They are good for natural beauty, saving soil, and giving shelter to birds and other animals.” “Good answer,” said the ecologist, “ 27 it may not be easy to find a woodcutter to talk to. Also, remember that sometimes it’s 28 to cut down a tree. If we cut down too many trees, the forest will disappear. If we don’t cut down any trees, we won’t get any resources from the forest. 三、阅读理解
What’s going to happen in the future Will robots control our planet Will computers become smarter than us Not likely. But here are some things that scientists say are most likely to happen in 10 — 30 years from now, according to the BBC.Bionic (仿生的) Eyes
They are no longer something, only in a science fiction movie. People who are blind may have a chance to see things clearly—by wearing bionic eyes.
A blind eye can no longer sense sight, but a bionic eye can use a camera to “see” the environment and send information to the mind. Now the bionic eye only allows patients to see lights and unclear shapes. A bionic eye with very clear pictures could be just in a few years away.Digital Money
We used to pay with cash (现金) for everything we bought. Now we can use WeChat Pay or Alipay to shop. Money is spent without seeing it. That means we are already using digital money. People only need to take a mobile phone wherever they go. Using these ways is much easier than searching our pockets for change. It is also safer than carrying a lot of cash.
It is reported that people in Sweden completely stopped using cash last year, and the US might be the next.Self-driving Cars
Unlike a human driver, a self-driving car won’t be influenced by a phone call, the radio or something outside the window. Sensors (探测器) and cameras on the car would allow it to follow the rules of the road strictly and keep a safe space from other cars. This would greatly make the number of road accidents smaller. You can even take a short rest while the car drives itself. In the future, driverless cars would be widely accepted.

In northern Scotland, there is a long, deep lake called Loch Ness. More than 200 meters deep, it is the largest lake in the UK. People say a big monster (怪兽) lives in its dark, cold waters. It weighs more than 1,000 kilos and is at least 10 meters long. Some people say it has a head like a horse. Others say it looks like a snake. Many people travel to Loch Ness to look for this strange monster, but only a few people have seen it.
The Loch Ness Monster remains a mystery. People have made up so many stories about it, so it has become a famous legend (传说). The first story about the monster in Loch Ness was told more than 500 years ago, but it spread widely only in the twentieth century. In 1933, a couple reported that they saw a big monster in the middle of the lake. After that, a number of people said that they had seen a monster in Loch Ness. Several people had taken photos, but at least one of them was a hoax. They were just trying to catch people’s eyes. During the 1960s, a team was formed to look for the monster. In our life, we meet quite a lot people: some just pass by while others can change our lives. Miss Bella is such a person. She taught me two years only. However, she has taught me a lot in many ways.
Every day she began her classes with a smile and a fresh face. She made me realize that warm smiles could change a person. I was shy but I wasn’t nervous in her classes at all. She gave lessons in a different way from other teachers. We had many chances to talk about problems in English classes. Miss Bella would thumb up (竖起大拇指) to encourage us when someone had great ideas. Now, I find that I have learned much from her classes. Learning to speak out your ideas is so important in society. She also made me realize that I could be myself by showing opinions bravely. Her encouragement not only turned me into a confident student, but will also lead me to a successful life.

My house is on the second floor, so it was not difficult to go in. However, I fell down and hurt my right leg. As a result, I went to hospital instead of my friend’s birthday party.
It was really the worst day of my life.
