After he became emperor, Zhu was deeply worried about losing all of the things he had worked so hard for. And then he met a hermit, named Zhu Zheng, also known as "Mr. Maple". Zhu paid Mr. Maple a secret visit and was given three strategies: to build high walls, to store grains and to not rush in exerting his power. Zhu followed these three strategies closely,
and the first thing he set his mind on was building high walls. And in 1393, after 28 years of construction, the city wall of the Ming Dynasty was finally completed. The height and exquisite craftsmanship of the city wall were unparalleled.
