Bradley McConachie, a 33 year old Australian is actually a student in international relations completing his PhD through Griffith University. He came to Beijing for a cooperative research at Peking University two years ago. Such an academic life was colorful with a chance offered by the cultural exchanges project, “I'm in China”.
Bradley was lucky to win the most “likes” for his photo story about his life in China and became one of 20 winners to visit locations by the project. All the winners' experiences were filmed to produce a reality show, My Chinese Working Day, which will be broadcast.
Bradley was chosen to work as a recreational manager for a Chinese wedding. The film crew took them to many “amazing sites” and the staff at the resort taught them a lot about how to incorporate modern Chinese features while still keeping traditional customs.
“I would have to say two things stick out as the most memorable: the helicopter ride and talking with the staff at the hotel about how they organize weddings here in China,” he said. That was Bradley's first time to be in a helicopter, and he was too absorbed with the stunning view of the coastline.
“I think it is so important to show other Australians the different landscapes China has to offer. I think so many Australians, when they think about China, imagine the historical sites of Beijing and the exciting things to see in Shanghai but have no idea about other beautiful places, like Sanya or the many other places people have been taken to in this TV series. It was nice to experience these little touches. I was happy to be a part of that experience!” Bradley said.

To dozens of kindergartners in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, it was as if Italian cook Franco Bergamino was performing a “magic show”. He was greeted by waves of oohs and ahhs as the kids watched him magically turn dough, egg, sugar and fruit into artwork.
The scene was part of the activities of the World Week of Italian Cuisine's Chongqing station. The sixth edition of the World Week of Italian Cuisine was held in late November in several cities across China. The event aimed to fully present the Italian cooking tradition and bring a real Italian taste.
“The event stressed tradition and sustainability (可持续性). Both are also the Italian diet spirit, which is to use simple ingredients to make nutritious diet,” said Guido Bilancini, Consul General of Italy in Chongqing. More than 17 restaurants, bars, hotels and supermarkets in southwestern Chinese cities including Chongqing, Chengdu and Guiyang participated in this event.
Salvatore Portoghese owns a Western style restaurant in Chongqing. “What I've been trying to do is to bring diners in Chongqing a real taste of my hometown,” said Portoghese. He is devoted to combining local ingredients with traditional Italian cuisine. At this food week, he used jam made of locally grown pumpkins to replace the traditional ketchup (番茄酱) to make a Burrata Cheese pizza, a typical Italian food.
The Mediterranean style diet, emphasizing plenty of fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains and healthy fats, is catching on among Chinese food lovers. Even in the southwestern region where local cuisine is noted for distinctive spicy and pungent flavors and abundant use of oil and seasonings, a Mediterranean style diet is favored by many youngsters pursuing a healthier lifestyle.
“Food is about connection and sharing. We believe the holding of such an event can help China and Italy explore more cooperation opportunities in areas where common interests lie,” said Bilancini.

For three days, the doctor didn't get single patient. Then on the fourth day, a woman opened the door to his office, saw him and ran away.
“I had to run after her, saying I can help her with the problem,” said Diarra Boubacar. The 53 year old still has a good laugh when he talks about his first day working as a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) at a private hospital in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
“If my approach is not effective, I will not take any money from you,” he promised the woman. The woman finally accepted his treatment and felt better. “She started bringing her parents and her husband, and they all became my patients.”
Born in the African country of Mali, Boubacar first came to China in 1984 on a student exchange programme majoring in Chinese language and culture at Beijing Language and Culture University. After the course, he studied TCM at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine.
Since TCM is also related to Chinese history and culture, students have to study ancient Chinese literature as most of the medical texts were written in ancient Chinese characters. “That's a subject even the Chinese find difficult; so think of me, a foreigner!” he said.
However, the greatest challenge for him was to convince people that even though he was a foreigner, he could still treat them effectively with TCM.
Besides his work in the community, Boubacar is also known as the “African Norman Bethune”. Doctor Bethune was a Canadian frontline doctor who ran mobile hospital in north China in the 1930s.
He plans to build a hospital with an educational centre where people can learn TCM in Africa. “If they learn TCM, they will be able to treat people in Africa in a very cheap and effective way.”

Good morning, everyone!
My name is Li Hua. I feel privileged to have this opportunity of giving a speech on environmental protection. The threat to environment has increased alarmingly in recent years. It is high time that we took actions to alleviate the situation.
Firstly, we can start with the right handling of waste. Not only are we supposed to acquire a good knowledge of garbage classification, but we should put it into practice. Besides, it is vital for us to switch off devices when not in use so as to save energy. What's more, I recommend that we use less of our personal vehicles and adjust ourselves to using public transport and bicycles for short distances.
To sum up, we all owe a duty to make our Earth a cleaner place for ourselves. I hope we all will implement these measures and do every bit to protect our environment.
That's all. Thank you.
第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When a tornado hit a small town nearby, many families were left homeless. Afterward, all the local newspapers carried stories of the families who suffered the hardest to appeal to people's attention and assistance.
One Sunday, a particular picture especially touched me. A young woman stood in front of a mobile home, a depressed expression on her face. A young boy, seven or eight years old, stood at her side, eyes downcast. Hiding behind her skirt was a tiny girl who stared into the camera, wide eyes with confusion and fear. The article below gave clothing sizes closely matched ours. This would be a good opportunity to teach my seven year old twins, Brad and Brett, and three year old Meghan to help those less fortunate than themselves.
“We have so much. And these poor people now have nothing,” I said. “We'll share what we have with them.” I brought three large boxes down from the room upstairs and placed them in the living room. Meghan watched seriously, as the boys and I filled one of the boxes with canned goods and foods. While I sorted through our clothes, I encouraged the boys to go through their toys and donate some of their less favorite things. The boys were pleased to join. Brad rose and went to his room fast. He came back bringing his action figures that he played with not so frequently. Brett also jumped up and ran to fetch some of his Matchbox cars and airplane models. Meghan watched quietly as the boys piled up abandoned toys.
The boys placed the objects they had chosen to donate into one of the boxes while I filled the third box with clothes. Meghan walked up with Lucy, her worn, faded, best loved rag doll hugged tightly to her chest. “I'll help you find something for the little girl, too.” I said to the little Meghan.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
“Mommy, I will give Lucy to them,” Meghan turned to me. Recognizing what little Meghan's gesture meant, I removed my old jacket from the box of clothes.
“Mommy, I will give Lucy to them,” Meghan turned to me. “Oh, honey,” I said. “You don't have to give Lucy. You love her so much.” Meghan nodded seriously, eyes glistening with tears. “Lucy makes me happy, Mommy. Maybe she'll make that little girl happy, too.” She paused in front of the box that held the toys, pressed her round little face into Lucy's flat face, gave her a final kiss, and then laid her gently on top of the other toys. The boys watched, open mouthed, as their baby sister placed her favorite doll in the box.
Recognizing what little Meghan's gesture meant, I removed my old jacket from the box of clothes. I replaced it with the new hunter green jacket that I had bought on sale last week. I believed the young woman in the picture would like it as much as I did. The boys had also been inspired by our behavior and carried their beloved things. We all wished the family could pass the difficult period as soon as possible and that they would love the things we gave them with all our heart.

注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
“Mommy, I will give Lucy to them,” Meghan turned to me.﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍
