Climbing Mount Fuji can be a very big task at any age — after all, it is Japan’s tallest mountain, standing at 12,388 feet. But even so, Kokichi Akuzawa recently surprised everyone. He became the oldest person ever to reach the top at an amazing 102 years old.
Akuzawa started his record-setting trip on August 3, 2025. He went with his 70-year-old daughter, granddaughter, and four friends from a local climbing club. They took the Yoshida Trail, the easiest and most popular of the mountain’s four routes. Even so, it still has a 5,800-foot climb. The group camped along the route for two nights, passing huts, shops, and first-aid (急救) stations. On August 5, Akuzawa finally stood on the top.
“I’m impressed I climbed so well,” Akuzawa told The Guardian in an interview and noted he didn’t think this success was easy. “Getting to the top was hard and I almost gave up halfway through the climb.” he added. “But my friends encouraged me. Lots of people supported me too, so I made it. Everything worked out in the end.”
To get ready for the climb, Akuzawa trained hard. He woke up at 5 a. m. every day for a one-hour walk and climbed a mountain weekly. He has loved climbing and painting mountains for 88 years. He plans to paint scenes from the mountain top, as this might be his last trip there.
This wasn’t his first time climbing Mount Fuji — he did it at 96 too. In the past six years, he overcame heart failure and injuries from a climbing fall. He said this climb was harder than the last, as he felt slower and less energetic.
Akuzawa got a prize from Guinness World Records for his achievement, which made him very happy. He joked he has no plans to climb Mount Fuji again soon, but added, “Ask me next year, and I might say yes.”
4. What makes Akuzawa’s 2025 climb special
A. His old age. B. The route he chose.
C. The time he spent. D. His climbing team size.
5. How did Akuzawa feel about his recent climb
A. Regretful. B. Satisfied. C. Anxious. D. Bored.

7. What can we infer about Akuzawa

Surfing (冲浪) is for everyone but local women and girls in Sri Lanka are rarely seen in the ocean. Many haven’t learned to swim, even though they grew up on the island. That’s why the SeaSisters was born: to teach women and girls swimming and surfing for free, while building their confidence along the way.
In 2018, Amanda Prifti and Martina Burscher met on Sri Lanka’s east coast. They worked together to start the country’s first all-female surf club, which soon became SeaSisters. Today, nearly seven years later, local women lead the organization. SeaSisters not only tries to make ocean activities more open to women but also challenges traditional ideas about women. Especially in some poor areas, women are often asked to stay at home and look after their families, so they lose the fun and job chances from surf tourism.
Sanu, a SeaSisters member, calls the program her “home.” Surfing lets her follow her interest without gender limits. “I never saw a local girl surfing growing up,” she said in a Los Angeles Times film. “It’s hard to believe something you’ve never seen.” Now, she feels free and strong when she’s in the waves.
Besides building a sense of community and confidence, SeaSisters also gives its members an important skill: swimming. Sri Lanka has one of the highest drowning (淹死) rates in the world. Because of limited chances to learn, many Sri Lankan women never learn how to swim. Dilini was one of these girls. She said she was really afraid of the sea before joining SeaSisters. Now, she’s a member of the SeaSisters Surf Academy and has become a surf photographer.
Since it started, SeaSisters has helped more than 180 women and girls learn to swim and surf. There are 90 volunteers from over 20 countries. All skill-learning programs are munity events about mental (心理上的) health and environmental protection are also free. As Sanu said: “If boys can surf, why can’t we ”
8. What problem do many Sri Lankan women face before
A. Few learned to swim. B. They couldn’t find jobs.
C. Surf clubs refused them. D. They hated ocean activities.
9. Who is in charge of SeaSisters now
A. Amanda Prifti. B. Martina Burscher.
C. Local Sri Lankan women. D. Volunteers from 20 countries.
10. Why does the author mention Sanu and Dilini
A. To describe their daily life.
B. To explain gender differences.
C. To show SeaSisters’ influence.
D. To introduce their surfing skills.
11. What do we know about SeaSisters’ programs
A. They aim to train adult women.
B. They are paid for by local government.
C. They help Sri Lankan women make money.
D. They include free events about community.

With the rise of global travel, ecotourism has become a popular and meaningful choice. Unlike traditional tourism that may hurt the environment, ecotourism refers to responsible travel to natural areas. It aims to protect the ecosystem and support local communities, making it a win-win for travelers and the planet.
Ecotourism brings great benefits. For the environment, it reduces pollution and protects endangered species. For example, in Costa Rica’s rainforests, ecotourism projects have helped protect monkey habitats (栖息地). Travelers follow rules like not leaving rubbish or hurting wildlife, helping keep natural places as they are. For local people, it creates jobs in guide services and hotels. This makes their lives better and makes them want to protect their hometowns more.
To practice ecotourism well, travelers need to take simple steps. Start by choosing tour companies that focus on environmental protection, as these providers usually design trips with minimal ecological influence. It’s also important to respect local cultures and customs—for example, dressing properly when visiting special places shows respect for the community’s traditions. Additionally, using eco-friendly products like reusable water bottles and avoiding single-use plastics can cut down waste during the journey.
However, ecotourism still faces certain challenges. A main problem is that it’s hard to balance protecting the environment and economic benefits: to get short-term benefits, some local communities may lower environmental standards, which in turn leads to over-development of supporting facilities(设施)—such development finally upsets the natural balance. Also, building basic structures like roads and accommodations in sensitive (敏感的) ecological areas harms local plants and animals directly as it destroys their homes.
In short, ecotourism is more than just a trip. It’s a way to connect with nature and help protect it. As students, we can start with small but useful actions: sharing ecotourism knowledge, choosing nearby eco-friendly places for school trips, or even bringing reusable bags when visiting local parks. These small steps will make our travels more meaningful and environmentally friendly.
12. What makes ecotourism different from traditional tourism
A. It focuses on global travel. B. It offers trips to rain forests.
C. It costs travellers less money. D. It connects travel and protection.
13. What does the underlined word “minimal” in paragraph 3 probably mean
A. Very small. B. Quite certain.
C Rather difficult. D. Extremely quick.
14. Why may some local communities lower environmental standards
A. To protect wildlife. B. To get quick benefits.
C. To follow local customs. D. To save eco-friendly products.
15. What is the best title for the text
A. Travel Ways: A Hard Choice for Tourists
B. Ecotourism: A Responsible Way of Traveling
C. Traditional Tourism: A Harmful Travel Choice
D. Travel Companies: A misleading Marketing Tool
【答案】12. D 13. A 14. B 15. B

第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Tom had been getting ready for the school marathon for months. Every early morning, when the first sunlight fell on the campus, he’d already put on his running shoes and started running around the track. His breath made small white clouds in the cool air, and his legs sometimes hurt — a light sign that he trained too much, but he paid no attention to it.
One morning, when Tom slowed down to rest, his best friend Lily walked over with a bottle of water. “Don’t work too hard,” she said, looking worried. “Marathons need endurance (耐力), not just speed.” Tom took the water and smiled a little. “I know,” he answered, “but I want to win as my dad did.” His dad, who passed away, used to be a runner and won many races. He always told Tom to face challenges bravely.
Race day came at last. The campus was full of excitement — colorful flags blew in the wind, and students cheered loudly by the side. Tom stood at the starting line, his hands a bit sweaty. He took a deep breath, waiting for the starting gun.
When the gun went off, Tom ran as fast as he could. His legs moved quickly, and he soon got ahead of the other runners. The crowd cheered louder. For a moment, he felt like he could run forever — as if his dad were right next to him, cheering for him.
But halfway through, a sudden pain came to his right ankle (脚踝) — it was worse than the pain from training. He bit his teeth to keep going. He couldn’t stop, especially since he was leading. Up ahead, Lily was helping at the water station. She saw him limping (瘸着走) in pain and shouted, “Tom, stop and check your ankle!” But he just shook his head, and his face turned pale. When he got near the final kilometer, his ankle couldn’t stand it anymore — he tripped and fell to the ground, breathing heavily.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Lily rushed to Tom’s side immediately, her eyes filled with worry.

With the help of Lily and the other runners, Tom decided to walk to the finish line.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
Lily rushed to Tom’s side immediately, her eyes filled with worry. She knelt beside him, gently pressing his swollen ankle while two other runners paused to help. “Let us carry you to the medic tent,” offered a tall boy, but Tom shook his head, staring at the finish line barely a kilometer away. Lily wiped sweat from his forehead and whispered, “Your dad wouldn’t want you to break yourself for this.” His father’s words echoed in his mind: “Bravery isn’t just about speed; it’s about heart.” Swallowing his frustration, he clenched his fists.
With the help of Lily and the other runners, Tom decided to walk to the finish line. Linking arms with Lily on one side and the tall runner on the other, he hobbled forward, his breath ragged but his spine straight. His vision blurred with pain and determination, but he smiled because this was his race, his way of honoring his dad. As they crossed the line together, the applause roared louder than any victory. Later, Lily teased, “Next time, listen to me sooner,” and Tom laughed, finally understanding endurance wasn’t just physical.河北省2025级高一年级大数据应用调研阶段性联合测评(Ⅲ)

1. 续写词数应为150个左右;

Lily rushed to Tom’s side immediately, her eyes filled with worry.
