gifts, among which the most profound one was failure.
It arrived during an English speech contest when my mind went blank on stage. I stumbled through my speech with embarrassment. That moment, however, became a turning point. Not only did the failure make me review my preparation honestly, but it also taught me a profound lesson that true strength lay in how to handle setbacks. It was the first time that I had come to realize growth meant learning how to stand up again, stronger than before.
This invaluable gift has shaped me into a more resilient person. It impresses me that growth is an internal process of self-renewal—a lesson that will continue to guide my path ahead.
第二节 (满分 25 分)
Thinking over Jonathan’s words, Stacey consulted her dad again. Patient and concerned, he asked Stacey if she had made her choice. Shaking her head helplessly, she told the story of Jonathan, inquiring what the perfect solution would be. He wrote SOCCER and NEWSPAPER on the paper, thought for a while, and then added a plus sign between them. The words were like a ray of sunlight driving away the fog in front of Stacey. “I can be a sports journalist!” Stacey shouted, her previously knotted brows replaced by a joyful smile.
As a sports journalist, Stacey came to report the soccer team’s first training after tryouts. Notebook in hand, she felt a thrilling sense of purpose. Mandy, spotting her, waved enthusiastically from the field. Responding with a bright smile, Stacey started her mission—interviewing the coach about his strategy for the season. She even sought out Jonathan, whose insightful advice had changed everything, and extended her sincere gratitude. He beamed with pride, happy to see her new identity. At that moment, Stacey realized she had turned a difficult choice into a new beginning by thinking creatively.

No two cities are alike. Every city is arranged differently. Geography, climate and culture are just a few of the factors that influence how a city is laid out. People who design cities are called city planners. Their job is to make sure everything fits together and meets the needs of the people who live there. Katherine Perez has been a city planner in Los Angeles for 30 years. City planners can work for private companies—as Perez does, or for local or state governments. Perez loves cities because each of them is unique. “There are different issues and conditions that affect each of these communities,” she said. “And I find city planning interesting because of those issues and conditions.” Perez has seen her field change a lot. For example, some of her projects in Southern California involve generating electricity while reducing the amount of harmful greenhouse gases. But Perez thinks one thing should remain unchanged: working with all city residents to make sure their ideas about how the city is designed are heard. That’s why she believes city planners must be good listeners who can “help people see how they make a big idea real”.
