B(2025眉山中考)
Have you seen circles, squares and triangles (三角形) everywhere in your daily life Have you thought about their meanings in films Much like colors, different shapes can show different features (特征) of characters in the scenes.
Circles represent (象征) things that are soft and natural. The round shape reminds us of things that appear in nature, like the sun, flowers, raindrops and so on. We can also connect circles with beautiful eyes, babies' round faces... All these things make us feel happy and warm. This is why so many cartoon characters' bodies—heroes, kids, good people—are round in shape, because circles represent goodness, happiness and friendliness.
Squares show things that are unnatural or man-made, or things that are boring or old-fashioned. In Up, Carl, an elderly man, has a square face and wears square glasses, while Russell, an 8-year-old boy with a round face, always wears round medals. These shapes show the characters' personalities. Carl is stubborn (执拗的) and lonely, while Russell is lovely and full of energy.
The angriest shape is the triangle. Kids who draw a monster with sharp teeth draw a row of triangles, don't they That's because the shape represents fear, distrust and doubt in some way. If you look at the bad guys in cartoons, you'll find they're all drawn with plenty of points and triangles. And triangles are stable and don't easily fall down. In films, this feature makes bad people difficult to deal with.
Not only in cartoons, but also in other kinds of films, different shapes are used for the same purpose. So, next time you see a film, try to find the hidden shapes and you will know what the characters are like.

A. By telling a story. B. By asking questions.
C. By listing numbers. D. By giving an example.
7. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage
A. Cartoon characters in round shapes can be friendly and happy.
B. Cartoon characters with a square face can be lovely and full of energy.

8. What does the underlined word “stable” mean in Paragraph 4
A. 完整的 B. 稳固的 C. 常见的 D. 规则的
9. Which of the following is the structure of the passage (①= Paragraph 1...)
A. B. C. D.

Yue Opera is one of the most popular traditional Chinese operas. It started in the early 20th century in Shengzhou, Zhejiang Province. At first, it was a simple form of farmers’ performances.
The melodies (旋律) of Yue Opera are sweet and full of a unique southern flavor. The use of the erhu (a two-stringed bowed instrument) adds to the charm of the melodies. Performers use body movements, facial expressions, and gestures to bring the characters to life. Moreover, the costumes and makeup in Yue Opera are carefully designed to match the plots.
Yue Opera is an important part of Chinese culture. However, in modern times, Yue Opera faces some challenges. The popularity of modern entertainment forms has reduced the audience for traditional operas like Yue Opera. Also, the training of new-generation performers requires a lot of time and effort. As a result, there are fewer and fewer performers and it is the most serious thing.

A Special Show Held in San Francisco
A special show, Qi Baishi: Inspiration in Ink (水墨灵韵), brings the beauty of Chinese ink art to Americans. Held at San Francisco’s Asian Art Museum on Dec 12, 2024, the show displays nearly 50 paintings and letters by Qi Baishi (1864-1957), one of China’s most famous 20th-century painters. It runs until April 9, 2025 and will later go to Boston.
Qi is best known for painting nature’s small wonders-shrimps (虾), birds, chickens and fish. His works show the simple joy of life, whether it’s a tiny insect, or an opening flower. His paintings catch millions of art fans’ eyes by bringing back memories of the countryside and their hometowns. “His works are special and he mostly praised the energy of nature and life’s strength through his art,” says Du Yuxin from the Beijing Fine Art Academy.
Born into a village in Hunan, Qi started as a carpenter (木匠). It was really a hard situation then. But just like those small lives he painted, their strong wish for life pushed him to keep going. He taught himself painting and later moved to Beijing to learn art. “He was sincere and down-to-earth, painting what he saw and felt,” Du explains. Finally, he became really good at ink painting, bringing traditional skills and his own style together.
The show isn’t just about looking at art. One popular part is Letters from Baishi. Hundreds of envelopes (信封) hang in the air. Inside, there is a letter and a copy of Qi’s artworks. Visitors can take one as a souvenir (纪念品). Next to it is the “Time-travel Postbox,” where people can write letters to Qi. Visitor Smith wrote, “Thank you for creating your art. It helps me remember this is where we come from.”
Qi’s works were first shown in San Francisco in 1960, and now this new show continues to bridge cultures and gets people around the world to have a better understanding of Chinese art.

My Role Model
Everyone has a role model, so do I. My role model is Huang Xuhua, known as the "Father of China' s Nuclear Submarines".
I admire him because he spent over 30 years working secretly on submarines without telling his family. Even when facing technical difficulties, he never gave up. What touches me most is that he once said, "I'm willing to be silent for the country's future." His words show his deep love for our nation.
From him, I've learned two important things. First, we should be brave enough to face challenges, just as he did during research. Second, we must always put the country's needs first. Whenever I feel tired in study, I think of his spirit and keep going.译林版九年级上册 Unit 4 重难点强化

Feng Yinan, an 88-year-old woman from Jiangsu province, has amazed the public by taking 97 exams since 2009 to get three university degrees in Nanjing.
With a head of white hair, Feng stood out among young students in exam rooms. When people asked her why she kept taking self-study exams at such an old age, she said, “Self-study exams are my lifelong dream.”
Feng first started her self-study in 1988. But she was doing a busy job at that time. Besides, as a mother, she had to take care of two daughters. As a result, her dream of getting a better education had to wait.
After Feng retired (退休), her old dream woke up. She worked up her courage to sign up for the exams. That autumn, at the age of 72, she again picked up the textbooks that she had laid down for many years. It was not easy for her to remember things as she aged. The rapid development of knowledge made it more difficult for her. But she never gave up. Feng is strict with herself. During the years, she put her studies in the first place. She seldom visited others and seldom took breaks even on holidays. She gave up all free-time activities—no parties, no birthday celebrations. She devoted all her time and attention to books.
With strong will, Feng planned and finished her self-study exams. Over 16 years, Feng sat 97 exams and achieved passing grades in 44 subjects.
“These exams not only made my dream come true, but also helped me keep up with modern times,” Feng said.
Now, Feng has decided to put an end to her studies for health reasons. Yet, she has found herself a new interest—learning to play the piano on her smartphone.

Jackie Robinson (1919—1972), was the first black baseball player to play in the American major leagues (大联盟) during the 20th century.
Robinson was an outstanding all-around athlete at the University of California. Yet in 1941 he had to drop out of the university to help his mother support the family. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and became a second lieutenant (少尉) in 1943. However, he had to leave the army because he refused to follow an order that a black person like him should sit at the back of the army bus. This might be one of the reasons for his future fight for human rights.
Upon leaving the army, Robinson played baseball in a black league team, where he drew the attention of the general manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Branch Rickey. Robinson’s talents on the field, his honesty, and his caring for family all satisfied Rickey. In 1947, Robinson joined the Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming the first black player in the major leagues and breaking the 63-year-old “color line”. He achieved quick success on the field and became the National League’s Most Valuable Player in 1949. From 1947 through 1956, he led the Dodgers to six league championships and one World Series victory.
The road to success is never smooth. At first, because of his color, Robinson was treated unfairly by baseball fans, players on opposite teams, and even his teammates. He wrote in his book, “Plenty of times I wanted to leave, but I had to hold to myself. I know that I am a black man in a white world. The whole thing is bigger than myself.”
After retiring (退役) from baseball in 1957, Robinson went on working for human rights. He was a spokesman for the NAACP and made appearances with Martin Luther King. In 1962, Robinson became the first black person to be introduced into the Baseball Hall of Fame. In 1984, Robinson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor for an American.
5. Why did Robinson stop his army life
A. Because he did not want to be a second lieutenant.
B. Because he refused to sit at the back of the army bus.
C. Because he had to help his mother to support his family.
D. Because he wanted to play in the American major leagues.
7. What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us
A. Robinson’s baseball team.
B. Robinson’s baseball experiences.
C. Robinson’s baseball talents.
D. Robinson’s friendship with Rickey.
7. Robinson didn’t leave the baseball team even when he was treated unfairly probably because ______.
A. he was the leading player in the baseball team
B. he needed to make a living by playing baseball
C. he thought Rickey would give him bigger tasks
D. he wanted to fight for human rights for the black
8. What conclusion can we draw from the article
A. Robinson was more suitable to be an officer.
B. Robinson was widely recognized in America.
C. Robinson received the most honors in America.
D. Robinson was the best American baseball player.

A(2025徐州二模)
You are walking down the street in the middle of the day and you see someone wearing a green hat. Some people may think it's fashionable while others don't care at all. Do you wonder what wearing a green hat means in Chinese culture Here are four colours and their meanings in Chinese culture.
In most cultures, green represents nature and is a calm colour. However, in modern Chinese culture, green has a negative meaning. For example, when you say “His face looks green”, it means he doesn't look well. When you say someone is wearing a green hat, it means the person's partner is cheating on (对……不忠) him or her.
In ancient China, yellow represented power. Only the emperor could wear this colour. Yellow was also considered as a natural colour. The Yellow River, the second-longest river in China, got its name from the yellowish soil in it. Now, when yellow is used in a sentence, it means someone fails and that something doesn't go as planned. For example, when you ask people how their relationship is going, they might say “huáng le”, which means they've broken up.
Red is considered as one of the luckiest colours in Chinese culture. In ancient China, the royal (皇室的) family wore bright red. In modern China, red is often seen at celebrations like weddings and festivals. Red also describes someone who is very popular, like a star. You will say “he is red”.
In ancient China, white was considered as common people's colour. Back then, only the rich could afford to make colourful mon people couldn't afford that, so most of their clothes were white. Now people still enjoy white clothes, but they sometimes connect white with bad things. It is connected with scary things like death.

A. make a comparison B. show the conclusion
C. introduce the topic D. express an opinion

A. bad B. clear C. deep D. wrong
3. What can we know about the colour yellow

C. The Yellow River got its name from the colour of its bank.
D. Yellow is a powerful and natural colour in the past and the present.
4. According to the passage, white ________.
A. is unusual and expensive B. is general and natural

Have you ever worn a bright red shirt and felt more energetic Or put on a soft blue sweater and felt calmer This might be related to a popular trend (趋势) called “dopamine (多巴胺) dressing”. Let's try to find out what it is and whether there is science support behind it.
Dopamine dressing comes from a book by American fashion psychologist Dawn Karen. In her 2020 book Dress Your Best Life, she says wearing colorful clothes can help us feel happier. Why Because our brain produces a chemical called dopamine when we feel good. Dopamine is like a “happy signal” in our body. We get it when we eat a delicious pizza, play with our dog, or win in a soccer game. But can clothes really make our brain produce more of it
Scientists have studied how colors affect our moods and actions. Here's what they've found. Wearing red might help you do better in sports. It can make you feel more powerful and active. Bright Colors (like yellow or pink) can make people feel lively and positive. The color green is linked to nature, like trees and grass. Wearing green can help you relax, almost like being in a peaceful park. Blue is the color of the sky and the ocean, which often bring a sense of peace.
However, no study has shown that colorful clothes directly make your brain release more dopamine. But that doesn't mean the trend is useless. When you wear colors you love, you might feel more confident or express yourself better. This can put you in a good mood, which indirectly makes you feel happier. It's like when you wear your lucky socks to a test—they don't make you smarter, but they make you feel brave! So next time when you are getting dressed, choose colors that make you feel like the best version of yourself!
5. How does the writer lead into the topic
A. By making a comparison. B. By telling a story.
C. By asking questions. D. By listing some numbers.
6. Where did the term “dopamine dressing” first appear
A. In a movie about fashion. B. In a book by Dawn Karen.
C. In a science magazine. D. In a social media post.
7. What can help with physical performance according to this text
A. Having blue hats. B. Eating less pizza.
C. Planting green trees. D. Wearing red clothes.
8. What do the underlined words “is linked to” in Paragraph 3 probably mean
A. is used to B. is similar to
C. is covered with D. is connected with
9. What is the text mainly about
A. The science behind “dopamine dressing”.
B. The way of our brain producing dopamine.
C. The reasons for different people's wearing different colors.
D. The methods of choosing your favorite color.

Colors of China
Among all traditional Chinese colors, my favorite is red. This bright colour fills Chinese celebrations with joy. During the Spring Festival, red lanterns light up the night, and red couplets bring good wishes to every home. Brides wear red dresses for luck and happiness, and children receive red envelopes filled with best wishes.
Red means good luck, happiness and unity. Last year, during the Spring Festival, I helped my grandmother make red paper cuttings. She told me red scares away bad luck and brings good fortune. Every time I see red, it reminds me of my family and makes me proud of China’s rich culture.

①The snake comes sixth in the Chinese zodiac(生肖).
②In Western culture, the description of this animal as dark and terrible is very common, from The Farmer and the Viper (毒蛇), in which the farmer is hurt by the snake he has just saved, to the tale at the start of the Bible (《圣经》) of the snake cheating Adam and Eve, and to Voldemort (伏地魔), the main bad character in Harry Potter, whose true form is a snake.
③It's not hard to understand, since snakes, with their strange looks and sound, are not exactly cute. But believe it or not, in traditional Chinese culture, snakes are actually a symbol of something good.
④In Chinese folk stories, for example, the creator of man is a goddess named Nüwa, who has a human head and the body of a snake. She created humans with the yellow earth to which she would later give life. Nüwa was kind, peace-loving and brave. She lost her life to mend (修补) the broken sky.
⑤In literature (文学), one of China's most famous folk stories is The Tale of the White Snake, which tells of the love between a man Xu Xian, and a snake-turned woman, Bai Suzhen. In the story, Bai is a symbol of beauty and loyalty to love and friends.

Recently, the topic “Why are cinema seats usually red ” has caused hot discussions on the Internet again. Many netizens said, “I didn’t even notice the color of the seats before.”
One idea is that cinema seats are red because they keep the color tradition of ancient theaters. Early theater seats were mainly for the royal and noble people (皇家贵族). They liked the gorgeous red color, so later cinema seats followed this tradition. But it makes people wonder. Cinemas are no longer just for the royal and noble. People’s tastes are becoming more various. Why aren’t there seats in all kinds of colors in cinemas
In fact, many cinema seats are designed to be red to make our movie-watching experience better. When the indoor light gets dark, red is the first color that we can’t see. For example, in bright light, the red flowers of geraniums (天竺葵) stand out against the green background. But when the light becomes dim, the flowers quickly change from bright red to a darker color. The green plants behind also lose their vividness. but they fade (褪色) more slowly. So they become more noticeable than the red flowers. When the light gets even weaker, the whole scene turns black and white.
The same is true for the movie-watching experience in cinemas. As the cinema lights dim, the seats, walls and curtains (usually red too) soon turn black. This helps us focus on the screen and enjoy the movie more.
Sure, besides red seats, some netizens said they’ve seen black seats. Not all cinemas use red seats, and black seats are also good. But you seldom see green or blue seats in cinemas. These colors take too long to fade and may break our attention while watching movies.

D. The idea that red is the first color to disappear in the dark.

Thanks to China’s new visa-free transit policy (免签过境政策), American YouTube star IShowSpeed, famously nicknamed “Jiakang Ge”, visited Dengfeng, Central China’s Henan Province, to learn Shaolin kung fu. His training video, which showed his teacher Liang Xiaolong, became popular online immediately. Liang, a modest kung fu coach at the Henan Provincial Shaolin Wushu Center, won high praise from viewers for his kindness and skills.
Liang, born into a martial arts family in 1987, started learning kung fu at the age of 11. He teaches both foreigners and locals at the center, which develops Shaolin culture and tourism. During the lesson, IShowSpeed learned basic moves like the “five-step fist” and tried Sanda skills, a mix of traditional kung fu and modern fighting. Liang later mentioned that Speed impressed him deeply with his bravery and quick learning, mastering most of the routine after just two tries.
One unforgettable moment came when IShowSpeed volunteered to try Hard Qigong, a skill where a person is hit with a stick. Though IShowSpeed clearly felt pain, Liang encouraged him by explaining that pain was part of kung fu training and life itself. Many viewers found these words inspiring.
Liang shared his belief that kung fu helps people connect even without shared languages. He described kungfu as a bridge connecting martial arts lovers across cultures (跨文化). Despite getting attention from IShowSpeed’s video, Liang remained modest, saying that his goal was to continue teaching Shaolin traditions developing cultural exchanges. And this event also shows how kung fu can bring people from different cultures together.

四、阅读理解。
A(2025常州二模)
I heard many parents complaining that their teenage children are rebelling (叛逆). I suggested they recall their own teenage years. At that age they would like to be growing away from parents. They preferred to stand on their own feet. But take a good look at the present rebellion. It seems that teenagers are taking the same way of showing that they disagree with their parents. Instead of going out fighting bravely on their own, most of them are grasping one another’s hands for reassurance (安慰).
They declare (宣称) they want to dress as they like, but they all wear the same clothes. They set off in new directions in music, but somehow they all end up gathering around listening to the same record. Their reason for thinking or acting in a similar way is that the crowd is doing it. They have come out of their cocoon (茧) into a larger cocoon.
It has become harder and harder for a teenager to stand up against the popularity wave and to go his or her own way. Industry has firmly carved out a teenage market. These days every teenager can learn from the advertisements what a teenager should have and be.
And many of today’s parents have come to award high marks for the popularity of their children. All these create a great barrier (障碍) for the teenager who wants to find his or her own path.
But the barrier is worth climbing over. The path is worth following. You may want to listen to classical music instead of going to a party. You may want to collect rocks when everyone else is collecting records. You may have some thoughts that you don’t, care to share at once with your classmates. Well, go for it. Find yourself. Be yourself. Popularity will come with the people who respect you for who you are. That is the only kind of popularity that really matters.
1. From the second paragraph, we can know the writer thinks that many teenagers ________.
A. are much afraid of getting lost
B. don’t have confidence to go out alone
C. fail to show their own personalities
D. have difficulty understanding each other
2. What does the writer think of advertisements
A. Believable B. Influential. C. Encouraging. D. Attractive.
3. All of the following are barriers (障碍) for the teenagers to go their own way EXCEPT ________.
A. teenagers are experiencing rebellion
B. industry has effects on teenagers
C. parents pay attention to whether their children are popular or not
D. teenagers hope to look and act the same way as people of their age
4. Through this passage, the writer wants to tell ________.
A. parents how to control and guide their children
B. readers how to be popular with people around
C. teenagers how to be real and behave themselves
D. people how to understand and respect each other
B(2025苏州二模)
If you are reading this, you were probably born in the 2000s. The oh-ohs. The 21st century. That would make you young, creative, and no doubt smart. Maybe good-looking, too. Right But what do other people think about your generation
Some adults worry that you’re more interested in the screen in front of you than the world around you. They think of you as the “face-down generation” because you use your phone so much. They wonder how you will deal with school, friends and family. Are today’s teenagers too busy texting and taking selfies (自拍) to become successful in real life or “IRL”, as you would say
Other adults worry that today’s youth are spoilt (溺爱) and don’t want to face the challenges of adult life. Many children born in the 1990s and 2000s were raised by “helicopter parents” who were always there to guide and help their children with a busy schedule filled with homework and after-school activities such as dancing, drawing, or sports. With parents who do everything for them, today’s youth seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.
Does the face-down generation need a heads-up Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today’s teenagers are better educated and more creative than past generations. They also seem to be willing to become leaders. More young people than ever volunteer to help their communities. There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won the 2014 Noble Peace Prize for pushing girls’ rights to go to school.
So if you’re one of the oh-ohs, there’s no reason to be worried about the future. Things are looking up for the face-down generation.
1. Who is this passage written for
A. The teenager. B. The teachers. C. The parents. D. The oh-ohs.
2. What do helicopter parents always do
A. Help and direct their children.
B. Do homework instead of children.
C. Guide children to face challenges.
D. Plan a busy schedule for children.
3. How does the writer feel about the younger generation
A. Anxious. B. Confident. C. Dissatisfied. D. Helpless
4. What can we learn according to the passage
A. Parents should put down their phones.
B. Young people should be better educated.
C. The oh-ohs should be hopeful about the future.
D. Face-down generation should raise their heads.

Being the new kid at school can be a terrible experience! It might seem like everybody else knows exactly how to act. But remember you aren’t alone. Actually, everybody is nervous on their first day and you can fit right in with the help of the following tips.
Plan ahead the night before. You’ll feel less worried if everything is ready before you wake up for your first day. Lay out your first-day outfit (全套服装), pack a lunch, and make sure you have all your school things ready to go. Planning ahead can help you get a good night’s sleep and feel less nervous.
Choose clothes that make you feel great. Make sure your clothes are cleaned and that you’ve taken a shower and brushed your teeth. If you hope to attract friends with similar interests, try wearing a T-shirt with your favourite animal or sports team on it. This can be an easy way to start a talk and break the ice a little.
Do your best to stay calm and positive. It’s normal to feel nervous or anxious when you’re the new kid at school. If you feel nervous, start by taking some deep breaths. Remember that everyone is the new kid at some point and that it’s not a big deal. You can listen to music that makes you feel calm or happy. Try imagining a good first day in your mind instead of keeping thinking about things that could go wrong.
Use your body language to show confidence. Don’t come in on the first day with your head hanging down, your shoulders lowered, and your eyes on the floor. Walk with your head held up. Make eye contact with other people if they talk to you.

After watching the film Ne Zha 2, I am deeply touched by "I’m the master of my own fate".
As a ninth grader facing the high school entrance examination, I'm struggling with two main problems. First, I find it hard to balance study and rest. Staying up late makes me tired in class. Second, I often feel nervous about math problems, which affects my confidence.
To solve these problems, I've made a detailed study plan. I set specific time for each subject and include short breaks to refresh myself. For math, I practice basic formulas every morning and ask teachers for help when stuck. Besides, I remind myself that challenges are opportunities to grow.
Like Ne Zha, I believe effort can change my fate. As the movie says, "Who I am depends on myself."译林版九年级上册 Unit 5 Art world重难点强化

A(2025苏州中考)
Want to know what your friends are really like Take a look at their music playlist. More than 36,000 people, from all over the world, took part in an experiment (实验). It compared their personalities with how much they liked different musical styles. The results show that personalities do influence what we listen to. Here's what certain musical styles say about who you are.
Rock Like the sound of loud guitars and heavy drum beats This type of music sounds very exciting, but fans of it are often quite gentle. Country music If cowboy hats and guitars get you singing along, it's possible that you're hard-working, preferring traditional styles and values.
Jazz Fans of this strong music always come up with new ideas and are good at learning. If you like the saxophone of John Coltrane, then you're probably self-confident and easy to get on with. Classical music If Beethoven and Mozart have you turning up the music, you're probably quiet, but happy with who you are and comfortable with the world around you.
But the experiment didn't tell the whole story: where we grow up, who we often go out with, and our personal experiences play into our taste, too. The songs you choose to be part of your life make you different from others. But no matter what style you like, music is for everyone. And enjoying different types of music lets you get a taste of cultures you might not have experienced before. So experiment with your playlist!
1. What influences our musical taste according to the experiment
A. Personalities. B. Friends. C. Parents. D. Instruments.
2. According to the passage, if Daniel is creative, what may be found in his playlist
A. Rock. B. Country music. C. Jazz. D. Classical music.
3. What may be the writer's advice for us
A. Changing our personalities.
B. Trying different types of music.
C. Doing experiments with friends.
D. Getting more learning experiences.
4. What is the main idea of the passage
A. How different cultures influence you.
B. What your playlist says about you.
C. What songs we can choose to enjoy.
D. Why there are different musical styles.
B(2025南通一模)
As the sun rises over a Beijing village on a usual morning in early 2025, 75-year-old Hao Lanying sits at her desk, scissors in hand, cutting red paper into the shape of a snake winding around a bird. The design is part of a series she has created to celebrate the Year of the Snake.
“I designed the ‘auspicious snake' series as gifts for elderly locals,” said Hao, who is from Jishanying Village in Beijing's Shunyi District and is a master of the art of paper cutting, which is a form of intangible cultural heritage.
Hao has mastered the unique (独特的) “water-ripple” paper-cutting technique, which dates back to the late Qing Dynasty. What makes Hao's work unique is her use of scissors instead of knives. With skilled hands, she presents special designs of rippling (涟漪) water and falling raindrops on single-layer red paper, bringing her designs to life.
Hao has devoted over half a century to saving this dying art form. Her efforts gained attention around the world in 2004 when UNESCO collected her works. And over the past 20 years, her works have been presented as national gifts to leaders of many European countries.
A map of the world in Hao's studio documents her cultural journey: a total of 193 red pins show the countries and areas where her works have travelled, while 28 marked flight paths weave together her stories of cultural exchange.
Below the map, a handwritten note reads, “I hope the roots of Chinese paper cutting will grow in every corner.”
Hao's international journey began in 2005 when she visited Brazil with a Chinese women's group. There, she designed a piece combining (组合) Brazilian feathers and Youngge dance ribbons with local women. It later became a stamp celebrating 40 years of China-Brazil friendship.
“She cuts not just patterns, but the flowing story of China,” a media reported.
On a wall in her studio, two photographs present a striking contrast (鲜明对比). One shows Hao in 1984, cutting paper in her courtyard and surrounded by drying works. The other was taken last year, showing Hao in the same courtyard, surrounded this time by students from the United States, France, Italy and other countries as she taught them her craft.
Now facing the digital age, Hao has taken an open-minded way to continuing her work. She has led the development of an augmented reality (AR) teaching system for paper cutting, which allows users to scan her works to experience the whole process of its creation.
Her water-ripple style of paper cutting has been explained in educational materials for children. She has also started a paper-cutting cultural and creative brand, breathing new life into traditional culture.
At the opening of a United Nations exhibition, she said, “Each paper-cutting is a window into Chinese culture, and when millions of windows open, we see the starry sky of human civilizations (文明).”
5. Which of the following is true according to the passage
A. Hao used knives to create designs on single-layer red paper.
B. Hao showed little interest in developing AR teaching system.
C. Hao's paper-cutting has become children's teaching materials.
D. Hao's works were presented as gifts to many Brazilian leaders.
6. The 193 red pins on Hao's world map represents ________.
A. the total number of her paper-cutting artworks
B. locations where her artworks have been shared
C. different countries she plans to visit in the future
D. the number of her stories about cultural exchange
7. Which of the following is the correct order of this story
a. UNESCO collected Hao's different works.
b. Hao visited Brazil and created art with local women.
c. Hao taught foreign students her craft in her courtyard.
d. Hao learned the special “water-ripple” paper-cutting skill.
e. Hao made special “auspicious snake” designs for elderly locals.
A. a-b-d-e-c B. d-b-a-e-c C. d-a-b-c-e D. a-d-b-c-e
8. What does the sentence “Each paper-cutting is a window into Chinese culture” suggest
A. Windows are important symbols in paper-cutting art.
B. Paper-cutting should be taught in schools worldwide.
C. Paper-cutting represents traditional Chinese customs.
D. Traditional art helps people understand Chinese culture.

Art is an important part of my life, and my favourite art form is making kites.
As a small kid, I had a big dream of flying. One day when I was five, my grandfather made me a bird kite. That made me really excited. When I held a line to let the bird kite fly into the sky, I had a feeling that my dream of flying came true. Since then, I have made it a rule to make a kite every spring. Now my study is full of colourful kites.
As I’ m growing older, like a kite, I will leave my parents. But I know the line is always in my parents' hand. They will watch me as I fly higher and farther.译林版九年级上册 Unit 6 重难点强化

Detective Drake was napping with his feet up on his desk when the phone rang. He yawned (打呵欠) and picked it up. “Hello ” he said, “I'll take the case. I will depart at once.” Drake took his umbrella, which was suitable for the rain outside, and walked out into the noisy city.
The case
Drake hurried to the police station. “We've been getting unfinished math problems in the mail.” the Chief said, “They're signed ‘Guessss Who '. Every day the number of letters increases. We keep getting more. They are blocking the mail room.”
Drake looked at the paper in the Chief's hand. He looked at one letter's clue carefully:

“The word guess isn't spelled right,” Drake said thoughtfully. “Give me the letters, Chief,” he said. “And if someone asks you, say that I've advised you not to discuss the case.” Drake took the clues and went back to his office. “That's strange,” thought Mom, peering into the cookie jar. “It's empty.”
She turned it upside down, just to make sure.
“I'm sure that I filled it up yesterday,” she thought. “Dad and Harry can't have eaten them all!”
Mom looked around the kitchen. Everything else seemed to be in the right place. She looked in all the cabinets. She searched on all the shelves. She looked in the refrigerator. She looked in the dog's bowl. But she couldn't find the missing cookies anywhere.
When Harry got home from school, Mom was waiting with the cookie jar.
“Anything to tell me ” she asked, pointing to the empty jar.
“Maybe you left them somewhere, Mom,” said Harry. “I mean, you do, um, lose things sometimes.”
Mom tried again when Dad got home.
“They are probably in the dog,” said Dad. “He always looks hungry.”
Suddenly, Harry rushed up to his room. When he came back, he was holding a magnifying glass and a large notebook.
“Don't worry, Mom,” he said. “Detective Harry and his dog are here to solve the mystery of the missing cookies.”
“Humph,” said Dad. “I bet that means you'll want a reward.”
Harry began searching for clues. He didn't have to look very hard. He found cookie crumbs on the hall carpet and on the kitchen floor. There were even cookie crumbs on the dog.
“I wonder what that's doing there ” said Harry, picking up a half-eaten cookie from Dad's bedside table.
Next, Harry decided to interview the chief suspects.
“Mom,” he said. “How many cookies have you had today ”
“Um, none,” said Mom. “That's the problem.”
“Dad,” said Harry. “Can you explain what this cookie was doing in your bedroom ”
“I have no idea,” said Dad. “It is because of that dog. Ask him.”
That night, after Mom and Dad had gone to bed, Harry quietly went downstairs and set up a clever trap for the cookie thief. He put new cookies in the jar and left it on the kitchen table. Then he tied a long piece of string around the jar. He tied the other end around his finger. Finally, Harry went into the family room next door, settled down on the sofa, and fell fast asleep.
A few hours later, Harry felt a tug on his finger. He secretly went into the kitchen. A dark figure was munching a cookie. The cookie thief was…
“Got you!” said Harry. But Dad didn't seem to hear him. He was still fast asleep.

Long ago, a raja lived in India. His people were rice farmers. The raja said to them, “Give me most of your rice, and I will store it. When the time of famine comes, everyone will have rice to eat.” So each year, the raja took most of the people’s rice and stored it.
For many years, the rice grew well. Then one year the rice did not grow, and there was a famine.
“Give us rice!” the people begged.
“No!” cried the raja. “The famine may last a long time. I must have the rice for myself. A raja must not go hungry!”
One day, an elephant was carrying two big baskets of rice to the raja.
A village girl named Rani noticed something. A little rice was falling from one of the baskets. She walked behind the elephant and caught the falling rice in her skirt.
Rani took all the rice to the raja.
“This rice fell from one of the elephant’s baskets, and I’m returning it to you,” she said.
“I wish to give you a reward for returning my rice,” the raja said. “Ask me for anything.”
“Oh, Raja,” said Rani. “I do not need any reward. But if you wish, you may give me one grain of rice.”
“One grain of rice ” cried the raja. “That’s not enough!”
“Very well,” said Rani. “Today, you can give me a single grain of rice. Then tomorrow you can double it and give me two grains of rice. The next day, four grains of rice and so on for thirty days.”
“That’s not much of a reward,” said the raja. “But you shall have it.”
And the raja gave Rani a single grain of rice. The next day, Rani got two grains of rice.
On the 9th day, Rani got 256 grains of rice.
“This girl is not very clever,” thought the raja. “There was more rice in her skirt. Why didn’t she keep it ”
On the 16th day, Rani received 32,768 grains of rice. On the 27th day, the raja delivered 64 baskets of rice to Rani.
“One grain of rice is turning into a lot,” the raja thought. “But I shall give her the reward, as a raja should.”
On the final day, 256 elephants carried the last of the rice to Rani—536870,912 grains.
“What will you do with this rice ” asked the raja. “I have no more.”
“I will give it to all the hungry people,” said Rani. “And I will leave you a basket. From now on, you’ll only take as much rice as you need. Promise ”
“I promise,” said the raja. And from then on, the raja was truly good, as a raja should be.

How to keep safe in daily life
Recently, more and more attention has been paid to teenagers' personal safety. Here are some suggestions about how to keep safe in daily life.
First, we should obey the traffic rules. When the traffic lights are red, we shouldn't cross the road. And we shouldn't ride the electric bikes. Second, we should pay attention to the food safety. Be sure not to eat too much junk food. Third, when we go upstairs or downstairs, we should keep to the right. Fourth, be careful while doing sports. Fifth, remember not to swim in the river. It's dangerous. What's more, we should be careful when we make friends, especially on line. If we' re in danger, we must call the police for help in time so that we can keep ourselves safe. Last, We should pay attention to mental health safety, too.
In short, safety must come first.
