设问方式以特殊疑问句形式为主,常以when、where、what、which、who、how much/many等疑问词引出问题。
技法1 直接信息题——定位比对找答案
直接信息理解的题目在原文中可以直接找到答案,不需要考生对信息进行分析、概括或推理判断,考查考生识别事实性信息的能力。正确选项和原文在表述上没有太大的差别。

[典例3] (2025·全国二卷阅读B)Kathy Ho teaches high school inside Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford (LPCH). “Sometimes I don't like saying that I'm a teacher,” says Ho. “People get in their minds an idea of what teachers do, but that's not really what it is here.”
“Here” is room 386, where each year, about 500 LPCH patients also become students. The hospital school is free of parents, doctors, and medical procedures. It's a place of learning. About half of Ho's students stay for a week or less; others are there for more than a year. Most of Ho's students will recover, which means that preparing them to return to school is an increasingly important component of care.
Still, in room 386, academics don't come first. Physical health and mental health are the priority. “If you're scared about something and thinking only about that, there's no way you're going to be able to learn,” Ho says. “I'm a coach, an adviser, and a comforter, and that's what it means to be a hospital teacher.”
24.Who does Ho teach at LPCH

(2025·石家庄市教学质量检测)Writer Chloe Dalton discovered an unexpected teacher in nature when a damaged Internet cable, chewed by a brown hare (野兔) in her countryside home, brought not annoyance but concern for the animal. This marked a significant shift for Dalton, whose book Raising Hare records her relationship with a hare she rescued in early 2021.
She discovered a newborn hare near her house, unguarded by a nest or its mother. At first, she left it, not wanting to disturb nature's course. But when she returned hours later to find the hare still there, exposed to the rough weather and potential enemies, she nervously took it home, without any knowledge of hare care. She carefully fed it milk with a dropper. While there was plenty of rabbit advice online, hares were still mysterious.
Refusing to domesticate the hare, Dalton let it move freely in her home, adjusting her busy life to match its habits. Its simple life reshaped her view:“If I could get this much pleasure from something so simple,” she reflects, “what else might be waiting to be discovered?” Their life together ended the strong focus on her busy life and brought a greater awareness of the environment.
In her book, Dalton gives historical context on the human-hare relationship and illustrates how horribly hares have often been treated. The brown hare population in Britain has declined 80 percent in the past century due to hunting and agriculture. The story provides a peaceful feeling with its delicate illustrations, but Dalton avoids idealizing nature, recognizing humans' influence on animals.
Animal encounter books are common, and the good ones act like peaceful countryside escapes. We already understand the basic outlines even without reading books with similar themes—Catherine Raven's Fox & I and Helen Macdonald's H Is for Hawk. But Dalton's weak animal is much lower on the food chain, adding more suspense to Raising Hare: Will the small creature survive until the story ends Dalton's journey with her “weak companion” offers a reminder that healing (疗愈) often comes not from control, but from adjusting to nature.

Growing up in a multicultural household is an experience that profoundly shapes a person's identity. As a boy, my life is like a painting made with colors from German, Hungarian, and Argentine cultures. The unique mix of their languages, traditions, and customs blends (融合) together, shaping how I see the world.
I spoke four languages naturally: German and Hungarian with my parents, Spanish outside home, and later English. My parents survived World War Ⅱ and taught me their stories of hope through their languages. At school, we learned different subjects in Spanish, German, and English. Though switching languages was easy for me, sometimes, it made me feel different. While friends had one main culture, I balanced many cultures, which made me feel like I belonged nowhere.
Our home traditions stood out. We ate dinner earlier than most Argentine families did. When friends stayed out very late as teenagers, I preferred going home earlier like my family. Music at home, in addition, was different too. Instead of Argentine tango or folk songs, we listened to German classical music and American pop. I connected more to these sounds from my parents' childhoods.
Living with three cultures was hard at times. Even though I was born in Argentina, I didn't always feel completely Argentine. My daily habits, traditions, and even how I thought about things felt more connected to my family's European background. I wished I didn't have to explain why my family did things differently. As I grew up, however, I learned to love my background since it taught me to adapt, understand different views, and feel at home anywhere. If you have multiple cultures, don't see them as an issue. It's special! I have more homes, more traditions, and a wider view of the world. My background is a gift that makes me unique.

Surgeons often emphasize that in the event of a heart attack, time is crucial for saving heart muscle. The heart relies on a continuous supply of oxygen delivered by the heart's blood vessels (血管). When these vessels become blocked, the oxygen supply stops, and the heart's muscle cells begin to die within minutes. Survivors of heart attacks frequently suffer from permanent heart failure, with a worrying statistic showing that 50% of them may not survive beyond five years. “Eventually, their hearts become so weak that they can't sustain sufficient blood flow, and they ultimately stop,” explains Sanjay Sinha, a cardiologist at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
However, within the next five years, there could be a new alternative—to grow live, beating “heart patches (补丁)”. Sinha, along with a team of biologists at the University of Cambridge's Stem Cell Institute, is working on this innovative approach. These heart patches are tiny, beating pieces of heart muscle. They are grown in lab dishes over a month. The process begins by taking blood cells and reprogramming them into a specific type of stem cell capable of developing into any cell type within the human body. Sinha is currently preparing to test these patches, first in mice and then in pigs. If successful, he hopes to set up a human trial within five years.
In the United States, scientists from Stanford University are also working on creating heart patches. They envision a future procedure where ultrasound and MRI (超声波和核磁共振) scans are used to identify damaged sections. Based on the shape of the section, a custom heart patch would be 3D printed to fit perfectly. Surgeons would then open the chest area and attach the patch directly to the heart.
The major challenge with this method is establishing “electrical connectivity” between the new patch and the existing heart to ensure they beat in harmony. Additionally, the cost of developing and using these patches is significant, which could impact accessibility. However, if these challenges can be overcome, Sinha is optimistic that heart patches could transform the lives of millions worldwide.

Birders often experience the thrill of identifying a new species. When a tapping sound alerts an observer to the presence of an unfamiliar woodpecker nearby, she starts a phone app to identify the bird. Just as previous studies show, curiosity is what drives her to act now and find answers quickly.
But this picture of curiosity is incomplete. Consider the appeal of murder-mystery movies, where viewers enjoy the suspense rather than rushing to the ending. This reflects a different flavor of curiosity—one enjoys the journey of discovery rather than demanding quick answers. A study published in National Academy of Sciences explains that while curiosity can drive an urgent desire for answers, it can also set people up for moments of discovery.
In the study, more than 2,000 people watched short videos of animated (动画) lines gradually forming shapes online. While watching each video, the participants reported how curious they were about what the drawing would become, how confident they felt about their prediction and how joyful or frustrated they felt with their curiosity changing as a video progressed. They were also given the choice to either keep watching the videos slowly unfold or skip to the end. Interestingly, greater curiosity motivated people to slow down and continue watching to experience the winding path to resolution, greatly avoiding early answers.
The findings differ from the previous studies because watching events unfold over time may be more engaging than simply wanting a missing answer. Further, curiosity may be more enduring (耐久的) when people assume that answers are on the way. When opportunities to seek information are abundant, curiosity may favor its patient accumulation. However, when waiting appears unproductive, individuals turn to immediate resolutions.
The finding underlines the complexity of curiosity, opening avenues for new explorations. Learning new things can be tough, but harnessing curiosity can help us enjoy the process of learning and delight in overcoming challenges, much like solving a detective story.

Every great idea begins with a spark of realization—and for Snehha Naarsaria, an accountant and a mum in Portugal, that spark came from her own home.
Financial literacy (素养) is no longer a skill reserved for adults; it is becoming a fundamental part of a child's education. But teaching financial concepts to a child turned out to be harder than Snehha Naarsaria had expected. There were no engaging tools, no reliable resources, and no clear way to introduce these essential skills to a young mind. This disconnection between knowledge and application struck her deeply and that was when the idea for Fin Free Kid was born.
Fin Free Kid is a distinctive initiative that equips children with essential money management skills through engaging books, flashcards, DIY kits, posters, and an immersive course. It offers comprehensive learning materials satisfying different aspects of financial literacy which are available through their website. The resources aren't just about teaching—they're about empowering kids to think independently, make informed decisions, and develop habits that will serve them for life.
With a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction, the program has earned widespread praise for its exceptional service and transformative impact on young learners. Parents have reported a noticeable shift in their children's attitudes and behaviors after using Fin Free Kid's products. Many children have developed the habit of saving money and learned to make more thoughtful spending choices. A feature in The Economic Times described Fin Free Kid as “a pioneer in financial education for kids, bridging the gap in a crucial area of learning”.
With its growing popularity and the trust of parents across Portugal, Fin Free Kid plans to introduce advanced resources for older children and expand its partnerships with schools to integrate financial literacy into curricula. “Our mission is to ensure that every child has the tools and knowledge to deal with the complexities of the financial world,” says Snehha Naarsaria, “The changes we've seen in children so far are just the beginning. Together, we're building financially literate generations.”
