Facial recognition technology has been widely used for a long time. But not many people think of its other uses.
A farm in China has started developing a facial recognition system for goats. Yes, goats, not people. Shanghai-based Vert City Farm said its goat facial recognition system will increasingly be put into use in the near future, monitoring (监控) the behavior and health of the goats by setting up small cameras around the farm.
The system has been in development since 2019. The system can tell between different goats and give warnings to farms when a goat is sick—or at least, not in the best of health.“It uses special technology to show the goat’s body temperature and draw the farm’s attention if the goat’s body temperature rises above 40℃,” said Huang, a manager at the farm. To make the farm’s facial recognition system work, more than 1,000 goats have been chipped (安装芯片) so far.
The technology makes life and work easier for farm workers. Before the system, they had to go around the farm several times a day to watch the goats’ activities. With facial recognition technology, farm workers depend only on information sent to their smart phones to learn information about each goat.
27.What can we learn about this facial recognition system

I was traveling alone and there wasn’t anyone I knew whom I could ask for help. To make the matter worse, I was broke (破产), with just the exact money for the trip—no extra for any unexpected needs.
I was trying my best to act normal (正常), but my discomfort was becoming increasingly hard to hide. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder. When I looked up, a man asked me if I was doing fine. I said, “Yes, I am.” because I didn’t want to bring trouble to others and I felt embarrassed. This person insisted on helping but I said I was okay.
He kept an eye on me and minutes later, he returned with an unopened bottle of water. I gratefully accepted the water because I was really thirsty and my condition was stronger than my pride. He told me to let him know what he could do and asked me what was happening to me. I thanked him, touched by his kindness.
Months later, I was walking on the street with my mom back in her town and we saw this person. He remembered me, greeted me and expressed his joy after noticing I was in good health. It was a heartwarming reminder of the kindness of strangers.
After the reunion, I decided to repay the kindness. I started carrying extra bottles of water and small snacks with me whenever I traveled so that if I ever met someone in need, I could offer them some comfort, just as I had received. This small act has since become a habit, a way to show respect for the stranger’s compassion (同情心) and to keep his spirit of generosity (慷慨) alive.

阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
Do you speak a dialect (方言), which means local language, in daily life While many Chinese people speak Putonghua, some local dialects are in danger of disappearing. To save the local dialects, the Chinese government started the Chinese Language Resources Protection Project a few years ago.
This project looks at how people talk in 1,712 places. Their languages include 103 dialects that are almost gone. It has helped China to build the largest language resource library in the world. There’s an online library. In it people can learn dialects from over 5.6 million audio clips and over 5 million videos.
Why is it important to protect the dialect culture According to Harold Palmer, a world expert on language, “Dialects are a key to store local cultures. Language clearly shows the history and beliefs of an area,” he said.
Scholar Zhang Hongming talked about his worries about the disappearing of dialects. “For over 10 years, in the Wu dialect areas such as Shanghai and Suzhou, children aged 6 to 15 can understand but hardly speak the dialect. Young people above 15 years old sometimes speak it, but not very well. If this keeps happening, the dialect might disappear,” he said.
So how did China make this big library “A big national effort has been put into the project to make it happen,” said Cao Zhiyun, an expert on the project. “Over five years, more than 350 universities and research groups joined in, along with over 4,500 experts and more than 6,000 dialect speakers.”
The project is now entering into its second part. This includes creating digital tools like apps and mobile dictionaries to help people learn dialects.

参考答案及试题解析
1.A
【详解】句意:如果明天不下雨,我们将要去野餐。
考查一般将来时。观察句子结构并联系语境,可知这是一个由if引导的条件状语从句;主句We will go for a picnic用的是一般将来时态;根据其使用规则,在此类从句中应遵循“主将从现”的原则;所以含有if的从句应该用一般现在时表将来;根据We will go for a picnic可知应是在天不下雨的条件下去野餐,所以应用一般现在时的否定式完成从句。因为主语it为单数,rain是实意动词,所以在否定句中要借助于does直接在后面加not,缩写为doesn’t+动原,即为doesn’t rain。故选A。
2.C
【详解】句意:这汤没有味道。请把那边的盐递给我!
考查冠词的用法。a “一个”,不定冠词表泛指,用于辅音音素开头的单词前;an “一个”,不定冠词表泛指,用于元音音素开头的单词前;the “这个、那个”,定冠词表特指;/ 表示不填冠词。根据“salt over there”可知,此处表示特指,因此用定冠词the。故选C。
