Last week, during our football training match, my teammate Mike fell down while running towards the goal. He cried out in pain, and we saw his arm seemed to be broken as it couldn’t move at all. We immediately stopped the match. One of us ran to get the first aid kit. Meanwhile, I checked Mike’s breathing, which was steady. Then, following the first-aid knowledge we learned, we carefully supported his injured arm to keep it from moving. We also comforted him to stay calm until the doctor arrived.
This experience made me realize the importance of first-aid skills. They can really make a difference in emergencies.

【原文】
Welcome to our health program. I’m Dr. Smith. Today we’re going to talk about how to protect our eyes. Nowadays many of us get eye problems. That’s because we don’t use our eyes in correct ways. Here’s some advice. We can’t watch the screen of a TV, a computer or a smartphone for a long time. Every twenty minutes, we should stop to look at something far away and we’re supposed to wear sunglasses when out in the sun. We’d better not read in the sun. It is harmful to our eyes. According to reports, about 35.6% of primary school students and nearly 81% of senior high school students are nearsighted. So after class students should be encouraged to go outside during breaks. Another important thing is to get an eye examination every two years. If the doctors notice our problems earlier, it will be easier to correct the problems. That’s all. Thanks for listening.

In schools, crowded stairs can be dangerous. Students may push each other or run down the steps, which sometimes leads to accidents like falls or stampedes (踩踏). To keep students safe, three primary school students invented “voice-controlled smart stairs”.
These smart stairs look just like ordinary stairs, but they have hidden sensors. There are 8 flat film pressure sensors on the right side of each step, and a long linear sensor along the middle line. When students step on these sensors in the wrong way, the stairs automatically play voice prompts. For example, if someone walks on the middle line or crosses the steps, it says “Please keep to the right” or “Do not cross the steps”. If many people stand on one step (showing a crowd), it warns “Do not crowd, please move slowly”.
The invention was not easy to make. The biggest challenge was programming the sensors to work correctly. With their teacher’s help, the students learned basic coding and fixed the problems. Now the smart stairs work well in their school’s model. The students hope that one day real stairs in schools will use this design.
The voice-controlled smart stairs are helpful for two reasons. First, they remind students to follow rules and stay safe. Second, they teach kids about using technology to solve real-life problems. It’s a great example of how young inventors can make their surroundings safer.

Imagine you are walking through deep snow. As you walk, you leave footprints where you’ve been. That’s what happens when you are using technology equipment (设备), such as computers and smartphones. You leave your digital footprint and it will never disappear.
Here are reasons why your digital footprint should matter to you.
How people see you

Years later, it’s found by the university you are applying to, and they don’t think it’s funny. Maybe they decide you are not the “right” kind of person for them.
Your private information
Not everything can be shared with everyone. For example, you might share your school reports with your parents, but keep them secret to your e-friends. If you share them on the internet, they will not be a secret any more. Therefore, to protect your privacy (隐私), remember to put out less information online.
Keep your money safe
There are plenty of people looking at information about you, and some of them want to steal it from you. So you shouldn’t write bank details, card numbers or passwords in emails or text messages.
