Some elementary school students in Dallas, Texas watch 3D movies that go with many of their lessons.
A special machine makes the lessons come to life with the help of a computer chip. The chip can power movies as large as those in theaters and as small as the images on a cellphone. The chip is called a DLP chip, which is made up of many tiny mirrors. They reflect light in a special way to create an image that seems real enough to touch. Lessons in 3D can turn learning into an adventure.
The students look forward to the lessons and say that they remember them better than non-3D lessons. “It's easier to learn because you remember all the stuff, and it's more fun to learn,” says one student.
The teachers have good things to say about it, too. They say that students of all different learning levels can enjoy the 3D lessons. Brittany Russo, one of the teachers, points out that the most advanced students in her class are no longer bored, and the students who struggle with subjects are able to understand them better now.
Students wear special 3D glasses to watch the lessons like science, math and more. Some lessons take students on field trips to faraway places that they might never go to.
Vera Johnson, a science teacher, says that she enjoys the science and math lessons best. She points out that students who get to see a 3D movie understand the subject quicker. She also likes the videos about outer space. “You can't really go up and see the solar system,” Johnson says, “but this is the next best thing.”

Mai Lin wasn't doing well enough at school, or at least she wasn't satisfied with herself. She wished she could do better.

This new school, however, seemed as big as an airport to Mai Lin, and it seemed very hard to get around in it. She still got lost sometimes in the school.
Mai Lin frowned(皱眉) as Alison answered the teacher's question. Alison likely never got lost, Mai Lin thought to herself. You could likely put Alison down in the middle of a desert, and within five minutes she'd be able to tell you the best way to get home.
History class finally ended, and Mai Lin headed for the gym. The class had been playing basketball. Alison, who was as tall and thin and attractive as a tree, was very good at it. Beside her, Mai Lin felt like a very small and foolish ant. Today, however, the gym teacher pointed to a thick rope hanging from the ceiling and said, “Everybody! You're going to climb this rope today.”
