完形填空(每题1分,共8分)
In every family, a time comes when parents start listening to their children’s advice. For us, it happened during a trip to Santa Barbara, while we were staying with Daniel, our eldest son near the beautiful beaches.
“Dad, don’t leave the water running when you brush your teeth,” Daniel 13 on our first night. The same thing happened when I washed my hands. All right, I understood. This is California, where drought is a problem.
More 14 followed. “Don’t wear a neck warmer when walking the dogs in the morning—it will warm up when we get to the park.” He asked why I drank so much cola and told me one pump (泵) of hand sanitizer (洗手液) was enough. He even showed me how to fold the rug (毯子) over the chair after using it.
At first, I wondered how I’d 15 such a kid. Then I remembered how often I threw the golden rule of parenting at Daniel when he was young. “Someday, you’ll have a home of your own and can live however you want. Before that, you’ll have to do as we ask.” A rude rule, but now it was payback time.
Although it felt strange to follow my son’s rules, I quickly saw that there were 16 of doing so. He cleaned dishes after dinner because he thought he could do a better job than my wife and me. And he willingly drove everywhere, saving me from the stressful city traffic, even though it made me carsick.
Our role 17 gave me hope for his future parenting ability. We walked along Butterfly Beach on our last afternoon and reached a big rock area. I thought we couldn’t go any further, but Daniel wouldn’t give up. He helped me step from one big rock to the next, 18 telling me where to place my arthritic (关节炎) feet and hands as ocean waves came close. I was afraid, but after a couple hundred metres we 19 it to a fresh sandy area.
“You did it! I’m really proud.” Daniel said to me, smiling. That’s when I knew for sure that Daniel would be a 20 parent someday.

A zero-waste life is a lifestyle that hardly creates any rubbish. So, a zero-waste store is about providing a kind of everyday and pleasant-looking zero-waste products to help people start on a zero-waste life journey.
“Zero waste” or “danshari” was first suggested by a French woman called Bea Johnson. Her idea is: live a life and try not to create any rubbish; use different kinds of ways to save the environment such as stopping the use of one-off objects; giving unwanted things to others or giving them away to organizations like the Red Cross.
Yu Yuan, 27, is deeply interested in this idea. She and her boyfriend have lived in Beijing for many years. And earlier she used to buy things without thinking about them carefully until she saw a video about “zero waste”, in which a family of four put the rubbish they produced every year in a jar (罐子). After watching the video, Yu wanted to experience this zero-waste lifestyle with her boyfriend.
A zero-waste life follows the 6R rule—Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle and Rot (腐烂). Over August—October when Yu followed the rule of zero waste 6R, she and her boyfriend Joe Harvey both produced only two cans of rubbish.
Now, the couple have opened a small shop in Beijing where they use wood products to take the place of plastic ones and cloth bags printed with environmentally friendly logos (环保标志). Most products sold in the store can be reused. The store also has second-hand books and CDs/DVDs with ideas to make the best of the used things.
“Those who once experienced the non-waste lifestyle have slowly changed their ideas.” says Yu, “The zero-waste lifestyle is not for ascetics (苦行僧). It is just around us at our finger-tips.” Yu expects some of her friends to join her on the road to zero waste.
24.Bea Johnson suggests that people should ________.
A.work hard for the Red Cross B.share objects with others
C.help their friends live comfortably D.try to produce no rubbish in life
25.We can see from the passage that Yu Yuan ________.
A.is influenced by the 6R rule B.often buys things she doesn’t need
C.offers plastic bags in her store D.likes listening to CDs very much
26.What Yu Yuan says in the last paragraph probably means that ________.
A.lots of people doubt the zero-waste lifestyle B.the zero-waste lifestyle is not difficult to live
C.her friends have followed her lifestyle D.she feels it hard to continue her lifestyle

Welcoming four-legged friends into the classroom is becoming popular across the country. And research shows that therapy-dog (治疗犬) programs provide significant (重要的) benefits for students. According to the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, “Therapy dogs have been called ‘miracle workers’ because of their calming effect on students and teachers.”
There is an obvious difference between service dogs and therapy dogs. Service dogs help those with specific disabilities, such as problems with eyesight. Therapy dogs are trained to provide health and social-emotional benefits.
Tarah Randazzo is a middle school counselor (顾问) at Greenfield Middle School in Wisconsin. She has a yellow labrador (拉布拉多), Archie, a certified (认证的) therapy dog that she brings with her to school a couple of days each week. She says students love Archie days, and he brings so many positive benefits, like increased attendance, better problem-solving, and just overall (全面的) calmness to middle school life. “I’ve noticed that when students are really upset, just being near Archie makes a big difference.” Randazzo says.
Dogs in the classroom provide both physical and emotional health benefits for students. According to one study published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), having a dog present in the classroom promotes (提升) a positive mood and provides significant anti-stress effects on the body. In fact, the simple act of petting a dog has the effect of lowering blood pressure and heart rate. Pet therapy also lowers stress hormones (荷尔蒙). In other words, just being in contact with a therapy dog calms kids down when they’re upset. And reducing feelings of anxiety and depression (沮丧) enables them to focus on learning.
Perhaps the greatest benefit of therapy dogs in the classroom is the effect on students’ social-emotional development. Loving and lovable, dogs are friendly companions and good listeners who make no judgements. Children bond (建立亲密关系) easily with these gentle creatures, helping them feel more connected and confident. This helps reduce bad behavior and anger.
The positive effect of therapy dogs begins in life and extends into schools, helping students become more caring and understanding. Let’s support their presence in schools to create a better educational experience for everyone.
27.Why does the writer mention Archie in Paragraph 3
A.To explain why therapy dogs can calm kids down.
B.To prove therapy dogs are better than service dogs.
C.To show the benefits therapy dogs bring to students.
D.To discuss if therapy dogs improve students’ learning.
28.According to the passage, who would benefit most from therapy dogs
A.Counselors who train the therapy dogs. B.Students who feel anxious about the grades.
C.Students who have problems with their eyesight. D.Teachers who want their students to do better in studies.
29.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage
A.Therapy Dogs: Classroom Companions B.Therapy Dogs: Classroom Managers
C.Therapy Dogs: Learning Coaches D.Therapy Dogs: Lesson Planners

Learn to love who you are
Expect to be treated with kindness, respect and love from a good friend You shouldn’t have to go far to find them. Start by being you own friend.
Loving yourself, also called self-love, means being as kind to yourself as you are to others. Imagine your best friend is worried or upset, then think about how you’d support him or her and try to make him or her better. Self-love means giving yourself the love, care and respect you might give your friends and family. Becky Goddard-Hill is the author of Create Your Own Confidence. He says self-love means valuing yourself at all times. “It’s speaking to yourself with kindness and encouragement, and it means taking really good care of your body and mind.”
Learning to love who you are strengthens (增强) your self-esteem (自尊). This makes you believe in yourself and feel that you deserve (值得) good things—such as kind friends and fun experiences. It doesn’t mean you’ll be happy all the time, but when you do face challenges, they’ll be easier to overcome. Studies show that self-love can help friendships, schoolwork and health. “There is always someone looking out for you,” says Goddard-Hill, “because that person is you.”
Love yourself better. Start by being kind, especially if you make a mistake. Instead of being angry, tell yourself that everyone gets things wrong sometimes. Then work out what you could do differently next time. Try not to compare yourself to others and remember that no one is perfect. Focus on (专注于) yourself instead. Goddard-Hill suggests writing down your advantages and asking your family and friends for their thoughts. “Keep the list somewhere safe and look at it often to remind yourself you are amazing,” she says. Before you go to bed, think about three things that went well for you that day. “This will help you see the positives (积极的方面) in your life, ” says Goddard-Hill.
Give affirmations to yourself. Goddard-Hill suggests doing this three times every morning to give yourself a boost (激励) . Here are some ideas. Can you think of any more
●I like who I am.
●I can do this.
●I am a good friend.
Take time out for you. You can spend 15 minutes a day giving yourself the attention you deserve, starting with:

●Cuddling (搂抱) your pet.
●Reading a book in bed.

Xiaohua, a hairdresser, has become very famous on the Internet. Since videos of her cutting hair spread rapidly on social media platform Douyin, many tourists have come to her live-streaming sessions (直播间) to learn her skills or simply to talk. At peak times, more than 100,000 viewers watch her online. A lot of fans are even coming to visit her shop in Huaihua, Hunan province, to get a haircut.
Xiaohua, whose real name is Li Jing, first started to put videos on Douyin last year. At first, her videos didn’t attract much attention. But recently, one of them suddenly attracted lots of views, as netizens (网民) praised her for meeting customers’ needs. Many have invited her to open stores in their hometowns or to give lessons to hairdressers across the country.
Her Douyin account now has more than 3.88 million fans and her videos have received more than 11 million likes. She has become popular because she always treats her customers as friends and meets their needs.
She learned to cut hair from her husband, who is also a hairdresser. “As long as a person cuts enough hair and makes enough mistakes, he or she can be skillful,” she said. She mostly cuts hair for male customers and charges 30 yuan for each haircut. She serves about 30 customers a day and is fully booked through the end of the year.
“For customers, my intention (宗旨) is to cut the hair to the best of my ability and not add things that they do not want or like.” she said. Faced with great popularity, she does not consider herself a professional hairdresser. She believes there are many more hairdressers who have better skills.
“I am the most common hairdresser. There is nothing special about me,” she said. “I have not considered raising the price for a haircut because the trust from people is satisfying enough.” Her WeChat is filled with messages from customers asking for a haircut, and she wants to tell them to be patient and wait until the online fame cools down.

38.题目1例文:
A Hero in My Heart
Everybody has a hero in his heart. My hero is my father because he is very helpful and he is always willing to help others.
I still remember on a cold and snowy winter evening, my father came to pick me up. When we were walking across the road, suddenly, an old lady fell down on the ground because of the ice. There were many people walking past her, but no one stopped to help her. However, my father ran to her and helped her to stand up without thinking. Unluckily the old lady hurt her leg. My father sent her to the hospital at once. The old lady thanked him again and again.
What my father did makes me believe in love and trust. It encouraged me to help others. He sets a good example for me. I realized I should help the people who are in trouble whenever I can.

Dear Tom,
I’m writing to tell you something about our breaks. We often have 15 and 30 minutes’ breaks. During the breaks, we do different things. For 15 minutes’ breaks, Sometimes, I play games with my friends or chat about our favorite TV shows. Other times, I just sit quietly and enjoy a snack while listening to music. For 30 minutes’ breaks, all the students often run on the playground together. It’s so interesting because each grade has group change just like a moving picture. These activities help me relax and feel less stressed. I enjoy the breaks because they make me full of energy and I can be ready to focus when the bell rings for the next lesson.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Yours,
Li Hua
