Have you read any stories written by Jules Verne What are they about
I have read Jules Verne's “Journey to the Center of the Earth”. The novel tells the story of Professor Lidenbrock, a resolute and dedicated scientific explorer, along with his nephew Aksai and guide Hanes, who, following the guidance of their predecessors, embark on a three-month arduous journey underground for a scientific expedition.

What does the author mean by “Words are not enough to relate such wonders”
The author means that the views underwater are so beautiful and such experience is so unique that he can't find enough and proper words to describe them.
What do you think will happen next in the story Share your ideas with the class.
Tips: The last sentences of the passage may give us clues of what the writer may write about next.
Think and share
What do you know about the world beneath the surface of the oceans
Tips: The ocean floor has diverse landscapes—like deep trenches (the Mariana Trench is the deepest) and underwater volcanoes that form seamounts.
It's home to unique creatures: bioluminescent fish, giant squids, and organisms that survive in extreme pressure (like hydrothermal vent communities).
Sunlight can't reach depths beyond 200 meters, so most deep-sea life relies on chemosynthesis or detritus for energy.
Think and share
Why do you think people want to explore this underwater world
Tips: People seek to uncover unknown species and ecosystems, which helps expand scientific understanding of life on Earth. Exploring the ocean floor also aids in discovering resources (like minerals or new medical compounds) that benefit human development. Additionally, it satisfies human curiosity about uncharted spaces, just as we explore outer space to learn more about our world.
When reading an unfamiliar word, first try to use the context of the sentence or passage to infer its meaning. Then think about what other words would make sense in the sentence. Parts of the word, such as prefixes, word roots and suffixes, can also be used to try and work out its meaning.
Learning to learn

Farne Islands
The Farne Islands are a group of islands off the coast of Northumberland, England. The group has between 15 and 20 islands depending on the level of the tide. In the warmer months, the Farnes, an important wildlife habitat, are much-visited by boat trips. The Farne Islands are popular with bird watchers, and as scuba diving locations, with a variety of sites suitable for all levels of divers, for the seals and wrecks. The grey seal colony at the Farnes numbers about 5,000. They are curious and often look in on divers in the water and are impressive to watch underwater.

wreck diving
Core features: Taking underwater sunken ships as the exploration objects, it combines a sense of history and adventure. The sunken ships are mostly war wrecks, wrecked merchant ships, etc., and are a type of artificial reef.
Key points of the experience: Divers can not only observe the structure of the hull and learn the story behind the sunken ship, but also admire the coral, fish and other Marine biological communities attached to the hull.
The difficulty requirements are usually quite high, demanding the diver's neutral buoyancy control and navigation skills. Some deep-water sunken ships also require an advanced diving certificate.
landscape diving
Core features: Focusing on natural underwater landscapes, it is the most common type of diving, with destinations mostly being coral reefs, seagrass beds, caves or shallow bays.
The key points of the experience: It mainly focuses on enjoying the diverse Marine life and the splendid underwater scenery, such as swimming with tropical fish schools and observing the color changes of corals up close.
The difficulty requirement is relatively low, ranging from entry-level shore diving and reef diving to cave diving suitable for advanced divers, covering diving enthusiasts of different levels.
The difference between wreck diving and landscape diving.

Every year some people are killed falling off cliffs, getting caught in avalanches, or from exposure to the elements.
Sample 1
I couldn't believe that I succeeded in diving and swam with the seals for 10 minutes! I never thought I could start an adventure under the sea before, till my parents took me to the Farne Islands and tried diving there.
We were offered two choices, either wreck diving - to see the wrecked ship Somali, or scenic diving - to have a good time with the grey seals. I chose the second one because it was less challenging and I love sea animals.
Diving turned out to be much less difficult than I had imagined. I just put on the instruments and followed my instructor. I was a bit scared, but my instructor told me to take it easy. At first, I could only see nothing, but when my eyes gradually adjusted to the darkness, I could see deep blue waves moving up and down, and small fishes swimming. Soon we reached the spot, and I could breathe normally.
Sample 1
It was such a wonderful world. Before realising it, I had been in the seaweed forest surrounded by the young seals. They were eager to get close to me and dance around me. I reached out my hand to touch one of them. All of a sudden, something big appeared on my right. I turned around and almost got astonished. It was a huge male seal. I was so scared fearing it would attack me. But it just touched me lightly with its body, as if it wanted to hug me. I put my hands on its back, trying to feel its smooth skin. The world here was so quiet that it felt that time had stopped.
Finally, my instructor gestured for me to go up. When I reached the surface, I had to readjust to the sunlight. What had happened just now was like a dream.
Sample 2
Sunday, July 23 Sunny
During the summer holiday, my friends and I decided to go on an adventure trip to Hainan Island.
We travelled around Hainan Island from July 15 to 21. While we were there we went hiking and it was tiring. We also climbed the mountain, which was so high that I almost gave up halfway. We also swam near the beach and had a campfire party. We played happily with local people. On the last day, we went diving. It was amazing to see so many different creatures under the sea. Because it was dangerous to stay under the sea for too long, I had to go up to the shore.
In my opinion, this adventure was not only interesting but also exciting.
